Going back in time to their second album!! This album isn't what we expected. 🤣 Not in a bad way it's just very different from what we hear them sing and rap about nowadays! Also since they were a hip-hop group, there were way more rap verses compared to their later albums!

As young teenage boys, making their first mini-album they already had such a strong message and movement. A message that would have helped us at that time. 💜

We are learning so much about the members come up and history already in just the second album 😊 we can't wait to see what other golden songs we haven't heard yet from BTS' discography!

P.S. Thanks to all the familia members who reached out to help us find all the links and information for BTS's Discography, we appreciate you guys caring so much about how we take the album in. WE PURPLE YOU! 💜

PSS: Golden Disk Awards 2021 performance reaction coming very soon!! 💜

Let's get it! Edit: If only BTS was there when I was at school haha I graduated on the year they had their debut hahaha but still their messages from way back still applies to me now And I think that is the reason why I really like their music..💜💜💜 Btw. Have you watched the dance practice for Attack on Bangtan/Rise of Bangtan? LIT

CJ

Obligatory, support message for click-click-bang-bang Bangtan. Thank you 😂

Carol 💜

YEEES LET'S GET IT!!! One of my favorite albums because the songs.... Amazing since the beginning, right?

Beverly Natasya

SINCE I'M ON QUARANTINE BECAUSE OF THIS COVID VIRUS, TIME TO WATCH IT NOW :)

Alexa

Love this album so so much!!!! one of my faves of old times!!!!

J.N

Y’all seem shocked.... you ain’t seen nothing yet 🤣 Bts aren’t the innocent boys y’all think they are 💀💀

Joy

Idk if you notice in the N.O. mv they walk down the white stairs. They did the same in the mma2020 performance they even show the shot of the shoe. It's right after the black swan dance . It all connects together . I like that you guys are going through the albums more.

J.N

I really enjoyed relistening to the album with you guys it was so fun💜

CJ

I really encourage you to read song credits alongside the albums (on your own even) to understand the BTS of BTS. Some of the masterpieces were produced by the members and almost all their songs had involvement (writing, composing) of the members. Obviously, their earlier albums were VERY rapline focused but as they progress you'll see how the vocal line gradually starts showing up more frequently :) This will also make you familiarise with some common BH inhouse team names. They all have different music "colours" (Ex:, PDogg, HissNoise, Slow Rabbit, Supreme Boi etc)

Joy

You definitely need to rewind alot during the Cypher parts the rap line goes fast.🤣

CaroJK

I'm so happy you are doing this "travel" to their old discography and appreciate each song with their lyrics, also it feels like I'm re-discovering them 🤣

damla

familia just so u know the lyrics video that u watched of paldogangsan wasn't accurate bc it only showed the rappers but it's actually all the members in the song💜

Ophelia

You guys should really react to DKDKTV's explanation of Satoori Rap, it makes it make a lot of sense. And you'll see how amazing the song is.

Crazy Fox

ooooooh I am sooo love this album! Thank you!!

damla

there's some explanation videos of korean satoori (dialect) for example dkdktv so maybe u can check it out to understand better

damla

familia i loved this reaction so much!! ur reaction to namjoon's savage rap and jungkook rapping was hilarious😂💜 i'm so glad ur doing so much research and going back to old albums its just so cool

damla

also u should definitely do reactions to the members individual mixtapes as well!! u can do it just like these videos bc for example for agustd mixtape u rly need to dive deep into the lyrics and background to understand certain things! but i hope you'll do those too💜

jimin7_army

your reaction is so funny and cute. i love it

msathenas

they talked so much shit in the first albums i love it SJSJ

msathenas

and yes check out the satoori rap explanation!!!

Carol 💜

Guys, the color coded lyrics for Paldogangsan are a bit wrong because this version is of all the members, it was originally a predebut rap line song but they readjusted and it's all the members there! Also, i think you guys should watch the DkDkTv explanation to really grasp the meaning of some things 😂 I'm sooo excited to continue this journey because there are so many songs that I wanted you guys to react to and it's finally time!!! Let's get it familia! P.S.: my favorite songs are We On and If I rules the world, they are sooo amazing P.S.²: And Yoongi sampled the Intro for Shadow, actually all the rap line songs in map of the soul was samples of earlier intros, 2 cool 4 skool was Ego, this was Shadow and the next one is for Persona

Carol 💜

Next album is where my all time favorite song is and I'm SOOOO excited for you reaction!!!

