Freetown Forest Park, inside the RV campground.

Maria was preparing dinner for everyone.

Ever since the mobile home had been hooked up to propane, the oven worked much better, and she could use several gas burners at the same time.

With some help from the older kids, preparing dinner for the dozen or so people there had become easy enough.

She checked the time. Liam wouldn't be getting off work for another two hours, so she turned the oven down a little. By the time he got back, dinner should be ready for everyone to eat together.

Meanwhile, Bob and Bobby were outside playing with the younger children.

These had easily been the happiest days the two brothers had ever known. Every day, once they finished their work, they could spend their free time playing with people closer to their own mental age.

Before coming here, they could never have imagined living like this.

Just then, a bus pulled up outside.

A group of young men and women got off, holding a map and pointing back and forth at it.

They soon noticed the two brothers.

A beautiful young woman walked over and politely asked,

"Hello, big guy. Is this Freetown Forest Park?"

Bob nodded.

"Yes, ma'am."

Ma'am?

The woman looked slightly offended.

"Why are you calling me ma'am? Do I look that old?"

Bob shook his head and answered honestly,

"No. My mom told us to call grown women that. It's polite."

The woman hadn't expected him to have an intellectual disability.

After a brief pause, she said,

"You can just call me Alison."

"Okay, Miss Alison."

Alison was speechless.

But she was short on time and didn't feel like arguing over how he addressed her, so she continued,

"Do you live in this forest?"

"No. I live in an RV."

Alison took a deep breath.

"Then do you know the forest well?"

Bob nodded.

"Of course. My little brother and I go into the forest to play every day."

Alison looked at the two enormous brothers and found the whole situation a little absurd.

She returned to the bus, where a man immediately came over.

"How did it go? Do they know their way around the forest?"

"Chad, I've got good news and bad news. The good news is they know the way. The bad news is they have intellectual disabilities."

Chad smacked his forehead.

They had gone through all that trouble to get here, only to discover that the map was practically useless once they were actually inside the forest.

There weren't many locals around either. After finally finding two of them, they had no idea how they were supposed to communicate properly.

But their orders were absolute.

They had to find Liam, who supposedly lived somewhere in the forest, and assassinate him today.

Unfortunately for Chad, he had no idea their information was already outdated.

"Forget it. We'll use those two. We have to get into position before Liam gets off work."

The others nodded seriously.

Alison went back to the brothers with a friendly smile.

"Hello. What should I call you two?"

"I'm Bob. This is my little brother, Bobby."

"I'm Bobby. This is my big brother, Bob."

The exchange nearly left Alison completely confused.

"So, Bob, we're students from a nearby university. We have a research assignment in the forest, but we got lost. Could you show us the way?"

Bob agreed without hesitation.

"My mom says we should always help people who need it."

Then he turned to the children.

"You guys go home first. Tell Mom we're helping some students find their way."

The children nodded vaguely and ran back home to tell Maria.

When Maria heard what had happened, she wasn't particularly worried.

They were only showing someone the way. What could possibly go wrong?

Besides, she had never seen her boys get hurt before. Even the beasts in the forest were afraid of them.

Meanwhile, inside Freetown Forest, the two brothers moved along at a brisk pace while the young men and women followed closely behind.

But the longer they walked, the stranger the group found it.

Their physical abilities had already surpassed those of ordinary humans, yet they were actually having trouble keeping up with the brothers.

Chad moved closer to Alison and whispered,

"Do you think those two are lying to us? Maybe they're not ordinary people at all."

Alison wasn't sure either.

"But they don't look like they're pretending."

"Exactly. That's what makes sense. I know about a mysterious creature called a troll.

"They're huge, incredibly strong, and not very smart."

As Alison listened, she mentally matched each trait to the brothers.

"You know, that actually makes some sense. Those two really don't seem like normal people."

Chad nodded repeatedly.

"Exactly. And did you see those kids? Trolls love eating children."

"So that's it. It all fits."

Since they already distrusted the brothers, their speculation quickly became more and more ridiculous.

"I think they're leading us deeper into the forest so they can eat us. They're moving this fast because they're trying to wear us out."

Chad continued making wild guesses, completely forgetting that he was the one who had asked them for directions in the first place.

Instead of being frightened, Alison actually looked excited.

"But there's something they don't know. They picked the wrong people to mess with. We're nothing like those fragile humans. We're members of the noble Blood Clan."

"Heh heh heh!"

Bobby heard the sinister laughter coming from behind them and looked at Bob in confusion.

"Big brother, what are they laughing about? It sounds creepy."

Bob answered solemnly,

"Little brother, that's their business. We just need to show them the way."

"Okay, big brother."

"But let's hurry. It's almost dinner time."

"Yeah. Now that you mention dinner, I'm getting hungry."

Chad had been watching the brothers closely from behind.

As soon as he saw them speed up, he immediately said,

"I knew it. They've realized that we've figured out what they're planning. Look, they're moving even faster now. The shorter one is probably wondering what we taste like."

The others all nodded in agreement.

Chad continued,

"We can't just sit around waiting for them to attack. We don't know how strong these trolls really are, so we can't let them use their full strength. We have to strike first.

"Todd, test them."

Todd nodded.

He immediately transformed into a bat and shot forward, quietly landing on Bob's back without being noticed.

Then he extended his fangs and bit into Bob's neck.

The instant he tasted the blood, Todd felt as though he had found the purest, most exquisite blood in the entire world.

It felt as if it could cleanse every impurity from his body.

The sensation was so wonderful that he felt like he was about to ascend straight to heaven.

In fact, he really did.

From Chad's point of view, Todd climbed onto Bob's neck, took a single sip of blood, and instantly crumbled into ash.

"Little brother, my neck feels kind of itchy."

"Big brother, maybe there are mosquitoes in the forest."

"Damn mosquitoes."

Bob muttered as he scratched his neck.

The bite wound had already healed completely.

Chad stared in horror.

He had no idea what to make of what he'd just seen, so he instinctively turned to Alison beside him.

"What do you think just happened?"
