Katsuya Akaguro.

That was my name. My new name anyways. Or had it always been my name?

“Well?” The teacher, at the front of the room, questioned, her stern stare focused entirely on me.

“69.” I answered numbly, after a glance at what they were pointing to on the board.

“Very good. Now-“

I tuned her out, looking back down at, apparently, my desk.

My hands were a bit smaller and a few shades off from what I was used to. Everything about me was different. My hair, short cut, was a dark black and, based off the reflection of the metal parts of my desk, my eyes weren’t too far off from that dark shade, crossing over into an unnatural shade of red. I’d need to get a proper look at myself in a real mirror but I’m pretty sure my entire face shape was pretty different.

Getting off of work. Posting a chapter. Checking out that Chaos Gacha System.

The shaking.

I recalled that and everything I’d been doing before ending up wherever I was in crystal clear detail and yet there was another set of memories just as clearing challenging the validity of all of it.

I hadn’t just got back home. I’d been spending the last few hours in class like every other student my age.

What the fuck was going on?

I jolted in my seat, a dark bluish-black screen, like one straight out of game, opening up before my very eyes.

[Whether good or bad, through a stroke of luck you have been chosen by the Chaos Gacha System. As the user already happened to making selections, the preparation phase has been streamlined and your choices have been adapted as the basis for the experience. Good luck.]

I blinked, reading through the words it displayed over and over.

No, no, no. There was no fucking way this was happening. This was a dream.

The cool air of the classroom begged to differ. The feeling of my cold shaking hands pressing down onto my desk begged to differ. The sheer detail around the room, no glasses needed to see anything far away, all begged to differ.

I’d had vivid dreams. Even a handful of trippy lucid ones. None of them felt like this.

Hands placed over my face, I leaned back in my chair, taking a deep breath as I stared into my palms. After a moment I pulled them down to my cheeks. The ceiling remained that of this classroom rather changing back to my apartment.

Transmigration. That was the word for this. Maybe? It was difficult to say, either set of memories both feeling no different than normal, both at odds with each other.

And what did that damn window mean by preselection and streamlined?

A collection of game like windows popped up between my eyes and the ceiling.

“This is bullshit!”

Had I fucking known this shit would suddenly be changed into reality and I wasn’t just planning on writing some god damn book where I could do whatever, I wouldn’t have made such a massive mistake.

If I was in the My Hero world, and based off all these memories I had challenging each other, I definitely was, I wouldn’t have done that fucking reroll! Or at least I would’ve cheated for myself and got a way more overpowered ability.

Enflame? I could set shit on fire, whoopdy fucking do. What was that shit going to do for me if, god forbid, Shigaraki got one of his nasty dry ass hands on me? Fuck all. As for the Mysterious Stranger trait, it could be useful just like Enflame, but again, what was a god damn six shooter going to against All For One? Jack Shit.

If I got wrapped up in any of the main plot line like this, I might as well be signing my own death warrant.

“Mister Akaguro!” The windows closed in on themselves as I looked down. The teacher and all the other students, my fellow classmates, were looking at me.

Shit. I said something out loud, didn’t I?

“Sorry?”

XOXO

“Katsu.” Up ahead, Aunt Nozomi, glanced up into the rear view mirror as we came to a stop at a red light, worry spread across her face. “I know things aren’t easy for you, but that’s no reason to be so foul mouthed. Or to interrupt your teacher like that.”

“I’m sorry.” I muttered, looking back out the window. From the corner of mine I could see her eyes lingering on me for a bit before she refocused on the road, whatever lecture she had in store for me delayed for when we arrived home. Convenient for me. It would give me a chance to do away with all my assumptions and getting my bearings.

Katsuya Akaguro; son of the vigilante, probably already, Hero Killer Stain. I didn’t really remember the vigilante name he went by before the whole main plot but that wasn’t really the main take away.

I had memories of him. Plenty.  Nothing had been directly said in front of me over the years but recalling the past few years made it pretty obvious to me that my birth mother either ran off or died in childbirth, my dear old killer of dad raising me with the constant help of his sister. Though at this point she might as well be my official guardian, whatever radicalization he underwent already putting him out on the streets doing who knows what instead of raising his kid.

