A small little… poem? I wrote up during my lunch break.
It is foolish to think
I do not want what you offer
The love of a family
Talks unbridled
Laughter and joy
Photos beneath castles
I would tell you of kisses
Of how she held my hand is hers
Of how I promised my life
To a woman with a golden halo
But to have this
I cannot tell you of her
I cannot whisper the things she’s told me
I cannot share the moments beneath the moon
You wish only for chains
For a life of cages
For a me that never lived
That perished and rotted
Deep beneath the earth
Before she drew breath
It is foolish to think I want what you offer
A life of captivity
Of cutting off sections of flesh
And meat
And bone
To fit into a you-shaped hole
That you carved for me
I would not know the taste of happiness
I would not know the touch of joy
I would be desolate from the scent of safety
I would not hear my lover’s call.
It is foolish to think I would stay with you
I have no place within this cult
What I have hidden is now revealed
My legs entwined with hers
I have no place in this prison you built me
No place in this system you call family
I do not belong with you or the others
But I do have a place with her.
