“Corvo?” Ruby called out, door cracked open.

No answer came.

Frowning, Ruby stepped fully into Corvo’s room, door closed behind her. She toed her way over the carpet at the center of the room and came up to the edge of his bed, positioned in the far corner, reaching down. Her hand hit nothing but sheets and pillows, Corvo nowhere to be found.

Frown deepening, she dropped herself on the edge of the bed.

They’d been accepted into Beacon. In two weeks, less now, they’d both be attending the school they only ever talked about, two whole years closer to become huntsmen after a single night.

It was supposed to be exciting.

Ruby fell back with a groan, spreading her arms out across his bed.

It was exciting but the problem was that he wasn’t around. They were supposed to be coming up with more plans to make sure they ended up on the same team, practicing their combination attacks, doing last minutes checks on their weapons, then spending the night goofing around and eating snacks.

Mom said he’d be staying out overnight again which meant he was probably with his girlfriend. Which mean they were probably-probably-probably-

Rolling over, Ruby stuffed her head in a rogue pillow, another groan of frustration muffled by it.

She still didn’t know where this girlfriend popped up from but at least the girl wouldn’t be around to get in the way of their time at Beacon.

They were going to be the very best team just like they always said! They’d even have Yang around to join them!

Nobody was going to ruin the Bizarre Adventures of Ruby and Corvo.

XOXO

Corvo blinked, a yawn slipping out as he cracked open his eyes. An unfamiliar room greeted him. Examining it wasn’t nearly as important as figuring out what the strange weight against and around him was.

Oh right. Corvo thought as faint breaths came from above. I guess this is how Neo feels.

One of her arms acting as a pillow for him, the other was wrapped around his waist, her chin resting atop his head. With Neo, when they did lay around, he was used to playing big spoon or his entire body being used as her body pillow. Being small spoon wasn’t so bad though it was a bit distracting.

Both the hard case of morning wood he was sporting and his embarrassment rose as Pyrrha shifted, her soft breasts pressed further against him.

When Neo told him to see if he could stay out overnight, he’d expected it to always end over at her apartment, not like this.

A change in Pyrrha’s faint breathing let him know when she awoke. Rather than saying anything she subtly shifted, the arm around his waist pulling tighter. After he shifted to let her know he was awake too, her arm acting as his pillow eventually folded over, that messing with and running through his hair.

They laid around basking in each other’s warmth as her fingers carried out the goosebump inducing motions.

“This is nice.” Pyrrha said softly.

“Yeah.” It was almost like it was just the two them, the rest of the world beyond the room nonexistent.

Curious as he was about all this, he didn’t mind enjoying it for a bit longer. Conversation could come later.

XOXO

“She really is strange.”

“She certainly doesn’t follow the norm.”

“But I guess neither of us can talk since we’re going along with it.”

A slight laugh from Pyrrha broke the somewhat awkward that’d hung between them after coming out of their respective showers. They sat at a dining room table as fancy as the rest of the furniture in the place, the now partially open blinds of the windows providing a good few of the streets below along with the distant sunrise.

“Yes, I suppose we are.” Pyrrha said as she twisted the cup of water in front of her, the fingers cupped around the glass, running over each other.

“You’re really okay with it?”

“I admit, a relationship like this isn’t one I imagined for myself and I’m still not sure how to feel about it.” Pyrrha said but still managing a small smile. “But I’ve enjoyed the time we’ve spent together.  I’m willing to give it an earnest try if it means more time with you.”

In other words, she was doing it for him. And, according to what Pyrrha told him about their conversation, the same could be said about Neo. Despite debatably being at the center of all this it felt like he was being swept along by someone else’s decisions. Or maybe he was just trying to take the easy way out.

The way Pyrrha made it sound, Neo only set this up because she decided he liked Pyrrha.

“I’ve been enjoying it too.” He said, returning her smile. Neo wasn’t wrong. The way the two of them spent their time together always felt unorthodox, from their fighting, her having to make attempts to hide in public, and already buying groceries for her apartment as if they lived together. What he’d been doing with Pyrrha felt more like how people described traditional dating. They skipped a few dozen steps with last night’s events, but it still stood out as normal compared to all that stuff with Neo.

Two girlfriends.

Both Beautiful.

And both way stronger than anyone in his class back at Signal.

It sounded fun.

XOXO

Red blurred past him.

It spun around only to shoot past him once more.

As it came for a third dive, Corvo stepped forward and swung his axe, the blade clashing against Ruby’s scythe as she reformed, sending her back. Cresent Rose’s trigger pulled, she fired several rounds, pushing herself further back with the recoil. He took them head on, axe used to block the shots as he closed the distance between them and raised his other hand.

Before her feet touched the touch she began to break apart into roses again as a snap filled the air.

Time stopped. Ruby, moving quicker than most but still within his range, had already changed half her body into those retreating roses.

Axe put away, he rushed past her, jumping in the direction she’d been headed as he released his hold on his semblance early, the aura he would’ve wasted saved. Ruby crashed into him, reforming as the both of them hit the ground. She tried to kick off of him, but he managed to completely disarm her by the time they hit the ground, Cresent Rose hitting the dirt.

“And that’s my win.” Corvo said as he let her wrists go.

Disarming or lowering the other’s aura were the two rules Mom made them follow.

“Stupid rules.” She grumbled as she retrieved her scythe, spinning it about to take aim at him. “This time I’m winning.”

“Going for the win is great and all, but don’t forget that this practice is so you can learn to use your semblaces for as long as possible.” Their mom told them, watching from below the lone tree in the backyard. “Ruby, you know how your brother’s semblance works, you can’t rely completely on your reaction time against it. Try and plan around how you think he’s going to use it to stop you, or you’ll just end up being forced out of your semblance every time.”

“Yes ma’am.” Ruby called out as they readied themselves for another round.

He enjoyed training with Ruby, he really did. Her semblance was no hard counter to his, but she was one of the fastest when caught within it and could escape its range more consistently than anyone else. Or just avoid ever being within that range to begin with.

With their semblances, they were on the same level, the result of their fights usually decided by approach and the kind of rules they were following.

Without them, he beat her more often than not.

Either way, it was always fun to try to fight with her.

Even so, at the back of his mind, he couldn’t help but think about fighting Neo or Pyrrha.

XOXO

(A/N: Alright, that's what I got. Again, don't take this all too seriously since I'm playing fast and loose with stuff. I'll update when I update., hopefully at least once a week.)
