Mordaeus

This will end well.

Fart Captor

she's such a good mom 😢

Geo (Overand)

Never let these folks try salvia. (Or maybe do?)

Dan Orlowitz

We're gonna need a much deeper shade of pink for those eyes before we're through here.

Dark Wulf

Vapeception, Claire's mom is the hero she deserves but not the one she needs right now

Anonymous

The usual procedure is to go into their dream after them while lucid, but this might work too.

Miyaa

This is like if Melissa McCarthy wanted to direct a female version of a Cheech & Chong movie.

Anonymous

I'm starting to understand Claire and Clinton a little better now. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, unless the tree is leaning over the top of a cliff... And then you get applesauce...

Creepy Cat Lady

Jeph I never gave you permission to depict me in this comic and here you are writing Claire and Clinton's mom and oh my GODDESSES ABOVE she is SO ME.

Brian

Oh no

awgiedawgie

Yeah... there's no way this could possibly go wrong... o_O

Philip D Jones

Claire is going to miss her exam, isn’t she?

Autistic Observer

Right, where's the popcorn. This is either going to be hilarious or terrible.

Perrin Swanson

Error in the last panel? "You won't have to (go through / do) this alone"? Or maybe she's just losing her ability to talk good English lol

Dylan T

GOOR Edit: GOOD

Ben Russell-Gough

In retrospect, this is why it was such a great idea for Tai to be there. Claire and her mother might have killed themselves otherwise!

I think that this was going wrong' when Claire first had the idea to get high using a drug that she knew had bad side-effects with her.

Am Queue

I actually used to do this while babysitting people on their first acid trip - tho I wouldn't get MORE dosed than they would, but I found like a quarter/half dose would let me edge into the zone to keep better track of them. ... .... What? It worked!

Mark

I bet Tai is really loving having to be the responsible one %-!

DF

*StonER logic?

ysth

Reminds me of Connie Willis's Passage

SheepFace2000

I don’t weed but this seems I’ll advised

Ben Russell-Gough

I'm starting to think that I was too optimistic when I thought that Marten would be wheeling Claire home in a wheelbarrow. This may yet turn into a hospital visit and... well, that could really screw up her chances with getting sinecure with a 'respectable' library.

Anonymous

I did want a glimpse into Clairemother's character, and here it appears to be. Hypothesis: every so often she just goes for it. That got her a bad husband, good, if slightly shocky, children, and a cute young boyfriend. Let's see how it works out this time.

I'm thinking that being hospitalised due to over-use of narcotics may impact negatively on whether any major institution would want to employ her. It WILL be on her record and it doesn't look good.

Bagge

Thai is now the adultiest adult in the room. This is a new and strange feeling for her.

Joshua Brumley

And this is why it's a good idea to have a "sober" friend nearby to steer you away from the worst aspects of indulgence. :/

In the US, hospitals do not have to report you for drug use unless you are a danger to yourself or others, or you have the drugs on you at the time. However, it is also possible that in the universe of QC, marijuana is legal. That would explain why THC vape juice is available. In that case, there is no risk aside from social judgement.

Jeremy Sistrunk

I read this and had a good ten minute laugh. This has to be one of the funniest arcs.

Cannabinoid receptors in the brain have nothing to do with anything keeping you alive. It is impossible to overdose on THC. You may lose consciousness but you will not stop breathing or have heart problems.

Joshua Brumley

Well, she just might "sober" up real quick with two of them doing the stoner equivalent of getting, um... Pissed in the British definition. (Yeah, that'll work) :)

Maurice Kessler

Been there. Fortunately, I had a Tai close at hand.

If you're going to take a trip, you really need a trip-sitter. One that is experienced and won't allow their emotions to run away with them.

Natalie Wagner

What...what does it mean that Claire's eyes turned brown in the last frame? Is that...bad?

Ami

Jeph... Jeph... is mama Augustus secretly Fart chan?

Steve

I haven't laughed this hard at any comic in a long time.!

If the comic is still essentially set in Northampton, which is Massachusetts, then in the world outside our window marijuana is legal there, much less QC. Mass legalized recreational marijuana for consumption in one's home, and literally as of yesterday there are legal dispensaries for it. Marijuana is still considered a controlled substance on the Federal level, but barring interstate transport that's not likely to be an issue. And not only wouldn't this use be on her 'record' (as Jeph already said), under HIPAA it would be illegal for the hospital to disclose the reason for her hospitalization. Also? Tai has raves *in the library* and hasn't been fired. I seriously doubt 'grad student uses weed this one time' will be an issue with Claire finding work. Especially since in *our* world 'grad student uses weed this one time' isn't really an issue for these purposes.

...and as it turns out, one of those first legal dispensaries that have opened in Mass (again, literally yesterday)... was in Northampton. Which is the polar opposite of a surprise, really.
