RWBY Silver Eyed Warrior Chapter 22: Their Teams (Patreon)

“Whoa, it’s just like mom said.” Ruby said as they stepped into what would be their dorm room for the next four years. Corvo moved right alongside her, the two of them quickly exploring it in its entirety.
Nice wooden floors that didn’t so much as creak as they walked over it filled the majority of the room. Four different beds, all decently sized with red sheets and pillows already set up on them, were pressed against the wall opposite to the room’s entrance, a single wide window at the center of them.
The left side of the room, maybe a quarter of it, was separated by a partial wall. Beyond that wall the wooden flooring was replaced by black and white tiling that ran between counters, a sink, fridge, and all the other stuff that should be in a kitchen. It wasn’t a lot of space to work with, at best two people able to move around the compact kitchen area comfortably, but it was awesome that their room came with one.
And, behind the door beside the fridge was the bathroom, with pure white tiling and actually pretty big, coming equipped with a washer and drier in one of its corners.
“It really does have everything.” Corvo said as he and Ruby stepped out of the bathroom, Weiss and Blake still in the main room looking around.
“Alright, team!” Ruby said loudly, grinning. “I guess the first thing we should is picking who gets which bed.”
Blake silently took the bed opposite to the kitchen and tucked into its own corner.
“I’m not going to be stuck between the two of you.” Weiss said, quickly taking the bed in the other corner. That left the middle beds for them.
“Alright!” Ruby said, quick to sit herself on the edge of the bed beside Weiss’. “I guess now we should, uh-“
“Obviously we should start by laying down ground rules. Especially for him.” Weiss took the lead from Ruby, a sharp look sent straight up at him.
“Me?” Corvo questioned, pointing at himself. What exactly did he do that made her so forceful about trying to apply rules to him?
“Yes, you. You may be skilled enough to be a student here but that doesn’t change the fact that you’re still just a child. Taking your height into account, one that likely hasn’t even finished going through puberty.”
“That’s-“
“With your sister here, you should know better than to try anything, but I want to be sure we understand each other. You better not get any ideas about coming near my bed or going through my belongings.”
“Seriously, what kind of-“
“And if you so much as think about peeping on me while I’m in the washroom, I’ll report you to the headmaster myself, understand?” Again, she flat cut him off, staring even harder at him as if daring him to go against anything she just said.
“Yes ma’am.” Corvo muttered sarcastically, annoyance already sprinting clean of ahead of embarrassment after all that. She really was treating him like he was some kind of kid who couldn’t control himself.
“Good. I expect you to adhere to those rules at all times.” Weiss said, either ignoring or not picking up on his sarcasm.
“As if I’d ever peep on you anyways.” He muttered even more quietly as he dropped himself on the bed between Blake and Ruby.
“What was that?”
“Nothing.” Corvo said, deciding to just avoid an argument. Tonight marked Ruby’s first night as team leader after all. Plus, they were all official Beacon students. He wasn’t going to let Weiss and her attitude ruin that. Blake, getting comfortable on her bed, gave him a small sympathetic smile, probably thinking the same thing he was.
Sharing the room with Weiss for four years was going to be so annoying.
“Come on, Weiss. Corvo would never do anything like that.” Ruby said, taking it upon herself to defend him.
“Maybe not to you.” Weiss retorted. “A beautiful young woman such as myself is another matter altogether. He’s probably never even gotten the chance to sleep this close to one before.”
Corvo stifled a laugh. While she wasn’t strictly wrong about the description, Weiss without a doubt the kind he was sure would’ve been considered one of the best looking around back in Signal, who talked about themselves like that so seriously? He locked eyes with Blake who quirked a brow, her amused smile only making things worse. He was thankful he wasn’t facing Weiss, closing his eyes and fighting off both his smile and a laugh.
“Actually, he-“ A knock to the door cut off whatever Ruby was about to say. Thankfully. After what they definitely didn’t do, he was pretty sure she wasn’t going to bring up their sleeping habits to anyone, but it sounded like she was about to bring up something private to defend him.
Ruby forgot all about the conversation, quickly opening the door, A few words later and a pile of mix matched luggage now sat at the center of their room.
“I guess our first mission is getting everything organized!” Ruby declared before looking around then back down at all the stuff. “If we have enough space?”
XOXO
Corvo rose with a quiet groan that turned into a muted yawn, looking around. It took several confused blinks before he realized the darkened room was his new shared dorm room. Dropping back down into the comforting softness of his bed, plain black and red body pillow pulled closer, he yawned as he closed his eyes.
It was still dark which meant he had time for a bit more slee-
Vrrm.
His scroll, laid beside his head, began to quietly vibrate, a silent alarm going off. Corvo held back a groan. There was nothing worse than thinking he had extra sleep to enjoy only to find out he woke up literally moments before he was supposed to get up. It made him question why he set the thing up.
Head stuffed into the side of his pillow, he blindly dismissed the alarm before rising up, legs thrown over the edge of his bed. Movement came from the corner of his eye as he stretched, Corvo looking up.
He wasn’t the only one awake, Blake sitting on the edge of her bed.
While the room technically did have enough space for everyone’s things, they realized the other night that things would end up being far too cramped with no space to walk around once things were set up. Using a variety of things from books and cloth, they turned their four beds into two sets of bunk beds.
He and Blake were off in one corner while Ruby and Weiss were in the other, Ruby the one in the top bunk for them.
“Sorry if my alarm woke you up.” Corvo apologized through a yawn.
“It’s fine.” Surprisingly silent, she dropped from her bed and headed towards the bathroom, not a sound made the whole way. If that’s how she got around on the daily it made sense that she could sneak up on Grimm so easily.
