RWBY Silver Eyed Warrior Chapter 16: To Beacon (Patreon)

“Look at all of you. I can’t believe all three of you are going to be fully licensed huntsmen in just a few years.” Summer said, holding her children in a tight hug. “Make sure you all be good.”
“Be good? We’re not going to day care.”
“You especially, Yang. Don’t give Glynda too much trouble.”
Giving Yang a pointed look, Summer stepped back, letting all of them go.
Yang adjusted her dark brown jacket and dark orange scarf, pulling the pair of shaded aviators hanging from the yellow crop top below to place over her eyes. Ruby, grinning, didn’t waste anytime rushing over to Yang’s yellow flame patterned motorcycle, waving and calling for them to hurry up. Corvo fixed his belt, cloak, and made sure his axe was secure before smiling.
“Bye mom. We’ll visit of the weekends.” He said.
“You better.” Summer said. “Now, even if you’ll be surrounded by plenty of young huntresses in making, you’ll need to make sure not to fall for any of their temptations. You went and got yourself a girl-“
“Mom come on.”
“I’m being serious here. Either break things off with that Neo girl if you want to explore your options or stay loyal, young man. I didn’t raise you to go around breaking hearts.”
“Mommmm-“
“Don’t worry, mom.” Yang caught Corvo’s neck with an arm, dragging him over to her, ruffling up his hair with her other hand. “Shorty here wouldn’t know a girl was flirting him unless they smack him over the head.”
“Who are you calling short? You’re barely any taller than me.” Corvo retorted, struggling to pry off the grip.
“Barely still counts.” Yang said, turning and forcing him to stumble along her. “Later, mom!”
Summer smile as she watched the three, Corvo getting into the side car while Yang and Ruby got onto the actual bike. Revving up the engine, Yang gave her one final salute while the other two waved before speeding out of the driveway and neighborhood far too quickly for her liking.
And just like that she was left alone at an empty house.
Ruby and Corvo getting moved ahead two years early hadn’t been a part of her plan, but she didn’t really mind. She knew what Ozpin wanted from them but also knew the man was too caring to truly draw them into anything while they were in the middle of enjoying their school life, no small amount of special treatment about to find to their way to whatever team or teams they ended up on.
Either way, it just sped up her timetable.
Summer turned, heading back into the house.
After all these years she was far too rusty to jump right back into work alongside Qrow, nor did she want to be that far from her kids, but she wasn’t going to sit around here. Luckily, she’d already made some arrangements to get herself back into the swing of things.
And maybe, if things called for it, start introducing Ruby and Corvo to what their eyes were capable of.
XOXO
Hand around his wrist, Ruby was quick to try to lead them out of the elevator crowded as its doors slid open but got nowhere, the both of them having to shuffle their way alongside Yang and everyone to leave it.
Vale’s Central Transport Center, the CTC, as most liked to call it, was always a busy place given that every train, bus, and or airship that traveled anywhere in the city passed through it at some point. The underground also acted as a massive parking garage, Yang having parked her motorcycle down there, Mom probably agreeing to pick it up later with the extra key she had for it.
There’s no way Yang was going to leave that thing in some random parking spot for more than a day if she could help it.
As they finally stepped out beyond the elevator, Corvo immediately began scanning the large room they were in. The elevator they rode had been one of the most secure ones, security checks requiring their IDs as huntsmen in training before they were allowed up, and that went for everyone across the floor.
Weapons. Whether it was hidden or on full display, everyone here was carrying a weapon of some kind. Guns, massive and small, most with clear ability to change their forms. Closer ranged weapons with dust crystal imbedded someone along them or other dust related functions hung from different parts of people. One guy had a-
Corvo focused. He could examine all those weapons later. Right now he was looking for-
“Pyrrha Nikos? You’re serious?”
“Yeah, look man, she’s coming this way.”
There were dozens of more whispers around them all focused on the same familiar name. Had Pyrrha ever told him her full name? Either way, he paid it no mind, his eyes finally landing on the person he was looking for.
Long vibrant red hair pulled into a ponytail that swayed with her steps alongside the matching red sash around her waist. Golden-bronze armoring that firmly separated her from most, few if any bothering with any metallic protection. And her weapons, one a shield and the other a longer pointed weapon, were hidden behind her back.
