“Its way lighter than it looks.”

“Really? Here, let me see.”

For the first time in a long time, Pyrrha found herself smiling over something her fame brought.

Once people figured out who she was it was always the same. Stares from a distance. Whispers that could be loud enough to reach her at times. People clamoring for autographs or asking questions about the tournaments she’d fought in. And, from those bolder than most, unwanted attempts at flirting.

Her equipment in hand, Corvo traded Milo, her spear, over to Ruby for Akouo, her shield. The two were so lost in guessing details and testing the feel of the weapons that they’d completely forgotten the looks they were getting from all the other students on the airship, more than a few whispering about how they must’ve been acquainted.

“You’re going to have to get used to that.” Yang, arms crossed and standing beside her, said, smiling as she watched the two as well. “As soon as they’re done with yours, they’ll be nerding out over every weapon they see.”

“I don’t mind it.” Pyrrha said, rather enjoying the nice change of pace. This whole time she’d been worried about nothing, Corvo quickly brushing past all her appearances on TV just to focus on her weapon. Some part of her couldn’t help but doubt, assuming the differences in how he treated her wouldn’t show up until they trained together, but she knew better. Between their many dates over the past two weeks, hand to hand practice matches was just one of many things they did. With her not pulling her punches anymore, all ended far faster than the first.

And Corvo always bounced back, eagerness never dampened by any of what she was used to being faced with.

Still that part of her mind refused to stay quiet.

“So, Corvo huh?” Yang asked, looking her way curiously. “How exactly did you manage to get someone as dense as him to go out on a date with you?”

“Well-“ Pyrrha raised a finger, scratching her cheek. Maybe he didn’t count it as one, but she liked to count that first day they spent together as a date. “-he agreed to show me around Vale when I first arrived. I may have used that as an excuse for us to shop around a mall then see a movie.”

Yang snickered leaning in closer. “Taking advantage of the density. I respect the game.” She whispered, the only other one in their group completely aware of all the attention on them.

“When you say it like it like that it feels like I did something wrong.” Pyrrha muttered. Sure, she hadn’t exactly done her due diligence at the time to make sure he wasn’t already taken but its not like they crossed any lines. Thoughts didn’t count.

“Ah, don’t think too hard about it.” Yang said, leaning back and waving her off as the airship shook, just beginning to settle. “I just hope you’re ready to deal with these two on your own for awhile.”

“Oh? Are you not planning on sticking around?”

“I did have my own plans before these two decided to jump ahead.” Yang said, glancing towards the airship’s opening doors. She planted her hands on both Ruby’s and Corvo’s heads. “Alright you two, remember what mom said about being good. And most importantly make sure to have fun. I’m going to meet up with my friends.”

“W-Wait Yang!” Ruby called out, reaching out after Yang who had already sped walked her way into the crowd descending the airship’s ramp. “I thought we were all going to be on the same team.” She muttered as her arm dropped. She spun around, looking up at Corvo. “We’re still going to be on a team, right?” Ruby asked, eyes flicking towards her.

Pyrrha actually felt a little bad. Initial excitement aside, her suddenly popping up probably had Ruby worried about something that big. She’d always wondered what it was like to have siblings and plenty of what she read on the subject pointed out twins being a lot more attached to one another compared to others.

“Of course, what kind of question is that?” Corvo tilted his head. “I thought that was the plan this whole time?”

“Yeah! Obviously.” Ruby quickly agreed smiling up at him, her prior excitement returning. “With Pyrrha too, right?”

Pyrrha smiled down at her, nodding. There was still some of that awe in her eyes, but this was far from the worst she had to deal with. Hopefully it wore off; she’d like to get to know his sisters without that whole thing getting in the way.

Maybe it wouldn’t even be a problem after their entrance ceremony. She doubted it but she could hope.

“I look amongst you and all I see is wasted energy.”

Corvo stood up to his full height, as the piercing gaze sweeping through the entire auditorium settled in his area of the crowd. He’d met headmaster Ozpin face to face after the police took him into custody two weeks ago, but it’d been different compared to this. Up on the stage overseeing the entire crowd within the darkened room, with his cane in hand and a mic in front of him, Ozpin actually cut a more looming figure compared to the relaxed man he spoke with beforehand.