And there was the other strange thing.

After the initial shock wore off, calling the memories I had in this world any less real than the time I was spending getting by as a broke student didn’t feel right. The experiences were all there, meshing together. Hell, calling Aunt Nozomi without the whole aunt title felt weird.

Who exactly was I? Broke student struggling to get by or the son of a soon to be infamous killer? No, now wasn’t the time for existential bullshit. I was here now and I had to deal with it.

The fact that my father wasn’t dead or in prison meant this was actually before the main plot.

Get the fuck out of Japan. The ideal plan if you asked me but easier said than done for some kid my age. Then again, as different as this world was, advancing quite differently with the onset of quirks, most of the schoolwork disregarding things like history, biology and other specifics matched up with all the knowledge from my other set of memories.

A child prodigy could probably secure a scholarship in a whole different country, then just wait for the main plot of this show out. Change my last name when I was older and I could live a pretty normal life in this world; it had all the same comforts and technology.

I fought back a grimace, watching the cars outside, invisible pangs poking at my chest.

Hero killer or not, that meant abandoning my father to a shitstorm that, if my existence didn’t change, would end with him dying.

Dammit. There was a massive difference in experience between the two sets of memories, but emotion was emotion, it didn’t respect the logic of something like seniority. Knowing what awaited just left my stomach twisting.

Speaking of my existence, there was the whole butterfly effect to consider. His actions as Stain were important enough by the end of the story that it wasn’t an exaggeration to say he played a role in keeping All Might alive and preventing All For One’s or Shigaraki’s victory. I honestly didn’t believe just existing was enough to cause something so unrelated like Lady Nagant from never ending up in prison, but it could very well stop him from being in place to give All Might that bit of help he needed for everything to go as it did originally.

Either way, running away was risky.

Then there was the other option; sticking close to things myself. That was just asking for change to happen but it meant being able to influence that change.

So, run and pray or stick around and, more than likely, fight in some form.

I held back a groan, falling further back in my chair.

Why couldn’t I have rolled some overpowered shit from that damn gacha? The choice would be way easier then.

XOXO

Getting involved with the main plot, whether it was by jumping headfirst into it and recklessly going wild or skirting the edges of thing might not be as hard as it sounded.

In the bathroom of aunt Nozomi’s apartment, I opened up my mouth, pushing my tongue out and moving it around. I was easily able to pass my nose and reached even further past that, my long thinning tongue able to bend and flex around with far more mobility than a typical person’s.

My canine teeth were pretty different than the typical too. They were sharp. Sharp to the point of being comparable to that one psycho Toga Himiko.

A prehensile tongue and sharp teeth. If those physical mutations were all there was to my quirk, I’d be feeling even more hopeless but those were just aspects to help the main function.

Tongue retracted and finger brought up to my mouth, I pricked it easily, teeth cutting through the skin with nearly no pressure and the oddly sweet taste of my own blood spreading across my tongue.

My skinny body swelled slightly, the charge not that noticeable but my shirt definitely a little tighter. I flexed my right arm. I was still on the slim side like any kid, but the lean muscle was too defined to go unnoticed either.

Drinking blood strengthened me.

Did blood types affect the degree of the strengthening? How long the state lasted? Did amount also play a role?

All questions I should’ve been figured out but surprise surprise, being blissfully unaware and innocent didn’t exactly create a sense of urgency. Like all children I’d just been playing around with my quirk here and there, not really all that interested in it because one too many would’ve looked at me differently for it.

To think I’d been so uninterested in my own quirk for so long. I guess my boy Syndrome was right. When everyone’s special, no one’s special.

Man having two sets of memories was so weird.

Either way depending on those limits, if I decided to go to UA, it should be possible. I mean a physical enhancement quirk wasn’t all that special but, mean as it was, a kid with sticky grapes for hair made it into the main class. A kid that threw literal balls. Balls.

If I was passed up a spot in the main class for that, especially considering how troublesome Mineta had been as a student, I definitely would’ve been pissed. Even if it ended up being more useful than expected later on in the show plenty of those outside the main class realistically would’ve been a better fit for the class.

U.A. definitely made some picks for their main class not just off of combat potential but future tactical use.

