Hey!

Hope you're well! This is the latest process I've been using for my grayscale painting approach - this starts in Clip Studio and moves over into Photoshop. The video is real time process and I've included my brushes(.sut is for Clip, .abr for photoshop) below as well as the image itself.

Please let me know if there's anything you'd like me to clarify on this process! Hope it helps!

Thanks as always for your support!

I'm doing good! Thank you! My wife and kids are still recovering, I'm currently locked in the office with the littlest one while my wife rests, we're doing what we can :)

Oh awesome thank you! Glad to see you using clip studio more! It’s so hard to find painting walkthroughs with clip studio

Your knowledge of light/shadow/form is so fantastic. I love seeing the way you render in greyscale. Your videos are so informative and helpful! So thankful to be able to watch your work!

Man I really loved this video! Really liked what you mentioned about brushes and how they really are important, Atleast for stylistic choices. Also really loved the part where you spoke about painting ontop of a white background because it helps the color phase later on. That whole thing you described about the image eventually looking too dark, was the issue I always had with the greyscale to color approach. Definitely gonna adapt that for my next few projects. This really made me want to give clip another try again too. And finally, thanks again Dave, glad to hear you all are handling covid well, I recently just recovered myself. Take your time with everything and rest when you can.

Oh and that whole Q and A idea sounds awesome!

Dave, this video is 100% my thing! Love this content. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome video, I've been bouncing between clip and PS trying to find something that feels comfy but maybe combining the two for best of both really is the solution, Hope you and the fam are recovering well dude.

Thanks for sharing Dave!

Hi Dave! I was trying to try out that CSP brush you shared but I have a suspicion that either I am missing something on my side or its not the same brush as the video. I set the opacity the same and I played with the anti-aliasing settings to match the example but then I noticed that the name is different. I might just be dumb, its been a long day. Any ideas?

If you didn't find out yet it's the 'G-Pen Fine' from the same 'Casa G-Pen' set on clip studio assets.
