Hey everyone! Here's this month's non-roleplay audio. Last month, everyone voted for a ramble about movies and video games, so here it is! This is a true ramble and I kind of go all over the place 😅 but hopefully it gives you some insight into my tastes and gives you some recommendations for things you might enjoy checking out yourself!

🐱My cats were very active while I was recording, so there's the occasional little bump or click from them, I edited out the most obnoxious ones but I hope it's okay that I left a few little ones in.

🌌 Also, I'm not getting a sponsorship or anything for talking about any of these, this was legit just a midnight ramble about stuff I like!

Movies and games mentioned in this audio, in the order they're mentioned(I link to the wikipedia articles for most, since those have a lot of contextualizing info):

Every Frame A Painting, Snowpiercer - Left or Right

Snowpiercer

Trip to the Moon

Citizen Kane

Pluto TV

Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster

Well that was fast. Thx for the audio Ruby😁

I got so excited when you mentioned Pokemon and Dragon Age! This was fun to listen to and really well done, thank you for this! You’re the best.

DeezKnights

I did 😊 And thank you for the Extra 🌟s i m u l a t i o n🌟 🙂‍↔️

The fact that you are into kaiju and Godzilla is so awesome!!! Makes the audios even better!!!

BumbleDuck

Kaiju movies, Pokémon, and a Pillars of Eternity reference all in 1 video?? I’m in the right place! I know big blockbusters get a lot of shit for being bland or whatever but Pacific Rim might be the most fun entertaining movie I’ve seen lol I can watch that anytime and it’s a blast. You’ve probably seen it but Oldboy if you like martial arts movies. That one is gnarly but awesome action sequences. Oh! If you like Pokémon, narrative games and a visual novel check out Digimon! I played one for the first time this year and it was really moving. Digimon Survive I think. Turn based novel RPG. Kids get Isekaid into the Digimon world and the story goes through them processing the traumatic stuff they go through with their soul mate Digimon trying to get back to earth. I did not expect the psychological aspect at all, so that was cool and unexpected. Do you watch any Horror movies? You mentioned Eldritch at some point and The Mist came to mind. A fun role play might be date needs cuddles after a scary movie session lol Thanks for the audios, great as always, sooo relaxing

Shadow Duck

Wait Farscape!? Ha! I knew you were awesome 😁

N K

So, lemme get this straight: you like Mythology, Folklore, Monsters and RPGs and you haven't played a SINGLE (I'm assuming like crazy right now, and I could be wrong so feel free to correct THE HELL outta me) Shin Megami Tensei game? *Gasps* You mentioned having a Switch and Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne is available on there, so I recommend that. Think of it like Pokémon, but with actual Gods, Demons and Angels from a multitude of religions and mythos. All of these beings are referred to as Demons in the game, and you can get them to join your party through Negotiations. No balls required!

Ruby Luna ASMR

I've played Persona 3 and 4 many times! P3P is one of my faves. I have a Jack Frost plush in my collection 🥰 No idea why I didn't think to mention that when I was rambling 😅 but I haven't played the other SMT games! I'll look into Nocturne because I definitely need a new game to play, thank you so much!! 🙇‍♀️❤️

