Hi folks! Due to my back injury I couldn't do my planned video for this month but instead I somehow whipped up an hour long analysis of star wars instead. It's about the prequels and why they are good, and a lot about why I don't like the Sequel movies.

Why did I talk about star wars? Because they're a good way to talk about historical discourse analysis, and by god it's hard to find another opportunity to ever talk about it in a way that's fun to do.

Also, it's a bit of media analysis, which I rarely do! And it's fun! I hope you think it's fun too!

Long time watcher, finally joining the patron crew. I really like the politics of the prequels and Andor, so you're not the only one who thinks they're good, actually. The sand, though...sure is rough and course. ;P I'm psyched for you to start ADHD meds. The first dose I took, almost two years ago, I literally cried. I didn't realize how NOISEY my brain was until then. Meds for me are like putting on noise-cancelling headphones in a busy cafe. I actually want to, and do, finish things I start. I can have coherent conversations because I can actually access the facts I've squirreled away. I can focus on work when it's time to and get back to my non-work obsession afterwards. Hyperfocus is one of my biggest symptoms and, while you might think it's nice to be able to focus on one thing for a long time, I would focus on The Thing so long I: skipped several meals; put off going to the restroom until it was truly now or mess; didn't go to sleep and it was time to go to work; was in actual pain because of sitting so long. And it wasn't always something I *wanted* to focus on. In those moments, especially, I felt like I was trapped in my mind yelling, "just put it down already, it's bed time!" but I couldn't. And now I can. And I can choose what to focus on. If ADHD is what you have, I hope meds work for you! Figuring out my dose took a little bit, and because they're listed as Schedule II in the US, I felt like a criminal asking to increase my dose. Hopefully you don't have that stigma, but just know that fiddling with dosage until it feels right is normal. I hope your back heals soon, also! Thanks for making such thoughtful videos.
