Script:
A fire is burning. Akakios sits beside it. She is staring, staring.
Arashta: Akakios?
Akakios looks up. Arashta is nearby. There is food in her hands.
Arashta: How come you don’t decorate your horns?
Akakios: Decorate them?
Arashta smiles, a little amused that Akakios repeated her.
Arashta: Yes, decorate them. Mine are tipped. Bulong’s are carved. Jorie paints his. Do you just like them plain?
Akakios reaches up and touches her horns. She looks over at Cryus, who sits perched nearby, watching her.
Akakios: Yeah.
Arashta: You’re a terrible liar, you know that? A sweet face like yours just can’t lie.
Akakios looks down.
Arashta sighs and gets up. She comes over to sit next to Akakios. She looks over at the rest of the camp, then leans in.
Arashta: This is about what you said earlier, isn’t it? About the voices.
Akakios snorts and turns away. Cryus, instantly agitated, squaks, and flies up to Akakios’ horns, feathers puffed, glaring over at Arashta. Arashta shows her hands.
Arashta: Ki--
Akakios: That’s not my name.
Arashta: --using them is just like using your hands. Loving them is just like loving yourself. They’re part of you. They don’t make you a monster.
Akakios doesn’t respond.
Arashta: She won’t eat it until you do, you know.
Cryus squacks, still annoyed.
Akakios looks towards the caravan. It is turned over now. Blood stains the canvas. The two horses lay butchered. She looks down at the food in her hand. It is a roasted human arm.
Akakios stares. She opens her mouth.
Final panel: we pull away to see a host of minotaurs eating around a campfire.
