Ladies, I didn’t even think you would touch this. You are so committed, thank you!!

Alexandre H. A.

Congratulations on getting married, Darby. Hope we get to see some videos of the event or behind the scenes (only if you're comfortable sharing, of course).

To echo a little bit of what you guys were saying, drag race isn’t only the biggest drag platform it’s also the biggest queer platform. It’s given successful mainstream careers to queer artists that we would have never dreamed of a couple of years ago. I was always under the impression that Drag Race was a show about queer artists who do drag. That’s why there’s such an emphasis on trauma talk and overcoming the trauma so that little queer kids can look at the show and think hey if they can do it, so can I. Everyone can do drag, I’m not even remotely bothered that a straight man does drag but to be on the biggest queer platform when we still have yet to see any representation like a queer cis woman on the show? Seems a little lame to me. I do get triggered when people say that Mandy is “needed representation” because of masculine stereotypes. It just further pushes the narratives that gay men care more about straight men then they do women. Like women are THE biggest contributor to drag and THE least represented but a straight white man is the representation that we need? 🙄. Now that my expectations have shifted and that the show isn’t about queer performers, excited to see where we go with this but yeah we 1000% need more women on the show.

Glad to see another queen de Puerto Rico representando en Drag Race. Maybe this is a good time to ask why it's almost 2022 and Puerto Rico is still a colony of the U.S.

Colin Campbell

thank you my children for blessing us on this night

I don’t think stating that Maddy is needed representation is inherently sexist. I would love to see a cis woman queen on the show, and it is a shame that we haven’t yet, but it is what it is. There’s already been 14 seasons, we can wait another season. They know we’re not going to go anywhere, but because of the moment drag race has been going mainstream, having the publicity of there being a straight guy doing drag can bring in more people, both queer and straight, to discover the art of drag. I think Maddy IS much needed representation for all the feminine straight boys that are always labeled as gay even if they aren’t. They are just as mocked and ridiculed as gay people are, because we are both seen as less than a man as gay people tend to be more “feminine” for the sole reason that they don’t like women. Why not broaden the fanbase so the queens can have even more support than they do now? I definitely would have loved to see more cis women represented, but for now we have two trans women!! And EPIC trans women at that! (Kerri’s making me question my sexuality but that’s another point). Anyways, super excited to see Maddy, and she wouldn’t have been cast if her drag wasn’t worthy of the mainstage.

AS SOON AS I HEARD BOSCO I THOUGHT OF DARBY LMAO

Totally agree, it’s been 14 seasons, where are the queer women, give me a drag king! There’s been enough snatch game wins as a man for Christ’s sake. But I also do think his voice could be (emphasis on could cos I don’t trust the editors) an interesting perspective on how to be a respectful and supportive ally whilst taking part in queer culture. (Similar to a lot of straight viewers watching) Particularly from a straight man, where statistically the majority of hate comes from. Yes more types of queer voices need to be heard but there could end up being some good to come from this casting. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Thank you again for the birthday shameo! Love you ladies! 😘

The emo one is Rosalina, Rosalia is an amazing Spanish pop music artist haha

I think maybe you’re proving my point? Not having a queer cis woman is not a big deal, or it is what it is in your own words but having a straight man where gay men can identify and see themselves in, it’s much needed representation, like if we didn’t have literally 14 seasons of feminine men breaking down stereotypes. By giving Maddy so much power in breaking down stereotypes it’s almost like I have to believe in the idea that a gay man won’t be able to do it, we need straight men but we’re all men. It’s all the same thing. I do think there is an unconscious bias where gay men never truly take queer cis women seriously or as a valid part of the community. There is no sense of urgency to bring cis queer women to the forefront because we can still wait apparently. We’re literally accepting feminine straight men before them because we see ourselves more in that than lesbians 💀💀💀 it’s embarrassing really. Love that there are two trans women but we can care about more than one topic at a time 😉 Love trans representation, now let’s get better with the rest of our representation. Also again, I’m sure Maddy is a great performer. I’m just talking about the concept and the principal and not this specific person which I’m sure is great!

Darby congrats on the marriage. I am also engaged currently. So blessed that we could be brides at the same time. We have so much in common.

Connor Cline

You had some really great points there and I agree with most of them. I think queer women on the show is a must have and should have been done a long time ago. I was only trying to point out that Maddy will still be good representation for people. Is she as needed as queer women? Not even close. I think I personally take queer women seriously, and seeing Victoria on UK really opened my eyes on all the amazing drag performers, kings and queens, that we are missing out on. I was trying to show that the lack of representation from one community shouldn’t be used to justify not having representation from another.

Connor Cline

Now that I think about it actually, I can see where some of my bias has come into play. People saying the exact same thing about Victoria as they did Maddy never had me typing full on paragraphs. I would leave replys and comments here and there saying drag is for everyone and she’s going to slay, but I never talked about how important her representation is. Thanks for helping me reflect :)

I miss Chan. Darby goes in harder with the critics with her around. Alexis is super politically correct

Nathaniel Fuller

I just am in love with Alexis's wig this episode. I could not stop staring at it! I would add two points to the Maddy convo: 1) There is actually a history of straight male drag performers, including those such as Dame Edna. 2) I think, once you start dressing in drag and playing with gender, you are somewhat queer anyways. I do want us to stop focussing so much on Maddy and instead celebrate the much needed trans representation that is finally happening.

I'm excited in some way for all of them, which feels nice since I was sure I had terminal Drag Race Fatigue by now! (Also would like to LOUDLY agree that it is a REALITY TV SHOW as well as a media empire; express discontent/dissatisfaction with a consumer good by not consuming it and not giving related content views if you feel so strongly.)

Alvaro (alvuhrow)

I'm sorry, I know this is such a short and not important part of the video, but the sheer panic and "NOOOO" of Alexis in 2:13-2:17 has made me laugh the 8 times I've watched it