Now that shield nagged at his mind, but Corvo ignored it, pulling the eager Ruby to a stop as Pyrrha approached them.
“Hey, Pyr-“
“Whoa!” Ruby cut him off, the hold she had on his wrist abandoned as she sped in front of Pyrrha. “You’re Pyrrha Nikos! Are you going to Beacon too? What’s your armor made out of? Are your weapons made of the same thing? Can I-“
“Cool it, girl.” Yang pulled Ruby back by her hood before bumping her shoulder to his. “Are we in your way or-“
“No, no, it’s nothing like that.” Pyrrha said, a polite smile in place. “I actually came over here for Corvo.”
“Hey, Pyrrha.” Corvo finally managed to get out. “These are my sisters, Yang and Ruby.”
Pyrrha nodded, most of her attention going from him to them. “It’s nice to meet both of you.”
“Likewise.” Yang said. “So how exactly do the two of you know each other?”
“We bumped into each other. Literally.” Corvo said. He hadn’t really been considering how to tell any part of his family the weird situation he found himself but leaving it unsaid, especially if they were all going to be at the same place every day was just asking for misunderstandings. “One thing led to another and we’re-“ He looked to Pyrrha who only smiled. Safe to assume she didn’t have problem with them knowing about their relationship either. “-dating.”
“What? But-“
“Is that right?” Yang forced Ruby’s hood over her head, shutting her up. “Ruby, hang out with Pyrrha here for a bit. I’m going to go have a talk with our brother.”
And just like that he found himself being dragged off by Yang, able to nothing other than wave to Pyrrha. The way of everyone was reacting, eyes on her from every part of the room, he was pretty sure he should’ve known who she was all this time.
XOXO
The same red hair so dark it appeared black at its roots. The same expressive silver eyes. The same general face shape.
“Corvo mentioned having sisters, but he was never specific about it. Are the two of you twins?” Pyrrha asked, unable to hold back her growing curiosity. It was so odd standing next to someone that she could easily mistake for him at the corner of her eye only to be faced with someone who definitely wasn’t him.
“Yeah.” The shorter girl, Ruby exclaimed, before quickly lowering her tone, caught off guard. “Well, we’re not identical twins, obviously, but we might as well be, right?” Once again matching him, her unsure embarrassment turned an innocently earnest cheer that few in their age range could ever be bothered to show even if something did make them feel that way. “We’re going to make the best team ever. Oh, I guess you’ll be on it too. Not that I’m saying you have to or anything. I’m not saying that I don’t want you on it either. I mean, who wouldn’t want you on their team but, are you two really dating? I thought…”
Between the look the blonde, Yang, had given Corvo before dragging him off, and how unsure Ruby was, Pyrrha had a pretty good guess what was on their mind. While she’d decided she would leave how public their relationship was to Corvo, rather than forcing herself to care what others would have to say like she usually did, the whole thing with Neo was fit for more of a private conversation.
And with all the looks being sent her way, people already whispering about her and Corvo, this was no place for a private conversation. She should switch the conversation to something else that was on her mind.
“I’m curious, how do you know about me?”
“The Mistral Regional Tournament. We, Yang, and our mom, watch it every year.”
“Interesting. Given how much he enjoys fighting I would’ve assumed Corvo would watch it too.”
“I know right?” Ruby agreed with her. “It’s a family thing so he’s with us but he’s usually playing games on his scroll or reading comics after he gets a look at all the weapons.”
How odd. Maybe it was actually his love for fighting that actually made him pay so little attention. She was always prepared to learn from the fights of others but outside of that she couldn’t say she bothered to watch fights either unless she was in a very specific mood or couldn’t go train herself.
As distant engines grew louder, airships beginning to land on the pads and people begin to form crowds heading towards them, Yang turned a corner, grinning as she ruffled up the hair of a red faced Corvo.
Knowing how bad he was at lying, it was safe to assume Yang was now in the know about things.
Meeting his family was going to be a strange experience all around, wasn’t it?
XOXO
(A/N: Onward to Beacon! Might be the longest stretch we go without some smut but we'll see how things pan out.)
