Garlic familia, today is the day! We’re jumping into our second Seventeen album deep dive with the one and only FACE THE SUN! 🔥

After reading your comments this seems to be a favorite and beloved album among Carats, and we can’t wait to find out why!

We’ll be starting with the teasers, highlight medley (aka the GOATed medley), and then deep diving into Darl+ing 💖

And as always, our album reactions aren’t just listens, we go through the lyrics, MVs, choreography practices, special stages, live performances and behind-the-scenes…we try not to miss a thing 🤭

Also thank you all so much for your contribution in sharing links with us, it was extremely helpful! 🙏

P.S. If we missed anything, please let us know below 🫶

Finally!!! My day off is set now!!!! QOTD: it is hard to choose a favourite song from this album but I would say My current obsession is Ash. Fun fact, this album came in 2022, and since then Carat had been requesting SVT to do a live performance for ASH, but it seemed like they completely forgot about this song, (just like BTS forgot about louder than bombs 😂 ) But Carats were blessed in 2024, when in their previous concert, SEVENTEEN right here, suddenly started with the intro music of HOT, but started performing ASH We were so happy to see that song being performed because it was such an unusual song from them, and obviously a very good one

Hey familia!! Shadow is definitely my favorite song from this album!

France Ezikiel Garcia

QOTD: HARD QUESTION bc I have the top 3 contenders for this. It's Shadow, If you leave me, and ASH (bc of Vernon, and he's my bias!) And I have always said that ASH is my 'twerk song,' you'll know why once you hear it. LOL

^_^

AHH TY BOTH!! I appreciate how you're taking your time with each song and giving them all special attention with this layout! QOTD: i'm always conflicted bc this entire album is a MASTERPIECE, but I have to choose between Shadow and If You Leave Me🙂‍↕️

Carat for 2 years and a half and excited to jump on this journey with you familia!!

QOTD: If you leave me! I'm always biased with svt ballad track 😂

QOTD: Shadow 🔛🔝

Srish_moonchild

Thank you for such an amazing reaction familia!! ❤️ I had so much fun watching it! I became a carat during this era so going through all this again with you guys feels nice 😊 QOTD: it’s such a hard pick as all songs are such masterpieces 🤭🤭 but if I had to I’d say Shadow, Ash & Hot

Lele

QOTD: IF you leave me, Don Quixote and ash!!! Fun fact: IUs favorite song is Domino. Also to your question who leads the choreographie, thats mostly hoshi but as you can see there is the choreographer (youngjun) and their performancedirector (hyelim). I belive Youngjun has been with them since mansae and is also very good friends with the members espacially with Hoshi since they choreographed many songs togheter, He works on all of their songs. Hyelim has been with them since predebut, she kinda was a mom figure to them in trainee days. She is the one they mentiond in concerts aswell. (sorry if my english is bad i am sill learning)

Favorite song?! It's genuinely so hard 😭 If I had to choose it's between Don Quixote, Shadow & Ash (also March - it's fight mode)....I'm very much like Uthman in that they're all exactly my taste. Ash makes me rock out, DQ make me vibe & Shadow brings me to tears 😌

Callie

will watch this tonight wohooo! but my favorite song in this album idk if this an unpopular opinion but i really really love ‘bout you 😭🥹

Thank you so much for the deep dive!! And so excited for next parts. P.S. what carats were singing in the performance is the Fan Chant. SVT usually release fan chant videos and carats learn and perform it. In some carats sing, in some they rap and some have choreo too. There is one from covid where they had to use Sogo (a small drum) on beat. Btw few fanchants are very hard. Like the song "Getting Closer" carats say all member full name in age order and then in reverse order. And for "Thanks" they say all 13 member names in 5 seconds so yea. Even SVT suck at it haha. QOTD: It is difficult to choose my fav song from this album. ㅠㅠ Really sorry haha. P.S. I had danced to the whole Darling song during a family event ㅠㅠ I am not a great dancer, so I was not that detailed and modified certain steps, also, I was doing it alone. My non-carat fam of course, thought I did well cuz they have not seen the OG haha. Tho some of my carat friends who have seen the video said it was cute and they liked it haha. It took me like almost a week. I didn't need any synchronisation either so a plus! But that's why this is one choreo I know a bit in detail haha. (It is hard, I watered it down quite a bit)

This was a great start for the deep DEEP dive, familia! Excited for the next ones🤗 QOTD: if i really really have to choose, my top 3 would be Shadow, If You Leave Me and Don Quixote.

Why garlic familiaa?? what happened lol, I just being so busy this month so idk why Im being garlic right now 😅

Srish_moonchild

During watching nana bnb they made a joke, saying that we are garlic (it was when joshua was adding garlic to some sauce he was making) and as garlic is one the most important ingredients in any Korean cuisine, it became a running joke kinda like we being imp for them lol Hope this makes sense 😬

Yue

In a Nana BnB reaction they were joking around while the members were cooking, saying that garlics made everything taste better, so we are now garlics. 🤣

Katrina

My fav song from this album: Shadow

Alyse Wallace

Just got back from their Washington Dc Show familia 🙌🏾🩷 Magical!! QOTD: Its hard to pick but i do listen to Don Quixote, Shadow more.

qotd : Since it's hard to choose just one, I'll pick darling, HOT, and shadow. For darling, the song is genuinely so sweet it makes me smile when i listen to it🥰 For HOT, the instrumental is really cool, we even nicknamed it 'best intro' (was the 'best intro' first created at AAA or the Be The Sun concert? cmiiw). And I really love the vocals and melody of Shadow, especially the performance at the Be The Sun 'Addshow' in Jakarta (iykyk😋). Regarding their move to HYBE and the fact that there was interference involved, that's why they poured everything into this cb. They even said 'I'm not SEVENTEEN anymore' in their comeback trailer😂 As for the highlight medley, they always release it before the MV teaser to tease us. Your guess that it was Wonwoo in the song Shadow is correct. Wonwoo takes the part in the first chorus, while Hoshi takes the part in the second chorus. Wow, you guys are cool for being able to recognize them just by their voices!👏👏 I like their dedication when they dance, they don't underestimate even the slow or cheerful songs. In fact, those songs are often more difficult because they have to control their facial expressions and their movements compared to a powerful song.

I don't think this album is about moving to Hybe. I have seen a lot of the content based around it. However as a Carat I know there is always hidden content out there. I've never seen them say this album is about that. What I do know is Woozi said to IU that he started writing for the album in Jan 2022 I think, and it took 4 months to complete. They moved to Hybe in 2020. Sure some of the songs could have to do with the struggles involved but I feel that would be a fans interpretation. Hoshi said If You Leave Me was about the fears they had of loosing fans during Covid. I'm pretty sure most of the album is about the struggles and fears that Covid brought on. Now Covid came about right after they moved though. I'm mostly saying that I don't like to say an album is about something if they didn't say that. If they did and there is something I haven't seen, I would love a Link. Also I think it would be great for you guys to see IUs pallette with them when they promoted this album, maybe when you finish. And Hoshi did content with the choreographer the day before he left for the military. It's very insightful and fun. https://youtu.be/Njfy8XDmSU8?si=QnTfIF3fDAf7PNpU My fave song is If You Leave Me
