IT'S MY PUPPY'S FIRST BIRTHDAY (Patreon)

My dog's first birthday was today and I took her to a dog park with a lake and got her a Sprinkles dog cupcake. We spent 2 hours at the park and she LOVED IT. She been sleeping since we left.I was exhausted and didn't feel well, but celebrating the birthdays' of those I love is very important to me, animal or otherwise. Growing up, my parents didn't really celebrate our birthdays and, if it was acknowledged, it was not particularly pleasant. The first birthday I remember was my fourth. I was with my dad and we were staying in a hotel room. He put me in a pretty dress and decorated one corner of the room like I was having a party, he even set out paper plates like there were guests. He got a cake from the store with Snow White on it next to a frosting creek. MTV was on the TV because he was trying to listen to more rock music like the kind my mother liked. He posed me in front of the cake while he took photos to send to my mother. I kept trying to sneak a taste of the frosting and he caught me, hit me and yelled at me until I cried. I didn't get to eat the cake but I got Jack in the Box that night. Unfortunately I got ketchup and mustard on my dress and was yelled at until I cried again. With birthdays like these, it was almost a relief when my mother declared us Jehovah Witness and said we wouldn't be celebrating birthdays at all. Most of our birthdays she would make our favorite meal for dinner, so I guess I can't fault her too much.Anyway, this is why celebrating the birthdays' of others is important to me; having mine ignored or destroyed taught me not to do that to others. It made me super happy watching my dogs have a great time today.
