Hey!

Hope you're well! I wanted to share where I am with the current Gundam piece - I've mostly got Char in a good spot, just some light painting over top and then final painting once the background is all completed to make sure everything blends nicely, but all in all I'm pretty happy so far.

I also included some thoughts on the process I've been using to work through Char, this process has been far more streamlined than my previous pieces - I'm using a lot of what I learned from the Cowboy Bebop piece to quickly work through building up all the light/shadow in the forms and control how each is rendered. Once I have him fully painted I'll do another video demo showing how I'm using the same sort of approach I used for the Kirby video but with a better execution.

The brushes I used for this one are also included below - if you downloaded the previous set from the Kirby video then you likely already have these!

Thanks as always for your support!

Dave

This is the exact piece I wanted to see from you, and you’ve made me an unfathomably happy guy.

The more I look at this, the more I see strong Alex Ross vibes, especially in elements like the way light falls on surfaces like the glove. Really beautiful stuff, man.

Thank you! I realized a bit into this that that's what the style I've been using reminds me of - that washy watercolor look - which is very satisfying for me as I've wanted my stuff to feel that way for a long time.
