I make an extremely important advancement in the name of science... and develop nuclear energy.

Few tips: Radars don't upset the biters. They are only upset by pollution. You definitely want radars at your outposts, because they allow you to look at that area on the map view without being there. Machines that are not currently working also don't pollute. So if your machines are not getting resources, or they're backing up, they won't pollute.

Rather than "be upset by" the radar, they're considered to be combat buildings and biters prioritise attacking those, though I've no doubt Tyler has no clue about that.

That is true, but this is only the case when the biters are already attacking. The radar by itself will not cause attacks to happen in the first place. It's the pollution that causes the attacks.

I'll even amend to say this: It's not just that they don't pollute when inactive, they also don't use power. In fact, the amount of pollution that a machine produces is correlated to the amount of power it's using. So when your base is low on power, and all machines are working at half their speed, they will also be producing half the pollution.

Haven't watched this episode yet, but damn, his rail layout and train stops so far makes me cringe hard... but in a good way lol! My first few factories were a mess too, and I'm glad seeing that despite the spaghetti, he's still making progress.

One thing to remember: Click on your power lines to look at your power graphs! I think those would've been fun to see as you brought your nuclear power online and shut down your coal power plants.
