Just listening to this week's episode and want to say I'm from Thornaby-on-Tees the neighbour town of Stockton-on-Tees and we are an old Viking settlement on the river Tees. Its quite unremarkable here though. The houses in England come in Terraced (all houses with zero gaps between), semi-detached which is the one in the picture. Two or three houses with gaps between or detached which is one house on its own with land at either side. It is believed that our coast is actaully part of the Apalachias from when everything was stuck togther. Something about fossils matching the areas or something. No idea if it's true or not but it would explain a lot of the North East coasts weirdness.
