August Content Updates 🌒❤️🌘 (Patreon)

Hey everyone! I wanted to give you all an update about this month's content, including my tentative plan for getting content uploaded, a milestone we reached here on Patreon (yay!), and a change I'm making on YouTube because of concerns there (boo.) The recorded audio will discuss these in more detail, but the short and sweet summary is in text below.

Also, if the audio sounds like it has some awkward cuts, it's because I edited out some sniffles 😅

My tentative upload schedule:

Week of August 10th: SFW audio roleplay (Wolf Shifter Roommate, Part 2)

For Tiers Crescent Moon 🌒, Waxing Moon 🌓, and Full Moon 🌕

Week of August 17th: A complete NSFW 🌶️ audio roleplay (Shy Succubus)

For Tiers Waxing Moon 🌓 and Full Moon 🌕

Week of August 25th: A spicy NSFW 🌶️ extension of a YouTube audio roleplay AND this month's non-roleplay audio

We hit a milestone here on Patreon! My income on patreon is now about half of what it needs to be for me to make this my full-time job! I'm so grateful for everyone's support, and I'm hopeful that in the next year or two I will be able to make this my career. Thank you so much for making this happen for me, I'm so excited to continue creating content here for you all and enjoying your presence in my life 🥰

And a little bit of sad news: the recent spate of YouTube bans has focused on channels that link to linktrees that then link to sites with 18+ content, and seems to have disproportionately affected ASMR creators. Here's an article that talks more about that here:

As mentioned above, I produce some NSFW content as about half of what I create for Patreon. I'm not going to stop making that content, but it does mean I'm going to avoid directly linking to my Patreon on YouTube (which will probably slow the growth of my Patreon), so that's a change you will see on my YouTube videos in the future.

I'm making this change because I'm concerned about my YouTube channel getting banned, especially since YouTube has already demonetized some of my audios for "sexually gratifying content," including the Q&A video where the "sexually gratifying content" YouTube highlighted was a clip of me thanking my subscribers for helping me reach 10,000 subs. Because of things like this experienced by myself and other creators, I do suspect that there are few (if any) humans involved in YouTube's current content moderation processes.

I'm not sure what can be done, but I did want all of you to be aware of what's going on with YouTube, since so much of the ASMR community operates there.

Time to reset the “days without YouTube BS” counter. Someday we might get to 1 :/ But thank you for the update. So nice to hear your voice again! It’s good that to know that you’re feeling better but don’t rush, don’t worry. With that being said however, I am unreasonably excited for the succubus audio. The layered effects in the vamp ones have definitely contributed in making them one of my fav series. Crossing my fingers that your Patreon growth continues well! Will be wonderful to see this become fully sustaining in the future.

Hi friend! ❤️ I’m so glad to hear that you’re doing so much better! But I can hear that there is still some pain in your throat. You can relieve a lot of stress in your throat by using your chest voice. (I’ve noticed that you have a tendency to talk through your sinuses.) and please remember voice rest! please take care of yourself! And at least I won’t be going anywhere! 1) Your time spent recovering (from anything) is more important than following a schedule. A rested and happy Ruby is the Ruby that makes the best content and derives the most fulfillment from making it. Always take the time you need :) 2) YouTube's algorithms, even before the rise of AI, have been wreaking havok on various content creators and ignoring pleas from even the most demonstrably innocent ones. I'm sorry that this is happening to you; everyone here knows you don't deserve it, and will support any alternative distribution method you deem fit. 3) If someone were to want to make a one-time donation to you, what would be the best way to do that?

I didnt even see this was an audio😅 Literally read everything and then I scrolled back and I was like "oh!" Anyway, glad you're feeling better, Ruby! Always a pleasure to hear your voice. 😌 But yeah, its sad seeing how Youtube is handling all these ASRM channels. Praying that whatever they got going on, doesnt stagnate the growth. Unfortunately YouTube is very opaque about how it does things. The only evidence I can offer is just the experience of creators on the platform and how YouTube generally treats us: every communication is automated, appeals never result in person-to-person communication or customized feedback, and moderation decisions are sometimes nonsensical (how can me thanking my subscribers for helping me reach 10k subs be considered "sexually gratifying"?) YouTube is visibly implementing generative AI in other ways on the site (e.g. generating video summaries), so to me it seems logical they might implement it in other processes like checking videos for alleged content violations, but I cannot say for certain. It would probably take somebody working at YouTube deciding to speak publicly about how things work for us to know for sure, since YouTube itself seems disinclined to offer transparency. I honestly have no idea! I'm still going to mention my patreon in my video description ( as "P*treon" lol) so I'm guessing it would be fine? But one of the issues is that any time anyone asks "Hey YouTube, can you clarify what it is and isn't okay to link to?" the answer is silence. So I have no idea! But feel free to mention it if you would like since I'm going to. It really means a lot to me that you all are willing to support me like this and ask these kinds of questions to that end, it really touches my heart and I appreciate it ❤️

Appreciate the update Ruby! Something I was curious about regarding socials: Have you ever looked into promoting your audios in the ASMR communities on Reddit? I'm not there frequently myself but there are a handful of performers I discovered via r/gonewildaudio that use that particular subreddit to spread their NSFW work at the very least, and I have to imagine there are a couple other subreddits for SFW audio as well. Beyond that, I don't know why I never thought to look you up on X or Bluesky so I'm going to resolve that. Fingers crossed the rest of your recovery goes smoothly and I'm looking forward to more content when you're ready and able!

I have thought about it and just never got around to being active much outside of ASMR Script Haven. But I probably should be more active there! I might make a non-patreon-exclusive NSFW audio just for those subs to help grow my audience, I've been mulling that idea over for a while. That's really helpful, thanks!! 🥰

Glad to hear you're recovering, and that you're ahead of the curve on pacing yourself ("mostly" haha). There are *many* words to be said both about YouTube's automated moderation and the broader consequences on our society of these platforms' hard- & soft-censorship of our language. But I'm preaching to the choir. I'm also glad this is gaining steam for you financially! Another commenter's idea of branching out on Reddit sounds like it could help, but I barely use that site so I don't have my finger on the pulse there. As for other social media, I like to encourage people to build a freer internet via federated platforms like Mastodon and such. But I barely have the mental overhead to keep up with my main account over there, let alone this side of the internet where I don't log in as much, so don't take this suggestion with all that much weight 😅 Here's hoping you continue to grow with minimal interference and can achieve full-time income 🖤