“Katsu!”

Washing off the small cut in the sink, I left the bathroom behind, walking through the slim halls of the apartment and entering the kitchen. Aunt Nozomi, finishing up setting a pair of plates for us on the table, raised a brow as she looked me over.

“I cut my finger.” I explained, raising the hand to show off the little cut, the bleeding already slowed.

“Do you want me to clean it?”

“I’m not a baby.” The grumble left without any need for thought as I sat down at the table with her.

“Hmmm, well be more careful.” She warned.

Together we ate the dinner she’d prepared.

Honestly, I couldn’t help but wonder if my father always had a sister that was just never mentioned in lore or had this whole bizarre situation somehow bended reality to make our existence possible. She was a pretty plain looking woman with the same dark hair as us but a pair of plain dark eyes to go with it.

She wouldn’t really stand out in a crowd and from what I’ve seen, was the type to keep to herself, happily going about her life free of drama or trouble with only a handful of friends. The only source of that she allowed into her life was from me and my father.

Looking at her made me wonder about all this? Had the whole of My Hero literally been another world I was tossed it to? A reality created from the ground up by that weird system? But my whole life here felt real enough to me. To real to be called some show.

Would anything else really be as I expected?

“You look like you’re in a good mood.” Aunt Nozomi commented, once again focusing on me.

Fully moving in her was still more of a sore event for me and I’d been being a little ungrateful bastard to her this whole time, brooding about my father never being around. The pure innocent ignorance of children my age really was something. She was taking care of her brother’s kid as best she could for a long ass time and all that attitude probably hadn’t made things any easier on her.

“Maybe it was the cursing?” I suggested, the response once again coming to me without much thought.

“Is that right?” She said with a little chuckle before giving me a sterner look. “Well just don’t let it happen again, young man. I don’t want anyone thinking you don’t have any manners.”

“Right, sorry.”

She nodded, satisfied, and returned to her food after giving me a smile.

Luckily for me brooding meant a lot of the silent treatment. If there was any change in how I was acting due to these combined memories besides not obsessing over my father not being around every second of the day, she was more focused on the fact that I was willing to give her more than one word answers.

I really had been acting like one of those ungrateful little bastards in shows and movies.

After we ate and some goodnights, I headed to my room, the secondary room down the hall of the small apartment, and fell back onto my plain black sheets.

A sigh slipped out.

The future was questionable at best.

[Feat Accomplished!

Survive your first day as a user of the Chaos Gacha System with a medium level curse

+3x Bronze Random Gacha Ticket

+1x Advantage Silver Random Gacha Ticket]

I blinked.

Hell yeah! I mentally yelled to myself. This was a gacha system, so I guess this was like my welcome gift? Bronze tickets were the worse tickets but hey, something was better than nothing.

How did I even use any of these tickets in the first place? Its not like-

[Rolling Bronze Random Gacha…]

[Dry

Trash Ability

Allows you to dry any object you are touching, note that does not evaporate all water particles inside but only gets rid of moisture the object should otherwise not have.]

Well, that was a shitty ability to end up with. Convenient in everyday life but shitty if I wanted to be able to hold my own in this world. Either way, I guess this whole thing just responded to my will and thoughts? Could I roll two tickets at the same time?

[Rolling 2x Bronze Random Gacha…]

[Dread Helm

Trash Item

DnD - A black metal helmet that is fairly durable, the eye holes in the visor can also glow an intimidating red.]

[Soylent Green

Trash Item

Soylent Green - A tin of Soylent Green, it is not appetizing, but it is nutritious enough to not let you starve; the taste generally varies from person to person. Restock Timer: 1 Hour]

This was some grade A bullshit. Three back to back rolls and I get nothing, but trash ranked stuff? Was the pool for the bronze tickets that bad or my luck? Whether or not it actually mattered, I’m just going to go ahead and follow my old gacha routines and save that last ticket for later.

I’m pretty sure the advantage part meant I’d be making two rolls and actually choosing between them. If I ended up having to choose between trash and trash…

I let out a groan, stretching out across my bed.

I was in for a rough time if these pulls were a sign of the future but at least I didn’t have work or pay rent anymore.
