“No way, you’re a fan too?”

“Uh-huh. I have the older ones on DVD. I’ve probably rewatched them more than I should.”

“We should go see the newest one together this Sunday.” Ochaco was slow to answer, hesitating. “I’ll buy the tickets and you get the snacks. It’ll be fun.” Himiko quickly threw in, abandoning her handhold with Katsu to step in closer to Ochaco, bumping shoulders with a smile. “Or maybe we can sneak some in? Or are you too heroic to break a rule like that?”

“Well, I might be able to do that.” Ochaco said, head tilted a bit. “Can I let you know later?”

Himiko nodded, smiling as they started talking about something else.

Things were perfect.

They were walking uphill alongside many other students and the occasional passing car or bike, towards U.A’s distance walls. Katsu had fallen back a little behind the two of them, flipping through some notecards, only joining the conversation whenever they drew him into it.

Katsu was kind. Maybe not the kind of friendly that went of the way to make friends with everyone but still kind. She’d already known that but with everything they were sharing with each other, that part of him ran even deeper than she thought.

If she could walk around making her quirk, magic, or whatever Katsu's abilities were, stronger just from making friends, she might have done just that whether she liked them or not. Not to mention the two of them. It wasn’t like he hadn’t known she liked him all this time. She’d been holding herself back in Aichi but if Katsu had so much as suggested otherwise just to get one of those tickets?

She would’ve jumped right on him, never once thinking he had some ulterior motive.

“Think you’ll be free to come if we do go to the movies, Katsu?” She asked looking back at him.

He glanced up from his notecard and raised a brow. “Probably not. I’m thinking about going hiking this Sunday.”

Here she was tossing over an easy chance to try and cozy up to Ochaco, but he was doubling down on his plan to head out to some rural place under the excuse of hiking to go practice with more of his abilities.

“Hiking?” Ochaco asked, looking back at him. “Is that something you do a lot?”

“Not really but I want to try it out. It seems like it’ll be easier to get some extra training with my quirk away from the city.”

“Unsupervised? It sounds kind of dangerous to do something like that in a place you’ve never been before.” Ochaco said, brow furrowing. “Aren’t you worried about running into a wild animal or accidentally hurting yourself?”

“I’ll be keeping some of Himiko’s blood on me.” He said nudging his head toward her. “O type like hers heals any injuries I get.”

“Wow, your quirk heals you too?” For a moment amazement swept Ochaco up, but her concern jumped back ahead of it. “Well, be careful if you really are doing something like that. It still sounds dangerous to me.”

Himiko would’ve thought the same but now that she knew what she did, it was hard to imagine a simple animal or the great outdoors being a problem for him. All those animals, machine, and other stuff he called familiars was crazy enough on their own. Wherever he went, it was like he was walking around with an entire hero team on standby.

Still, if Ochaco ended up not agreeing to hangout and she didn’t make plans with anyone else, she’d be going out there with him. Dedicating a day to training was more his idea of fun rather than hers but the stronger she got the better.

And she did like seeing him push himself.

“And what about you? What is All Might like as a teacher?”

She slowed, the other two doing the same. As they got closer to the school, joining them along the path were reporters. A whole bunch of them.

They’d been buzzing around since the start of the school year but were out in droves today. It sounded like word about All Might being a teacher at the school had finally become mainstream news.

What a pain.

What was it that one loudmouth in their class liked to call people? Extras? She could do without a bunch of them cutting into their conversation and stuffing cameras in their faces.

At least none of them actually crossed the school’s gate. Despite it being wide open, everyone knew better than to try and test the place’s infamous defense systems.

Hopefully they got through the crowd quickly.

XOXO

“Midoriya, you already know your problem. Your quirk won’t mean much if you always end up breaking your body so hurry up and get to fixing that.”

“Bakugo, you’re talented so don’t let one loss get to your head.”

“Kaminari, take a lesson out of your partner’s book and think before you use your quirk. You’re training to be a hero; harming other heroes and civilians is a quick way for any pro to lose their license.”

“Toga.” Himiko perked up as their teacher’s eyes fell on her. “You have a talent for sneaking around. Put in a request for more appropriate gear to go with your costume, you’ll be more efficient.” She nodded while he moved on to the next student.

With every one of their teachers being a pro hero, she kind of expected all of them to be extremely good at their job. It turned out being super powered didn’t mean being super teachers. Most of them were just fine, no different than any other teacher she’d had, with a few standouts.

All Might was one of those stand outs for the wrong reasons. It might be too early to say for sure but based off that first day, practically speaking, he didn’t come off as the best teacher. If you weren’t good at learning through doing, his advice and speeches were really only good for motivation and inspiration with bits of good information if you leaped through hoops to find them.