Mary

you're right in saying that this album is heavily connected to mots7! as well as the title tracks being the reverse of each other, yoongi took the sample of joon's intro to use in his solo song on mots7, interlude: shadow! yoongi talks about it a bit in the break the silence movie, if u remember, and also yesterday it was one year since shadow was released! Also, i really wanna reiterate the fact that these boys came from nothing. when they were writing these lyrics, (escpecially we on) they were still all sharing one room. they had so much belief that they would make it big that they immortalized that promise in their music. they KNEW they had to make it, because there literally wasn't any other option but the succeed. What i find adorable is that jk was still in high school when he was singing all these love songs about high school romance, idk i just think it's so cute and probably got him a lot of attention in school despite how shy he was back then <3 Also, there are a few references to 'runch randa' which was namjoon's rap name before he debuted! I really really 100% totally and utterly can't express enough how much you guys should react to live performances of their earlier music. you see the passion in their lyrics, now imagine that passion on stage, when there are thousands of armys watching. they go insane and it's great! obviously i know u guys have a schedule so reacting to concerts will probably have to wait but pls do consider it!!

Malaya Nicole

AAAA i love this so much!! going back to their previous albums really reaffirms my love for the boys they've been delivering excellence since the very beginning. I really appreciate this, it's so nice to go back and appreciate the albums as a whole instead of individual songs on shuffle . I was about to say the same as the other familia in the comments, but it would be great if you checked out (on your own time ofc) DKDKTV's Paldogangdan Explained if only to further understand it better :) there's so much about the little intricacies of their culture that I didn't understand as a foreigner that I eventually got to know about just because of BTS. It's a joy. also I remember you reacted to The Rise of Bangtan maybe a year ago?? It was from the Japan Epilogue concert, so the lyrics were in Japanese but yes, they're very energetic when they perform it it's a blast. this is the longest comment I've ever made, but I'm just so happy!! thank you for constantly sharing your love for BTS, love you familia 💜

Holly-Jayne

Omg I literally just got this album today! 🤣💜

saraf

Are you guys going to listen to their Japanese albums like face yourself too?

SK

Thank you, thank you!!! Purple you guys!!

Kaylie .

Yay! I feel like I'm learning so much more about BTS through these videos with you guys!

Yeah the live performances of these songs will be in the memories 2014 through 2019 so they will definitely get to see these stages a lot. Im guessing they’ll start 2014 memories after finishing 2019

MinLuna21

You should watch the live performances of these songs especially rise of bangtan the one they're on Japan for it is really FUN!!!

essi

Jimin wearing Jordans isn't actually that unorthodox. he still wears them to this day.

briana

I highly recommend watching DKDKTV (They're Korean YouTubers named Danny and David) explain the Satoori Rap. I am not Korean but Yoongi's dialect which makes up the region/province that has Daegu (his hometown along with Taehyung) and Busan (JK and Jimin's hometown) is a bit of a tough guy sort of language. This province is called the Gyeongsang province which has been split between North and South but people from those areas speak similarly. Koreans say that hearing people from that area talk makes them think that they're fighting with each other. I don't know much about Gwangju (where Hobi is from) but it is in the Jeolla province. I read a book by a Korean American who talked about Korean communities in the US and he mentioned that his parents being from Gwangju was looked down upon by other Koreans from Seoul. Anything outside of Seoul is considered country since Seoul is the center of everything and the biggest commercial center with high powered jobs and industries. It's kind of like Paris or London or Tokyo. I've seen people joke that people outside of Seoul think men from Seoul are pampered and stuck up and not really "everyday men" types. Namjoon is from Ilsan and Seokjin is from Gwacheon which is in the Gyeonggi province meaning that it surrounds the capital of Seoul. Most people from there speak in a Seoul dialect. DKDKTV also has a video that talks about dialects. Jimin mentioned that when he first moved to Seoul from Busan, people gave him a hard time at school because of his Busan accent. Jungkook also mentioned that his Busan accent can be thick at times, especially when he was younger and he's not good at Seoul standard dialect. The Seoul dialect is comparable to the American California accent. Most idols, politicians, and celebrities in Korea use that dialect because it's seen as more professional which is why it's always fun hearing idols slip into their normal speaking voice when they are in a relaxed setting. There are a lot of moments in BTS related content where the contextualized captions will tell us when they're speaking dialect and it's usually when they're joking around. Jimin, Jungkook, and Hobi do it the most but there are times when Yoongi speaks in his dialect, usually when he is drunk or upset about something.

