“Damn it. I thought the things I’d done were already monstrous enough, but those Reptilians are completely devoid of humanity.

“No, they’re not human. They’ve probably seen us humans as nothing more than test subjects from the very beginning.”

Juan went on cursing for quite a while. Surprisingly, his tirade actually boosted everyone’s morale.

The enemy was so thoroughly evil that, as Juan continued railing against them, the warriors gradually developed a powerful sense of righteous purpose.

In their minds, they were no longer bloodstained thugs. They were brave warriors fighting for justice.

“Boss, let’s kill those bastards!”

“Boss, for the sake of humanity, let’s slaughter every last one of them!”

Juan looked approvingly at his men and shouted, “All right! Let’s send those old lizards to meet Mictlantecuhtli!”

Liam, meanwhile, was enthusiastically filming the warriors’ expressions.

“Viewers, these are our heroes. They are about to bravely confront evil.”

The warriors excitedly struck all kinds of poses for the camera before Juan led them deeper inside.

Before long, rows of cells appeared along both sides of the dungeon, but every one of them was empty.

Liam began to wonder why the Reptilians had gone to so much trouble to build a dungeon here. What exactly were they researching? And what kind of power had that expressionless woman possessed?

The group continued deeper until they reached the very end of the dungeon, where an iron door stood before them.

Juan swallowed, nodded to the men behind him, then yanked the door open and charged inside with the others.

To everyone’s surprise, they found themselves in a bright, spotless office, a stark contrast to the dungeon outside.

Liam surveyed the room. It looked like a place where the Reptilians collected data from the dungeon. Given that this facility was part of a hospital, they were most likely conducting human experiments here.

As for the results of those experiments, the expressionless woman they had just encountered had already given them an answer. A body capable of resisting divine power.

Just then, faint voices reached their ears.

“I am a god...”

“I am a god...”

Juan glanced around but saw nothing nearby. He cursed loudly.

“Damn it! Whatever you are, come out!”

But the faint voices didn’t stop. Instead, they grew louder.

“I am a god...”

“I am a god...”

The warriors, still fired up from Juan’s earlier speech, weren’t intimidated. They quickly shifted formation, forming a circle and watching every direction for approaching enemies.

“Boom!”

A faint tremor ran through the underground chamber. With his enhanced hearing, Liam could easily tell that it came from countless footsteps mixed with the sound of limbs scraping against one another.

But there hadn’t been a single person here when they entered. Where were those sounds coming from?

Liam raised his head and carefully examined his surroundings. The desks and chairs were arranged neatly, while the walls were so white they looked freshly painted.

The place was too clean. It didn’t look like somewhere people had been working for years.

“Juan, watch the walls.”

Juan acknowledged him. He had noticed that something was wrong as well.

“Crack!”

Cracks suddenly spread across the surrounding walls. Then pairs of eyes appeared within them.

The cracks widened, gradually revealing human-shaped outlines.

The seemingly pristine walls were made entirely of expressionless people.

Faint voices came from all their throats.

“I am a god...”

They slowly peeled themselves away from the walls, exposing the yellowed plaster underneath.

Then their bodies began convulsing violently.

“Now! Open fire!”

The warriors immediately opened fire. Deafening gunshots thundered throughout the office as the strange figures fell in droves.

But there were simply too many of them. The warriors couldn’t stop every one of these monsters that seemed incapable of feeling pain. Many broke through their line and hurled themselves at the warriors from the Home of Wanderers.

“Come on! I’ll take you with me!”

With their guns emptied of bullets, the warriors swung them like clubs and plunged into brutal hand-to-hand combat with the monsters.

Even Liam could no longer keep filming properly. All he could do was weave and dodge through the packed crowd.

Spotting an opportunity, he tossed the camera into a corner. After making sure it could still capture most of what was happening, he joined the fight himself.

Faced with these bizarre monsters, everyone was dragged into the most primitive kind of bloody close-quarters combat.

Liam decided to test whether his spiritual energy still worked. He transformed his handgun into a laser gun, aimed at one of the expressionless figures, and fired.

The man’s head exploded instantly, spraying black blood over the people behind him.

These people were only immune to attacks made directly with divine power.

Liam suddenly remembered the Goat Man he had encountered before and shouted, “Use divine power to strengthen your bodies!”

Seeing that Liam’s power still worked, the remaining warriors felt a spark of hope.

Juan thought for a moment, then called upon his divine power. Instead of turning it into a weapon, he poured all of it into strengthening his body.

He swung his rifle and sent the person in front of him flying with a single blow.

Realization struck, and he shouted excitedly, “Men, it works!”

The warriors immediately followed suit.

Golden light flashed as their muscles swelled one after another and their strength skyrocketed.

What had been a completely one-sided battle instantly turned into a stalemate.

Before long, even that stalemate became a rout in their favor.

Although the expressionless people had incredibly tough bodies and were immune to direct attacks from divine power, they were still nothing more than mindless monsters. Once the warriors figured out how to deal with them, they could no longer pose a real threat.

After wiping out all the monsters in the room, Liam looked over the battlefield. Only a little over a dozen of Juan’s people were still standing, and every one of them was wounded.

The battle had been brutal.

Just as everyone began to relax and prepare to rest for a moment, a sound came from the doorway.

“Clap! Clap! Clap!”

Everyone turned toward the entrance.

A tall, thin man in a suit stood there, applauding with an expressionless face.

“I didn’t expect you inferior races to be somewhat capable. Those defective specimens couldn’t even kill you?”

The condescending mockery immediately enraged everyone.

Juan was just about to step forward and start cursing when Liam beat him to it.

Liam raised his microphone and politely asked, “Sir, I take it you’re a Reptilian. What are your thoughts on the current situation? And what exactly are you trying to accomplish with these experiments?”

At the sight of the microphone, the man in the suit instinctively straightened his tie and answered solemnly.

“The current situation in Boston is excellent. Our various policies... Hm?”

The man suddenly realized what he was doing and stared deeply at Liam.

“It’s always you. You’ve destroyed everything we spent years setting up here.”

“Thank you for the compliment. I’ll take that as recognition of my work.”

The man in the suit finally lost his composure.

The scales he had been using as a disguise began falling away in sheets, and his suit tore apart as his body expanded.

In an instant, he transformed into a massive Reptilian two and a half meters tall.

“For an inferior race like yours, force is the only way to make you shut up.”