Annoyingly, the bummy looking homeroom teacher of theirs seemed like the best so far. He balanced the vague hope All Might inspired with blunt direct criticism that was hard to argue with, nothing sugarcoated. Even in the mundane subjects he was responsible for teaching, strict as he was about things, he did make sure to bring those who were struggling up to speed with clear directions and explanations.

Maybe she’d get some lens to go with her mask for night vision. Or maybe some goggles like Tsu. She didn’t struggle much with the dark, but she’d almost slipped up on some of that acid the girl with the horns had been throwing around a few times.

“Yaoyorozu, keep doing what you’re doing.” Aizawa finished up the rest of his criticisms, only two students going unaddressed. That boy with the crazy scar over his left eye and Katsu, the two only given curt nods. She guessed it was kind of hard to give any useful criticism to the guy who froze an entire building and walked his way through every room until he found the bomb, Katsu who’d been smart and quick with his approach, or Yaoyorozu who did her part.

Funny how all three of them were in the same part of class, the ice kid assigned to the seat in front of Yaoyorozu.

“Right, there is something else that needs to be handled before we end homeroom.” Aizawa said. Were they going to be doing some other kind of training exercise? “You all need to decide your class president and vice president.”

Himiko leaned back in her seat, interest loss. That sounded boring.

“Oooo! Pick me, pick me!”

“I should be the president!”

“Over here! I’ll get the job done!”

The class erupted, she the only one who saw things that way. Even Tsu showed eagerness, a hand raised as a ribbit left her.

Yeah, that tracked. Everyone else was here to be a hero and being class president was always a good look. Being made the bona-fide leader of the hero course students here at U.A? There wouldn’t be a single agency that wouldn’t want whoever ended up with the position.

She glanced back.

Katsu wasn’t yelling anything like the others, but he did have a hand propped up on his desk and raised.

She looked between Tsu, Aoyama, and Toru.

They were probably going to have to vote for the positions with so many people trying to go for it. She might as well try to convince one or two of them to help that workaholic get what he wanted.

XOXO

“These are the results.” Aizawa announced with a yawn, all of our names and the number of votes we received written beside them on the classroom’s board. As expected, a vast majority of us had exactly one vote.

“Alright, who voted for Deku?!” Bakugo shouted, already out of his seat and glaring. Midoriya sat above the majority, two votes to his name.

“Did you seriously think anyone was going to vote for you?” Kirishima asked pretty much what everyone was thinking. Back in junior high Bakugo might’ve been able to get away with his attitude but that wasn’t really doing him any favors here.

“You got the most votes, that makes you class president, Akaguro.” Aizawa announced, ignoring that outburst. “Congratulations.” That tired tone of his didn’t lend any sincerity to it but that hardly bothered me.

I looked from him to Himiko. She, Tsu, and Hagakure were all giving me a thumbs up. At least, I think Hagakure was, her uniform turned to face me. Aoyama, propping his chin up on his desk, winked.

Spy or not, a vote was a vote I guess. It looks like I had Himiko to thank for my landslide victory.

“Midoriya and Yaoyorozu, you’re both tied for vice president. I’ll leave you three to settle it between yourselves.” Aizawa announced the other surprise. Yaoyorozu had managed to end up with two votes right alongside Midoriya. “Have it figured it out by the time your lunch is over.”

With that business done, Aizawa concluded homeroom, leaving the classroom with his sleeping bag in tow. We weren’t given any real time to talk about the results before Present Mic, our first teacher of the day, stepped in, loudly gathering our attention.

I hadn’t been too invested in actually getting the position but now that it was a reality, I wasn’t giving it up. The attention from agencies wasn’t a real factor for me but rather the responsibility itself. It was an easy excuse to use to help Midoriya with his quirk.

Plus, the carefree bid paid off in other ways.

Thank you Himiko.

Lunch came quickly, the ring of the bell classes later signaling lunch. Everyone got up and I did the same, not leaving but making my way towards the front of the class.

“Midoriya.” I called out waving. He was in the middle of getting up himself, talking with Uraraka and Iida, all three stopping to look at me. “You mind coming with me for a bit? We should probably talk about the vice president thing.”

“A-Alright.” He quickly agreed, nodding way more than he needed to.

“Even though I came up with idea for a vote, its pains me out things ended up like this, but I can’t refute the results.” Iida said, clenching a fist. He stood up straight, adjusting his glasses. “I ask that you give your best to the position you’ve been elected for, Akaguro. Anything less would be disrespectful to those who came before you.”

“That’s the plan.” I forced out with a nod, Iron Mind keeping it far more casual than I felt.

