SO much is misremembered about the story and it's worth learning the whole thing, because she was an amazing person, and it's frankly homophobic how much about her story is intentionally twisted. Someone already covered the Kitty Genovese disinfo campaign, but it also felt worth mentioning: The sentiment "Don't hesitate, just call 911" is worth reevaluating, especially as people who are concerned about racial justice (and occasionally discuss the criminalization of queerness and poverty as well). Not over here like "J'ACCUSE!" or anything! Just seemed like telling everyone to call the cops on each other might have been an oversight. lolol