Bea

Omg young jk's voice in the dialect at the end of the outro, "gasinaya narang sagwillae" meaning "hey girl will you date me" Also please start checking out the dance practices, if possible :)

정쿠키🍪

When Jimin, Jungkook, and Yoongi begin to speak with Ma, it is Gyeongsang-do dialect. (Ma=“Hey”), Ji-min and Jung-kook have been using a lot of Run BTS lately.(112-113,120-121)

SNBangtan

The early albums are very rap heavy. The rappers really had a lot of experience coming in and the concept was hip hop, plus the rappers wrote their own bars and part of their thing was "our artists contribute to the work" so they were heavily featured. Now as you can see it's very much reversed and often on titles and in b-sides, the rappers don't get a lot of time (I think Hobi got like 7 seconds and Yoongi got 9 in Dynamite?) so as a fan of their rap, I'd like to see it even out more. But I do love hearing the vocal line more (especially Tae and Jin). We didn't get a lot of them back in the day. We have such a beautiful vocal line who can do so much and vocal tracks are a little more commercial friendly, I think so I get it (and really enjoy it!). But personally, I love their old hip hop sound. Songs like Dis-ease and Respect really kind of harken back to that and I appreciate it so much. haha The next album has even more love songs. It's cute but yeah, different if you're new to that part of their music. Also, you should check out a live of Paldogangsan. There's an OT7 version where they all sing (they fudge a little about their origins but still). haha. The choreo is really fun cause they're like battling. It's like Yoongi and the maknaes v. Hobi, Jin, and RM and then RM breaks them up at the end. It's a lot of fun!

essi

You must have been concentrating so much on the lyrics that you didn't notice that lyric video for paldogangsan was wrong. there is a version with just the rapline, but this one included all the members. please do watch the explained for this song!

nikki

I love how shook you were reading the lyrics to We On. Hahahahahh. This is why when newer armys gets shocked thinking their present diss tracks are so savage, older armys who knows BTS' entire discography are like they're actually getting mellow now with the diss tracks compared to their older albums. HHAHAHAHH. But I love this journey that you're embarking on so much and also you get to collect their albums one by one at the same time. Thank you familia! I hope you're enjoying every bit of the experience! :D

Athena

Please react to DKDKTV's Paldogangsan explained! Also just the confidence these boys had and how they showed it off in their music when they literally came from nothing. The gall on these boys.

Hannah

I really wish you would watch some live performances as well. I would have wanted to see you watch ”Attack on bangtan” live for instance. I know people want to see you read the lyrics, but could you at least watch one live performance?

laura

actually all their early albums are influenced by hip hop music. Rapline takes a huge role, they have always been so invested in producing and writing music for the group, which is extremely difficult. As you can tell now that the rest of the members are older they have all learned how to do it aswell as their knowledge in music grew over time.

L
>>51198034

there are also live performance with eng subs :)

JK

Vocal line is also in Paldogangsan. You should react to its performance. It's really cool and funny. Also the rise of bangtan but not in concert. They're so funny performing that. I hope you'll react to those! Those performances are so funny. 😭 I actually love Paldogangsan and Rise of Bangtan. https://youtu.be/gwgy2MbjWKs https://youtu.be/v26Yg-c2NEY

xenia

omgggnsdknsd seeing yall go back in time like this makes me excited for if yall ever react to like american hustle life n their old bangtan bombs n logs n stuff haha

zaphyre

every time I see this comeback trailer all I can think about is the birthday prank they did on poor baby jungkook that day LOL

zaphyre

The slow motion walk down the white stairs in NO is the same they do in the VCR of ON’s Melon music awards performance, because you know... No flipped becomes On... they’re sooo punny lmao