Hi RubyLuna! ❤️ this was fantastic! I’ve already listened through this once, but I am going to listen to this again as I set my self for sleep. I’m not much of a movie person. (Obviously, most movie theaters aren’t blind people accessible.) But I remember watching the original Godzilla when I was cited. I remember not being that amazed by the movie, but I remember the conversation I had with the person I went with. They were telling me about what Godzilla was really about. And, I can respect how the Japanese people try to preserve their natural spaces as much as possible. And of course, I had to laugh at the fact that the Japanese were not subtle about their distaste for American culture invading their society! Lol! Speaking about giant monster movies! Did you know, Meryl Streep was not casted for the original King Kong movie because the director thought that she was too ugly? And now she is the patron saint of acting! (Shows them what a talented woman can do!) Fun fact about myself. One of the main ways I have learned to read Korean quickly was watching Chinese martial arts movies! Lol! ❤️ I have a distinct memory of my parents and I going to the Korean video store and borrowing episodes of Chinese martial arts shows by the dozens. “The three kingdoms“ “crutch crouching tiger, hidden Dragon“ they totally got me interested in martial arts! Unfortunately, my father refused to get me into traditional Chinese martial arts… So I took tae kwon do, andd taek keun. (That’s how I learned how to do horseback archery). Honestly, I’m not much of a gamer. But, I remember playing these mini computer games that you buy for 10 bucks when I was sided. I think my favorite were the “mystery case files“ series. Especially the Ravenhurst storyline. And with all of that, I also remember the Nancy Drew video games from her games. I love a good mystery, I love a good puzzle. But I remember when I was in elementary playing the original Atari, and Nintendo games. I also remembered the original Pokémon two! Lol! Now, visual novels! That was my jam! I grew up watching anime. But now that I think about it… Most of the stuff I watch was very queer.(Sailor Moon” “ranma 1/2” but if you want any manga, I would suggest, anything by clamp. (Sakura Cardcaptor“ (wish” and also a shit ton of Yuri. sorry, I can’t name them all, because I only know the Japanese name…😅 but if we’re talking about comic books! I would suggest“kabuki“ (of course, I’m not even sure if all of this is still in print. It’s been over 10 years since I have lost my site.) but, if you’re looking for comic books with queer representation, I would recommend “strangers in paradise“ by Terry Moore Currently, as a hobby, I’ve been making jewelry. I was a Goldsmith before I lost my site, and recently I realized most of the stuff I used to make back in the day. I could probably be able to do it now without too much issues. So, I’m starting very simple! I am making meditation beads! And you have inspired me to do a meditation beat! Lab grown, rubies, and moonstone! I think it would look really pretty! Although, I haven’t actually decided on what type of meditation beads. Should I keep at a count of 100? Or should I make it into Buddhist beads and keep it at 108? Decisions… Decisions… Lol! Then once I get comfortable, I’ll probably get into casting. It feels good to work with my hands again! Let me know if you wanna commission! No charge! Lol! Open parentheses within reason.) ❤️ Loved your audio! I’m going to bed now! If you could do me a favor, could you please raise the volume of your audio? It was kind of quiet, so I had to raise the volume, and when a notification came in, it scared the shit out of me! Thanks again for your hard work!

Ruby Luna ASMR

Thank you 🥰 yeah Farscape is in my top three TV shows, maybe top ever, I absolutely love it 🌌

N K

I should have known! I was definitely about to mention Persona since you mentioned social sims, lol, but I figured you were unintentionally kind of hinting at having played those games. Raidou Kuzunoha is great too, although that is more of an action RPG. Also, and stay with me here, Cyberpunk 2077 👀 Look, I'm not really into FPS games (this one has RPG elements though), but considering this one has lore that's been established since 1988, I figured you might like it. It has an excellent story and side stories, etc. It might hook you like it did with me. It's also on Switch. And I'm going to shut up now because I hate just throwing out recs 😫

Ruby Luna ASMR

I know Pacific Rim got some negative reviews but the second the big mech picked up a boat to club a kaiju with I was like "hahaha yesssss best movie ever." Sometimes you have to let the ten-year-old inside you have some fun too! Hahaha, yeah, definitely seen Oldboy. It's funny, any time I see a hallway framed a certain way in an action movie now I'm like "ah here comes the Oldboy homage" lol. I watched one of the Digimon shows when I was little, I didn't realize they had Visual Novels! That does interest me a lot. (Also speaks to my love for little creatures 👾) I do watch horror movies on occasion! I'm not a super horror aficionado like some folks but I def watch them. I'm the only person in the world who hasn't seen Obsession or Backrooms though I think 😅 I just haven't been getting out to the theater as much as I like. I did see Exit 8 though and I LOVED it (another Japanese film, I realize. Accidentally watching a ton of Japanese cinema lately I guess lol.) I haven't seen The Mist but I've heard really good things about it, and I'm seeing Thomas Jane is in it! I thought he was awesome on The Expanse, so I'm going to add that to my watch list!

BumbleDuck

Oh yeah, sometimes you just need some big ass robots fighting big ass monsters to take the edge off 😂 The Mist is Stephen King so is gets kinda heavy (lol) but really well done. I hope you enjoy! Now back to my Switch Pokémon leafgreen to look for Dragonaires in the Safari Zone for this freakin Dragon Tooth item! 😅

I'm Chris Handsome, you see how I look right?

Dude, Dragon Age is such an underrated franchise. I really wish people appreciated it the way that Elder Scrolls gets hyped. I picked up Inquisition back in 2016 not expecting much, and immediately fell in love with the writing and characters. I've always been a huge RPG fan, but up until that point, my main RPGs were things like Skyrim and Oblivion where the focus was more on exploring the world rather than forming relationships with the characters inhabiting them. To this day I find myself revisiting Dragon Age more than elder scrolls simply because the characters feel more like actual people. I finally played Origins in 2022 and consider it my favorite game in the series (we fr need a remaster), but I'll always ride for Inquisition.

