The chokehold this book and movie had on everyone in high school in 2012, iconic

The way the hunger games series is still relevant to this day and getting more books and movies. Love being part of this fandom.

OK, here are a few things the movie shows, but that are clearer when you read the book: 1. Peeta’s mom is abusive; he was beaten as punishment just for giving Katniss some bread. 2. Gale and Katniss are best friends; they grew up together. 3. Peeta never betrays Katniss; he just persuades the others to follow him, which is why Katniss spends so much time hiding before the fire. 4. Peeta loses his leg, and the explosion leaves Katniss deaf in one ear. 5. The "dogs" are "mutts," genetically engineered hybrid creatures created by the Capitol to serve as weapons, spies, etc. Katniss describes in the book that they are strangely recognizable, since they have parts from deceased tributes, such as their eyes and skin—it’s terrifying. 6. Katniss and Peeta are only 16 years old.

Btw Peeta is the one to tell Katniss to shoot Cato in the hand. You can see him tapping Cato’s hand motioning for her to do it