Catana Mădălina

Familia, what a great reaction, you made my day! I've been an army for almost a year now so it's really fun that I discover their old stuff alongside with you. And Marisol, you are gorgeous and I love your outfit. Also, I love that you are both wearing white, don't know if it was intentional, but it seems like it fit the theme of this album. 😅 Borahae 💜

Lainee Fenton

Uthman's TAN when he realised what song he was singing 😂😂😂 Marisol jamming out to everything. I loved it! PLEASE keep up us up to date on that gym playlist fam 💜

superana___ _

Hi Familia. When you react to Skool Luv affair, please react to the extended version. I was looking at the discography at bighit's website and i couldn't see Miss Right in the list of songs in the album, and i dont want you to miss it. It's one of my most fave bts songs up until today. It is so easy to listen to. I remember they sang it in their epilogue concert, and boy, we were singing along to the whole song. It was such a memorable moment.

Line Henriksen

I love this series! Will you also react to their live performances of these albums? 💜

Dancing Lover

Familia if possible please react to skool luv affair special addition. It has so much more content.

Dancing Lover

Penny D Young

Please follow up some of stage performance of the songs and dance practice. Hope some day you react to their first world tour "RED BULLET TOUR!

DanielleM

Hey guys, since you’re reacting to BTS’s older stuff I recommend checking out this ARMY made documentary series called The Rise of Bangtan on YouTube. It’s so great and besides taking you through BTS’s beginnings, it also gives you some information on the Kpop Industry as well.

Anonymous

Oh yeah Guys please react to the Japanese MV's too, like Lights and Blood and sweat and tears Japanese ver. I really like the BST Japanese version MV, It's really good.

Amy Evans
>>51254977

I've just finished watching the two videos after seeing your comment and wow, what a well made, informative and entertaining pair of videos. I loved how it included information surrounding kpop as a whole, whilst centring it around BTS and their journey. I also loved the pre-debut and early BTS clips it included many of which I hadn't seen or haven't seen in years, So thank you for mentioning this, it was a great watch and, nothing like I have seen before in terms of guides or fan-made docu-series.

DanielleM
>>51254977

Amy, I’m so glad you checked it out! I heard the person or people who made the series have been working on it at least 3 years and you can tell how much hard work, dictation and love they put into it. I’ve been trying to help spread it around because I think more ARMYs need to hear what’s in those videos. I’ve been an ARMY for about a year now, but there is still so much I don’t know or haven’t seen, so when I came across that docu-series I was so happy to learn more. I’m so glad we have ARMYs who take the time to make these amazing videos, translations, fanarts etc.

ratnapramulia

Guys, after reacting the lyric, i think you also need to watch their performance ...

Ronja

I love these album reactions so much!! You might have already seen some of them, but it'd be really fun to see you react to the performances of all these songs as well! Old or new, they're all amazing and puts so much new life to the songs.

Ronja
>>51296235

especially the performances of Rise of Bangtan are sooooo great, there's new ones from the love yourself tour (really recommend watching those) but the older ones are amazing as well!

Holly-Jayne

Guys you didn't look at the photocard!! Who did you get?? 💜 Also did you not recognise the intro at all!? Yoongi used samples from it in Interlude: Shadow! Go back and listen to Shadow and then listen to the intro again and you'll realise that they sound almost exactly the same 😂

Anonymous
>>51320972

yes, I'm wondering too, whose photocard did you get Familia?? please tell us in the next video

bembolbee
>>51254977

Omg i just watched the first episode and my mind is blown in how good it was made! You’re right, They should watch this too! It fits the current journey they are on in discovering the early days of the boys!

bembolbee
>>51254977

Thanks! First episode just 🤯 Going in for the second episode now

Michelle Imogu
>>51296235

I believe they already reacted to the Rise of Bangtan, but they didn't know the song then

Lainee Fenton

I came back watch them make a connection to Rise of Bangtan 😂 my serotonin video for the week

Jenny Choi

paldogangsan is basically impossible to expect a non-Korean speaker to understand so don't worry if it was confusing! it's even hard for Koreans to understand different dialects/slang they're not familiar with, hence the theme of this song. DKDKTV's explanation video for this song is very informative and interesting to learn about the dialects they use https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l48zU1h00jw

Arzuhii

The first clip you’ve reacted to was on JK’s birthday and the others pulled a prank on him making him cry- you should check that out^^
