A movie about friendship with a Nicaraguan dictator in the process of being overthrown by revolutionaries. Last Plane Out (1983) is the story of an American journalist being sexy, intrepid, and in support of Anastasio Somoza’s dictatorship. Specifically: Jack Cox, who produced this self-mythologizing movie at the height of Ronald Reagan’s efforts to arm the Nicaraguan counter-revolution. Your hosts are Julian Feeld and Jon Gabrus.