Her pajamas were a little odd though, some kind of fancy looking dark clothing that was kept in place by the white ribbon tied around her waist. Were they robes? The slit along the side where her thigh started instantly drew his eyes towards her uncovered legs before eventually coming up to her backside. Even outside of those shorts and stockings she-
Corvo pinched his own nose, leaning back. He’d set that alarm for a reason, now was not the time to be getting distracted. And he definitely couldn’t prove Weiss of all people right.
He stood, searched through his half of the dresser he and Blake had placed beside their beds, a plain black shirt and the jacket of a tracksuit thrown on alongside the sweatpants he was already wearing before he headed for the door, a yawn slipping out as he slipped on his shoes.
“Morning, Pyrrha.” He said, smiling as he stepped outside the room, most of his grogginess fading away.
“Good morning.” Pyrrha, just across the hall and leaning beside the door to her dorm, pushed off the wall, returning the smile. Like him she wore a plain tracksuit that was red in color and sneakers, her jacket fully zipped up “Are you sure you don’t mind getting up this early? Initiation sounded like it was far more exhausting for you all.”
“Its all good, I really didn’t get to fight as much as I wanted anyways.” Corvo admitted. All the trouble Weiss gave them aside, the fights weren’t really as much fun when there were so many other people fighting alongside him. “But I guess that’s part of being on team. Things just aren’t as challenging with help.”
“I’m sure Beacon itself will be a challenge in the long run.” Pyrrha said, leading the way down the quiet halls.
Once they got outside Pyrrha got them started with some light stretches outside their dorm’s building, Beacon’s wide spanning campus cool and quiet this early in the morning.
“Weiss didn’t give you and Ruby any trouble, did she?” Pyrrha asked, one leg brought up behind her by the opposite arm.
“Pretty sure she’s going to.” Weiss hadn’t said anything, but he started noticing that every time Ruby referred to them as a team or said anything that had to do with the fact that she’d ended up their leader, Weiss looked more and more annoyed. “I guess having a child as her leader isn’t part of how she wanted to spend her time at Beacon.”
“I’m sure things will get better with time.”
“Hopefully.” Corvo said, raising one of his knees in front of him and balancing on one leg. “What’s it like to be team captain, anyway?”
“I think I’ll need to actually get a few days as one under my belt before I can answer that question. I can say there is a certain pressure that just comes with the title however.” Pyrrha admitted. “But I’m not worried. Your sister is nice and easy to work with and my other two teammates certainly make for a unique pair but don’t seem like they’ll be difficult to get along with.”
A pressure? She must mean the responsibility. He’d have to do his best to make sure Ruby wasn’t overwhelmed by something like that. As for Ren and Nora, her other two teammates, he’d only seen them briefly at the ceremony after initiation. One was a quiet dark haired boy and the other an orange haired girl that’d been the loudest on the stage when they were declared a team. Definitely an odd match up.
Done stretching they started a light jog, still talking. Those conversations stopped when Pyrrha hit points she wanted them to sprint before picking back up as they settled back into a jog. That back and forth between the two types of runs carried on for a long time, the exercise obviously part of her usual routine. While he couldn’t quite match her full sprint, he did keep pace with her in terms of endurance.
When they stopped to take a break, sitting on one of many benches spread across the stone paved walkways, he shifted over, laying his head on her lap. Pyrrha smiled down at him, one hand coming up to undo some of the tangles in the case of bedhead he hadn’t bothered to mess with.
Then she began leaning down.
“I kind of didn’t get a chance to go in the bathroom so be prepared for morning breath.”
She ignored his warning, a soft kiss pressed to his lips. “Maybe we should wait until you brush your teeth.” She said after pulling away. That didn’t stop her from a few more of the light pecks.
“Ahem.” They separated, looking in front of them.
Cane in hand and dark glasses on the bridge of his nose, the headmaster himself stood in front of the bench they were taking their break on.
“Headmaster Ozpin.” Corvo said, sitting up straight beside Pyrrha who also straightened up. “Good morning?”
“Good morning, mister Rose, miss Nikos.” He said, nodding to them. “I trust you aren’t overexerting yourselves so early in the year. Not many would choose to exercise so soon after initiation.”
“No way. Initiation was way too easy for that.” Corvo said.
“Is that so? Do you feel the same, miss Nikos?”
“Well, I must admit that it was simpler than expected but I suspect in my case luck had a lot to do with it. My partner and I didn’t encounter much more than beowolves.”
“Luck is much more than happenstance. It means being prepared to take advantage of unexpected opportunities. In that sense it is just another skill all huntsmen and huntresses should endeavor to sharpen, not use to downplay their achievements.” The headmaster offered them a nod. “I do hope you enjoy your first official day here.”
With that bit of parting advice, he took off going back to whatever brought him here in the first place.
“Luck is much more than happenstance.” Corvo repeated. “So cool. The headmaster is awesome.”
“He must be. Not many huntsmen reach his age.” Pyrrha said as she stood. “I wanted to go longer but maybe we should listen to him and cut this short?”
“Want to race back then?” Corvo suggested, standing up. Pyrrha gave him a smile already shifting into a more prepared stance.
It was a shame they didn’t end up on the same team but its not like they still wouldn’t be seeing plenty of reach other.
XOXO
(A/N: I could've done more initiation stuff but I'm not going to lie, when things too closely trend the same area as canon I absolutely lose all motivation to write because I find that boring. This still works as a way to cement who's teammates with who, the leaders of said team, as well as a more direct introduction of Ozpin and Corvo's limited perspective on him.
I generally plan for his whole team to be a part of the harem but beyond on that I don't have any real vision for the limits and or extra included in it.)
