I simp for pigeons

46:00 just a fun reference for anyone reading comments. 93 million gallons is approximately 141 Olympic size swimming pools.

At the risk of sounding shallow, Kurly has the most soothing calming voice, which I guess is good when talking about something so awful and anger inducing.

All in the name of progress. And they say us luddites are the crazy ones.

I love the boys but I honestly can't handle listening. I finished Time Zero which covers much of the same ground and it was absolutely heart destroying. I know thats me showing my privilege to turn away for now but im barely holding it together

End of episode songs always on point. A very light wholesome sounding song (and video if you look on YouTube) for an episode that was heavy as fuck

As an archaeologist turned paleontologist, this was a fantastic episode for so many reasons, but lmao the clarification of job descriptions made me happy!

I realize he’s been a bit discredited since then, but I really enjoyed Ward Churchill’s book A Little Matter of Genocide, where I first learned about the scope of the Uranium mine problem with regards to native lands. It’s a tough subject for me as a nuclear power worker who’s strongly anti-nuclear weapon but think it still has value as a power source in a warming world. Thought this was a great interview and it really puts a human perspective on how native genocide isn’t some subject relegated to the past-tense.