“Is it just me or does it feel like he’s staring at us?” Ruby whispered.

“Yeah, I was going to ask the same thing.” He whispered back, the headmaster’s gaze moving on from them, as he continued his speech. “I guess he just wanted to make sure we were here?”

“Yeah, that makes sense.” The both of them were invited personally by the man, after all.

He kind of expected some up lifting words about them doing heroic stuff and being closer to becoming huntsmen and huntresses but the way Ozpin was talking, it sounded more like he was warning them that Beacon wasn’t some magical stop that would change everything despite what it represented across Remnant.

When Ozpin finally stepped back from the microphone, Glynda, who’d been a step behind him, took his place.

“Tomorrow morning your initiation will be held. For now, you have free reign to familiarize yourselves with a majority of the campus’ facilities.” Glynda announced, looking them over. Just like Ozpin, her gaze did stop on them, he and Ruby quick to give her a wave. That was ignored. Mom always said she favored professionalism, never showing any kind of favoritism when on the job.

“The temporary dorm rooms will be where you spend the night. Lunch and dinner will also be served in the cafeteria. Please refer to one of the many maps across the campus or seek out a member of the staff if you are struggling to find either. Specific rooms will be assigned to you when you arrive at the building. You are dismissed.”

As she stepped back from the microphone, moving along with Ozpin to head backstage, the entire auditorium erupted into loud conversation.

“You thinking what I’m thinking?” Corvo asked, turning to Ruby.

“We find wherever they build their weapons and see if we can use it.” Ruby said, nodding rapidly. She turned, grinning up at Pyrrha who’d been standing just behind us. “Oh, Pyrrha, can we look at your weapon? Pretty please? I promise we’ll put it back together.”

Pyrrha smiled apologetically. “While I’m not against you looking it over, I don’t believe having my weapon taken apart right before whatever this initiation may be is a good idea.”

“Ah, right.” Ruby deflated but instantly pepped back up. “Come on, lets go.”

Ruby rushed ahead, semblance used to speed right over the crowd of everyone else shuffling towards the different exits of the auditorium. Grabbing Pyrrha’s hand, he followed after Ruby, best done to get around all the people. It would’ve been great if Yang was with them, but they had an entire academy to get to exploring.

XOXO

Pyrrha found out quickly why it was Yang phrased things the way she did.

Taking a bite into her apple, she watched Corvo and Ruby gush over everything they’d seen so far, neither paying any attention to the trays of food in front of them. Everything was no exaggeration either. They started with Beacon’s smithy and other weapon related facilities before jumping from building to building, figuring out where everything was by seeing it all themselves rather than relying on the maps they passed by. They often tried to include her, but they usually got lost in conversation about stories they heard from their mother and uncle based on what they said.

Corvo had brought up the fact his mother was a huntress over the past two weeks, but, by the sounds of it, plenty of the adults around them must’ve attended Beacon at some point.

Rather than inputting herself between them Pyrrha was just happy to be among people who didn’t make her the center of attention. Ruby might be something of a fan, but it wasn’t some horrible level of worship that changed how she acted the entire time she was around.

“Excuse me.” All three of them turned their attention across their table.

The entire cafeteria, a large spacious room with countless tables pushed together to form columns with food being served from its very back, wasn’t full, scattered groups of people taking breaks from exploring the Campus to eat. Some looked her way, but none had approached until now.

“It’s a pleasure to meet the Pyrrha Nikos.” Long white hair pulled into a perfect but off center ponytail. Light blue eyes, a single scar traveling over the pale skin of the left. Pyrrha recognized the young woman holding out a hand for her in an instant, her pristine white-blue outfit a perfect match for the prestige that came with her name. “I hope that a quick conversation isn’t too much of a bother?”

“No, its fine.” Pyrrha said, returning her polite smile and shaking the offered hand, the skin there much smoother than her own. “It’s nice to meet you as well, miss Schnee. And just Pyrrha is fine.”

“Then you can just call me Weiss as well.” She said as their short handshake ended, taking a seat on the table’s opposite bench. She briefly looked Corvo and Ruby over, the passing interest gone in seconds. “I wanted to ask if you already had plans involving the formation of teams.”

