Hi familia, today we are joining Jhope on the DdeunDdeun Channel with familiar friends, Yu Jae Suk and Jo Seho! 👏BTS has done past interviews like You Quiz on the Block, Jimin Beat Coin, and Jin recently on Screw Balls. So we’re looking forward to their reunion, their conversations, and hopefully we get more final thoughts from Jhope on finalizing Hope on the Stage and his future performance at Lollapalooza in Berlin! 🙌

For some context regarding Jo Seho’s comments regarding being scared of getting bashed online for his bag/clothes: i think it is both a cultural and a job thing. Regarding his job, he is a comedian and they are not known to ”flex”, even when they get successful. It is rare to be able to make it an actual full time job being a comedian, so if you make it big you are expected to not show off and to stay humble. This is also where the cultural differences come in i think. I am not korean but i think there are similarities in how my country (sweden) views being ”flashy” and showing off your wealth. I think especially the US and americans might have a lot less of a sensitivity to these things, and it might not be viewed as negatively to show off your wealth. This also might just be a stereotype on my part, but from what i have gathered there is a big difference in how money and making big purchases are viewed in korea vs the US. Obviously it varies a lot depending on who you are even in the US, but i think if you are a celebrity in the US it would not be a sensitive topic to buy a LV handbag and talk about it. But Seho did receive some criticism for being flashy and buying expensive things earlier in his career when he had been known for being more of a typical ”struggling comedian”, and then he made it bigger and when it showed in his fashion some people thought it was tasteless and braggy. Sorry for rambling, i hope this makes sense, Moral of the story: Korea and also the comedy industry don’t love when you are too flashy, unless you are an idol or performer, where i think the standards are a bit less critical because it is seen as a visually expressive occupation. Seho has experience of articles being made criticizing his choice of handbags and how much he spends on fashion, when that is not the standard and norm for how a comedian is ”supposed” to be.
