RE: Big Hit vs. HYBE. Big Hit Entertainment is the name of the original company created by Bang Si-hyuk (a.k.a. "Bang PD" or "Hitman Bang") - it's the music label to which BTS members are signed. On October 15, 2020, on the strength of the success of BTS, Bang PD bought several other small private music labels, took Big Hit Entertainment public and rebranded the parent company "HYBE." As a thank you and acknowledgement of the BTS contribution to him even being able to take the company public, Bang PD gave EACH BTS member 10M USD in stocks from his own portion of stocks. At first, those stocks were not voting stocks, but later they were transitioned to voting shares.
