Steam curled up from the half-finished plate on the kitchen table - roast chicken, garlic, rosemary, the sharp edge of black coffee still warm in the pot. The mother stood by the sink, maybe fifty, silver threading through her dark hair, body solid from a life that hadn’t given her many easy days. Her son leaned against the counter next to her, tall, broad through the shoulders, carrying the same quiet watchfulness she’d given him. Outside the rain-streaked window, a killer robot moved across the backyard, red optics slicing through the downpour.

The side door banged open. The warrior stepped in, water running off ruined gear. His shoulders still looked strong, but everything below the belt had shifted hard - hips wider, thighs softer and fuller, the last of his old shape shrinking away while a slick, aching warmth opened deeper inside. His voice had settled into something low and husky when he met the mother’s eyes. “The parameters changed.”

She stared at the full curves straining under his vest, the unmistakably feminine lines of his lower body. Then she glanced at her son. The robot’s mechanical whine grew louder outside. The warrior felt a rush of heat twist through him, unwanted but impossible to ignore. His gaze slid to the young man. “It has to be him now,” he said, the words thick, breathing a little faster as thunder rolled over the house and covered the sound of approaching metal feet.
