Most people that know me well tend to think my greatest skill is my writing but I so rarely do it nowadays. I'm going to try to be better about that. Anyway, here's this thing I just jotted down...

Art is especially hard when your medium involves other people. By most definitions, art should spring from emotions but unfiltered emotions are complicated, organic, and not subject to the rules of the external world. When you channel these emotions into art, they're suddenly subject to rules and obligations of the current world (and, more frequently, the future world). When you involve another person with your medium, they are then also subjected to the rules and obligations of that person. However, people, like emotions, are fluid and the whole thing gets even more precarious.

We currently live in a very volatile time and this whole journey is becoming more and more dangerous (or maybe that's how every artist ever has felt?). There's become so little room for error in a genre that is suppose to free-flowing and even less room when your process involves others. If you have any conscience at all, it feels like a paralyzing doom-spiral.

People are flawed which I always thought that was the key to art but everyone seems so hell-bent on safety-proofing everything to the point of absolute banality. Everyone is demanding personal-responsibility while not accepting it when it's offered nor practicing it themselves. I feel like there's a lot of people who think they're making the world better without realizing fascism is a practice, not a belief-system.