“Good luck you two.” Uraraka said cheerfully, giving us a smile that left Izuku red face and looking everywhere but at her.

“Yo, Pres.” Himiko popped in beside them, Tsu and Hagakure with her. “You guys going to talk about that vice president stuff, right?” I nodded. “Good luck going up against Yaoyorozu. She seems like the more fitting one for the job, no offense.”

“N-N-None taken!” Midoriya exclaimed, face reddening even further, as Tsu and Hagakure wished him the same. I knew he was on the timid side, but this was really something to see firsthand.

Himiko snickered a little before pulling me down for a kiss on the cheek, beside Uraraka in the next moment. “Ochaco, and, you’re Iida, right? Want to eat lunch with us?”

“It was questionable before but now that Akaguro is our class president, public displays of affection like that should be-“

“At least wait until we get to the cafeteria if you’re going to be a buzzkill.”

“Bu-Buzzkill?”

“We’ll save you a spot, ribbit.” Tsu said, before following them out. I wasn’t sure I could see Himiko and Iida getting along but it’d probably be fine. That whole group should keep things balanced out.

Midoriya loosened up, dropping his shoulders and releasing a sigh.

“You know you’re going to have to talk to Yaoyorozu, right?” I asked. He looked at the back of the class, she still at her desk and touching up her notes from our latest lesson. Red instantly returned to his face.

Every single girl in this building was going to have that effect on him, weren’t they?

I wasn’t sure what advice to give to someone so nervous over something like that, so I just nudged my head for him to follow me and headed back to my desk. Midoriya quietly took the one in front of us, nervously glancing up at Yaoyorozu and dropping his eyes back to the ground.

Hopefully he could actually hold a conversation here.

XOXO

“He destroyed that thing with one punch?” Himiko asked.

“Indeed. Though he is a bit reckless and doesn’t seem to have much control over his quirk, Midoriya has shown himself to be a prime example of what a student of U.A. should be. It’s why I voted for him.” Iida said, nodding to himself.

“He ended up saving me too, so he got my vote.” Ochaco added, nodding along with him, quick to return to her food.

The way he faced that loudmouth and destroyed the building they’d been in during the battle trials had been crazy, but it really sounded like that Midoriya guy didn’t match his looks at all. She and Tsu had just taken off in their own testing area when the zero pointer showed up.

“Guess he didn’t vote for himself then.” Himiko muttered as she looked away from them, finding her attention settling on Tsu who sat beside her, in the middle of looking between the different entrances to the cafeteria.

Did Tsu even realize how obvious she was?

Himiko hadn’t been sure back when they hung out before coming to U.A. but it was hard to miss now. Tsu wasn’t the most expressive around so when she got embarrassed it stood out plenty, every one of those rare moments around Katsu. Like she was doing now, Tsu probably looked out for him as much as she did. And that smile she had whenever the two of them had a little back and forth.

Himiko had done a lot of people watching over the years but maybe it was so obvious to her because she’d done the exact same things after meeting Katsu.

Tsu had a crush on him.

“Ribbit?” Tsu tilted her head a bit as she turned back to her food, caught off guard by her look.

She could feel it. A kind of hunger or thirst that had nothing to do with food, her mouth beginning to water. Tsu had already agreed to it. There wasn’t anything wrong with asking for a bit now, was there?

“Tsu-“

Blaring alarms rang out across the entire cafeteria, confused shouts breaking out.

Dammit.

XOXO

(A/N: Toga's just getting edged right now lol. And, of course, to no real surprise at all, she has picked up on Tsu's crush. We'll see how that goes.

Anyways, overtime is calling my name this week but I should be able to keep things cool as long as I stick to my routine. Build good habits people! Saves you a whole lot of effort you might need to focus on something else.)

Is it weird that every time I read Akaguro, it sounds like a Mortal Kombat announcer saying it in my head.

Thirdratewriter

The name does have a kind of serious vibe to. Especially considering he generally goes by Katsu. Now I kind of want to look through the gacha entries to see if they have some kind of stupid announcer trait. Would be kind of funny for an Omake or something.

Isaac Roldan

god...that would be funny. A gag omake would be great with everyone randomly hearing theme music or a narrator describing what they are doing at the moment out loud including their thoughts.

Thirdratewriter

Lol. Even if there isn't a trait like that, I might make one for the sake of the Omake. Have it sound like an an announcer like the one from Mortal Kombat or Halo activates whenever he's fighting, training, or challenging someone. Then just make it so Katsu is gaslighting other people into thinking they're crazy by pretending not to hear it. Or like you said, whenever he shows up with theme music or something. Humor isn't my strong suit but the idea gets a chuckle out of me.
