Wakasha looked at the 10 EXP he had just gained and smiled.

As expected, Law of the Jungle was ridiculously useful. Killing a single ordinary green slime had already earned him 10 EXP.

And if he used a skill, he could also freeload some skill EXP on top of that.

What a massive profit.

He quickly took out the Slime Gel Extractor Kufuku had given him. It was a transparent tool shaped somewhat like a dropper, with a fine needle at the tip, a round rubber bulb at the bottom, and tiny measurement marks along the middle container showing the amount of slime collected.

Wakasha crouched down and carefully inserted the needle into the puddle of green slime residue that had not yet fully seeped into the mud. He gently pressed the extractor, and a portion of pale green, sticky slime was slowly drawn into the container.

The extractor worked efficiently. In just a few seconds, it had collected one unit of slime gel, and the markings on the container jumped up by a notch.

What was stored inside now was one purified unit of pure slime gel.

Besides being convenient for collection, this tool also had purification and refining functions.

Otherwise, under normal conditions, the best you could collect would only be clean green slime gel, which was still very different from truly purified slime gel with no extra impurities.

“Very handy tool.”

Putting the extractor away, Wakasha looked down at the green slime still clinging to his short sword. He tightened his grip on the hilt and gave it a few test swings.

The slime wasn’t overly adhesive. It was just stuck to the blade, slightly affecting the smoothness of his swings.

He didn’t use the strong de-sticking fluid right away. After all, a bottle cost 15 copper, so saving it where he could was always better. This little bit of slime could wait until he had killed a few more slimes and cleaned everything at once.

Who knew, maybe some of it would rub off on its own by then.

He adjusted his breathing and extended his perception again, carefully probing the surrounding life signatures.

The life signs in the muddy marsh were still scattered, but they were clearer now than when he had first entered. Most of them were gathered near the edges of puddles or deep in the reed beds, and a few felt about as strong as the green slime he had just killed, or slightly stronger. Those were probably different varieties of slimes.

“I’ll collect 20 portions of slime gel first, then go deal with the Windgrass.”

Wakasha fixed the plan in his mind and lightened his footsteps even more as he headed toward another puddle nearby.

This puddle was larger than the previous one. A few dried yellow reed leaves floated on its surface, and at the edge of the mud, he could vaguely see a pale blue, semi-transparent blob wriggling slowly.

“A blue slime.”

Wakasha’s heart stirred, and he stopped to observe it from a distance.

Blue slimes were about the same size as green slimes, around the size of a fist, but their bodies were a pale sky blue. The slime on their surface looked thicker than that of green slimes, and there was a faint fishy odor coming from them. Wakasha recalled Old Boss’s warning—some slimes carried weak toxins. This blue slime was probably one of those.

He didn’t rush forward.

Instead, he summoned Deathbird.

He knew that since the blue slime was likely poisonous, he couldn’t treat it as casually as he had the green slime. If its slime touched his skin and the toxin was potent enough, it could cause dizziness or numbness. In an unfamiliar environment like this, even a minor injury or ailment could become a fatal problem.

So Wakasha raised Deathbird from a distance and aimed at the blue slime in the puddle.

Then he pulled the trigger.

Bang!

The bullet punched straight through the blue slime’s body, and it deflated in the puddle like a burst balloon.

Wakasha was a little surprised. This blue slime actually gave more EXP than an ordinary goblin?

Still, he didn’t think too deeply about it right then.

Instead, he immediately went to the edge of the puddle, took out the Slime Gel Extractor, and carefully collected the blue slime’s remaining residue. Although blue slimes were poisonous, the extractor had a purification function, so the collected gel would be refined and wouldn’t retain any toxicity.

After purification, the pale blue slime inside the container became clear and clean, losing its fishy odor and leaving behind only a slight stickiness.

Wakasha carefully put the extractor away, then swept his eyes around the puddle and spread out his perception again. Very quickly, he picked up another faint life signature not too far away.

That presence was slightly stronger than a green slime, but weaker than the blue slime from just now. Wakasha tightened his grip on Deathbird and moved as lightly as possible toward the source.

After pushing through several clumps of yellowed reeds, he saw a yellow slime. It was a bit larger than both the green and blue slimes, with an earthy yellow body covered in a thick layer of mucus. It was lying on a patch of relatively dry mud, rolling around slowly and sticking small pebbles and bits of dead grass to itself.

“Yellow slime. Old Boss said this kind has the strongest adhesive mucus, and it’s hard to clean off.”

Wakasha murmured under his breath. His eyes were wary, but calm. He didn’t approach rashly. Instead, he stood about three meters away and slowly raised Deathbird, aiming at the yellow slime’s core.

Slimes didn’t really have clear organs, but there was a condensed core inside the center of their bodies. Destroying that core would kill them instantly.

He stirred his mental power slightly, condensing a snow-white mental bullet in an instant. Wakasha held his breath and gently squeezed the trigger.

With a muffled puff, the bullet shot out at high speed and struck the yellow slime’s core dead on.

The yellow slime’s body jerked. The mucus on its surface instantly stiffened, then its whole body rapidly shriveled and cracked apart, finally collapsing into a puddle of thick, earthy-yellow slime stuck to the ground. The pebbles and dried grass it had been holding scattered everywhere.

As the system notification sounded, Wakasha felt that he now had a rough understanding of how much EXP different monsters gave.

It was probably determined by a combination of the monster’s magic power and life force.

Both goblins and slimes were among the lowest-tier monsters, but in terms of physical strength, goblins were stronger than slimes.

Still, slimes were inherently supernatural monsters. They were born with magic power inside them. Otherwise, how could a bunch of living liquid even exist?

The reason a basic slime and a goblin gave the same EXP was probably because their overall strength was about the same. The goblin leader from before had more physical strength than its kin, while the blue slime probably contained more magic power than an ordinary slime.

That was likely why some monsters gave different amounts of EXP when killed.

He stepped forward, took out the extractor, and carefully collected the yellow slime’s gel. The markings on the extractor jumped up by another notch. At this point, he had already collected three portions of slime gel.
