Always love it when I get to start my weekend with your One Piece reactions 🥰 And welcome to the widescreen era 🥳 This small arc we're getting into is one of the best side quests I've watched so far imo 😁 And she said my name 😍 Although the "u" in my name is pronounced like "oo" but I'm used to it 🤭

I’m just going to warn you, this ark is a mix of cannon/filler. When this came up the anime was catching up to the manga. So they did some stuff to this ark that made this mark have mixed reviews. You can definitely tell what humor was came by oda and what wasn’t. Now I’m not 100% sure but I think starting with this Opening song was when they are all in Japanese even the dub. This is the first dub ark that didn’t have any fingerprints from 4kids. And no this is the first big jump with quality to the animation. One Piece is so long that you really get to see the different areas of animation.

Look, Long Ring Long Land and G8 are rival arcs. The author understood there needed to be a break away from the regular life or death struggles with torturous flashbacks, and the animation studio who makes this series took the opportunity to hire a director who regularly handled films for G8 in turn. They managed to match up great with G8 having heartfilled moments of well cemented character aspects, with the narrative flare of a marine captain highlighting the execution of such with a chessboard, and this one focusing on a good laugh. But I'll be honest I kinda hate the animation studio's additional games, 3 was enough to show everyone off IMO. One Pace wouldn't dare skip this in-manga arc, even at this point of the series two decades later aspects of what's mentioned here are lore staples . One being a hidden underarching constant plotthread that easily gets passed by in this arc even though another reference is made to it in the next, and the idea that a Davy Back Fight is long rooted pirate culture. So it should be obvious down the line somewhere that some other crew had worked the same strategy.

Ok you've made it so a few things 1. Bellamy surved under Doflamingo so all his underlings share the same flag 2. Doflamingo is best described as "he's out of line but he's right" it's what makes him a fan favorite 3. Lastly stock up on tissues because after this it gets heavy