It’d only been a matter of time before this happened. While most wouldn’t approach her there were always those bold enough to do the opposite.

“If not, I propose that we make a team of our own.” Weiss suggested. “Your skill goes without question and I’m confident that my abilities would compliment them. Together I’m sure we’ll make the best team in our year.”

Usually, those people were looking to get something out of her and Weiss was no exception. But it all struck Pyrrha as genuine, she truly believing what she was saying. Had she not met Corvo she might’ve agreed or politely acknowledged the possibility without outright committing to it in hopes she could still find someone who didn’t actually know about her reputation.

But she didn’t need to do anything like that now.

“I’m actually planning on teaming up with my boyfriend and his sister.” Pyrrha said, smiling as she gestured towards the two. It was a little embarrassing to introduce someone like that but felt way better than she’d expected. “But if they’re okay with it, our team does need a fourth.”

Ruby had been a bit more crestfallen by it than Corvo, but Yang did pretty much tell them when they crossed paths again that she was planning to be on a team with a group of friends which meant their team was incomplete. Maybe Weiss could round it out?

“Boyfriend?” Weiss’ surprise was turned on the twins. The two gave her small unsure waves while one of her thin brows rose as she looked them over. It lacked the same composed eagerness when it came to greeting her, but Weiss did give them a nod. “I assume you two don’t have a problem with me joining?”

Or maybe not. That was rather passive aggressive. Normally it took far more than that to annoy Pyrrha but seeing it directed at Corvo quickly soured her mood.

“I guess not?” Ruby and Corvo said after looking at each other. Weiss was far from impressed with the answer but didn’t follow up on it, interest in the two lost again and conversation with her restarted.

Maybe she was being a little too sensitive towards the way Corvo was brushed off but hopefully she hadn’t made a mistake by being polite.

XOXO

Shooting one last message to Neo, Corvo closed his scroll, dropping it onto a small dresser.

He, like all the other soon to be first years, had been assigned a room in one of the dorms apparently meant for teams under four members or students who might be solo for a number of reasons.  A bed, dresser, curtained windowed, small sofa and a desk in the corner. It was nothing too spacious, just enough room given for some additions but much smaller than the actual dorms he’d heard about, only a bathroom tucked away in its corner.

They’d seen a whole lot of places Mom and Qrow had mentioned to them and someone even ending up rounding out their team.

Weiss Schnee. The Schnee part sounded pretty familiar, but he couldn’t really tell if he was right. Then again, Pyrrha had known who she was immediately. She had to be someone with some fame.

He dropped onto the edge of the bed, yawning and falling back as he stretched out, his clothes changed out for a plain shirt and boxer shorts.

Corvo figured he would’ve been too excited to sleep now that he was finally at Beacon, but he was actually feeling a little tired after all that walking around.

It probably had less to do with that and the fact he and Neo had spent a literal day all across her apartment just having sex. He figured he was a little unnatural with how hard it was for him to end up fully drained by all that, but Neo was obviously right there with him.

He’d really said it.

That he loved her.

He’d thought he’d might be saying something like that way too soon but after realizing how he’d be going from seeing her every day to probably just the weekends, it just kind of forced itself out before he’d given it any thought.

Out of the possible reasons he was drawn to her, that was the one that sounded right to him.

Luckily, she’d been happy about it, saying it back in her own way.

He closed his eyes.

Knocks hit his door.

With a groan he forced himself up and headed over, opening it up. Red petals burst past into his room, Pyrrha left the only one standing in the doorway, smiling shyly.

Sleep would have to wait.

(A/N: Fair warning, by popular demand a certain plotline involving something that rhymes with incense has been locked in but there are certain site rules I've got to adhere to. So keep in mind that while the plotline will still be here, you will encounter censorship for any explicit scenes between the MC and anyone related to him which is quickly approaching in next few chapters. We'll be starting with good old Ruby.

Webnovel will definitely be the place to read it if those are the scenes you're after. I'll make it part of my routine to let you know whenever one of those censored scenes finally hit webnovel so you can check it out there. Sorry for the inconvenience.

That aside, hope you're all staying safe.)