Ruby Luna ASMR

Yeah, I really love the first three, DA: Origins is maybe my favorite game of all time. Can't recommend it to people anymore because the memory leak on the steam .exe makes it unplayable, so we neeeeed that remaster so bad lol 😅 but yes, the writing in those games truly is off the chain, deep love for those 🥰

Oracool

If you liked Fury Road, I'd give Furiosa a chance. I think it's good, though not as good as Fury Road lol

Ruby Luna ASMR

It would be hard for anything to be good as Fury Road! But I'll add it to my watch list, I did hear it was really good

Jeanne

one of my favorite movies is peter jacksons king kong

Jeanne

you NEEEEED to see furiosa

Jeanne

Stargate SG-1 shared some of the same actors as Farscape, so during one of the SG-1 anniversary episodes they did a parody of it

Jeanne

I like Steins;Gate and Danganronpa, they're very visual novel

Arthuro

Hi Ruby. Given the audio content you create, it makes sense that you enjoy RPGs like Persona. Since you like visual novels, you might want to try The House in Fata Morgana, Slay the Princess, Fate/Stay Night, or Until Then. And for cozy/aventure games, there’s Spiritfarer, Before your Eyes, Gris or To the Moon

Ruby Luna ASMR

Thank you so much for these recommendations! Excited to get into VNs and experience some new things 🥰❤️

Ruby Luna ASMR

Oh good note about the volume, I'll keep that in mind for next time. Loved this comment and hearing about your hobbies, jewelry-making sounds so incredibly cool??? Doing martial arts sounds wildly fun too, you've done so many interesting things!! This was so fun to read, always love reading your comments 🥰

Arthuro

And for classic RPGs, you’ve always got the reliable The Witcher 3 or Divinity: Original Sin 2. Let us know later how you get on with the recommendations we’ve left here, kisses! ♥️

Ruby Luna ASMR

I appreciate the time and care you put into these comments and recommendations, thank you! ❤️ I actually played Cyberpunk 2077 at launch, when it was wildly buggy. Hilarious experience walking down the street and then the parked cars just start exploding 😂

Ruby Luna ASMR

Thank you 😁❤️ always a pleasure to meet another kaiju fan 🥰🦖🦋

N K

No problem, Ruby ❤️ Ahaha! Oh god, I remember those days, especially since I played it at launch on a PS4 Slim 😭

I'm Chris Handsome, you see how I look right?

If you buy it on GOG it comes pre-patched with the 4gb fix, and if you do have the steam version you can download the 4gb fix for free online. You may still get the occasional crash, but it's much, much more stable!

alfie

Until then is a very visual novel-esque game I played recently, and one of the only games to have ever really made me cry, would definitely recommend

BaronValdi

Furiosa is mandatory for you if you like fury road, not quite as good as fury road but comes very close. The other Mad Max movies are also great, especially 2 (which I put over fury road even). If you enjoy post apocalyptic settings like that, you should definitely play fallout: new Vegas. It's age is noticeable at this point but to me the great story and different endings really overshadow those shortcomings.

Drasney

there is a big following tha says Chrono Trigger is one if not the best jrpg ever made. i wasnt abke to play it myself but, in my understanding it should be a really good story. I do think Mangas are a nice medium for storytelling. jeah the most are not known for story telling but there are really good ones out there which would knock out any movie or game. (yes even naruto if you really look into the charakters and their mativs, values and what it teaches younger people on a moral basis, sorry little bit of a freak for mangas) I could recommend games and movies but I am not sure if you havent seen them all :) what I would say is, the Guy Richi movies are so nice becaus of their story telling or the unique storytelling. I love Rock'n'Rolla, Gentlemen, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare love your rambles, still a calming voice, with a little excitement

Ruby Luna ASMR

tysm for the recs! I definitely read some manga, my favorite is Mushi-shi 🥰 I read the Naruto manga too but it was a while ago! I really like Guy Ritchie's directorial style, it's really kinetic, I should make a point to seek out more of his movies. and thank yoooou for the feedback, I'm so glad the ramble seems to have been enjoyable for people 🙇‍♀️💕✨

M

The most based takes I've heard in a long time. The Furious was an incredible movie - also saw it in theaters! Really appreciate the recommendations. I love martial arts movies and Western studios don't put out enough of them. Based on what you've mentioned I think you would like Black Dynamite. There's a lot of reasons I love it but it's basically a love letter to Blacksploitation films with lots of meta gags. Also Michael Jae White is an incredible martial arts so also maybe watch Blood and Bone. Excellent gritty movie where he shows off his skills

Patrick

Pluto tv Rocks!

Patrick

I find it very impressive that you are so interactive with your fans.

KnightofDucks

X-files is one of my favorite shows!

Patreonestlyimtired

I'm disappointed that Baby Assassins is about neither of the two possibilities that sprung to mind.
