I was really expecting it to be her brother here. I'm noticing a subtle detail. Correct me if I'm wrong. All males 18-64 had to register for the draft. Her dad was 56 according to the tombstone, but during the war generally only men of 18-45 were drafted in practice. Which means her dad probably volunteered.
