π Project-Realish 1.4 - Devlog #3 Rainy Weather & Night (Patreon)
Content
Hello Captains! ππ
We are getting closer to the finish line with Project-Realish 1.4. In my previous two updates, I talked about the new 16K road textures and surface improvements. However, for a while now, Iβve been obsessing over the biggest missing piece in ETS 2 and ATS: that flat, "soulless" night atmosphere.
You know the feeling; when night falls in the game, it gets dark, but it never felt "alive." That changes now.
In my latest tests (Devlog #3), Iβve managed to push the game engine to its absolute limits by integrating Screen Space Reflections (SSR) and Realistic Light Refraction. We have finally achieved an atmosphere that rivals the reference photos! π₯
Here are the notes for the Night & Atmosphere Revolution coming with Project-Realish 1.4:
π§οΈ WHATβS NEW? (Changelog - Lighting & Atmosphere)
β Real-Time Reflections (SSR Integration): Wet surfaces donβt just shine anymore; they mirror the environment like a glass surface! Your truckβs lights, street lamps, and neon signs now dance on the wet asphalt. That "plastic" look is gone, replaced by a cinematic wetness.
β Depth & Contrast (Ray Tracing Feel): The old "grayish" nights are history. Shadows are now pitch black, while light sources are blindingly vivid and crisp. The artificial brightness under the truck is fixed; places where light doesn't reach are now truly dark.
β Rain Visuals & Physics: The distribution of raindrops on the asphalt and the light refraction rates have been re-tuned. The way water scatters light on the windshield while wipers are running is now much more realistic.
β Full Synergy with 16K PBR Textures: The 16K road textures I announced earlier now work in perfect harmony with this new lighting system. You will be able to see the wetness on every single pebble on the asphalt.
π BEFORE vs. AFTER
Before: Flat black ground, artificial-looking headlights, and a dull night driving experience.
Now: Trailer lights reflecting on wet roads, neon reflections from gas stations hitting the ground, and a night atmosphere so good you won't want the sun to rise!
π¬ Your Feedback: What do you think about these improvements? Let me know in the comments! Version 1.4 is coming very soon; I'm running the final tests. Stay tuned and buckle up! π£οΈβ¨
