Wanted to give this idea another shot! For the future solo poll. Do you guys like this one more than the older one (second image)? I’ve been wanting to try more interesting and challenging perspectives so I attempted that here. Let me know if you like the older one more though as I can reuse that one in the poll again.

They are both great but I think the new one is a bit more dynamic and interesting!

I adore the image w/ your signature on the bottom left; if you’re looking for some cool color/lighting inspo to play with if you take either image to the canvas, you should consider checking out Jim Krantz’s photography, especially the commercial work he did for Wells Fargo & Marlboro. The dynamics of the piece match a lot of Jim’s stuff.

I personally like the older one as it shows more environmental storytelling and looks more natural

I actually agree with the first post, that there is more storytelling in the older work. However, I LIKE the newer one better. I wonder if there is some way to have more bg in the new one?

I like them both

I like them both - I prefer interesting angles but I also think the color scheme in the second one is more interesting and gives a very different and more engaging feel to the image that is kind of lost in all the cold blue of the mostly-sky version. I'd suggest maybe trying to make the first one even more interesting by giving it a different background and/or lighting? I know you're kind of limited by the angle and by wanting to keep the focus on the character, but it could be anything from a sunset or stormy sky to a barn wall or interior ceiling. Something to bring some warmth back in would be ideal, I think, for a pin-up like this. I also prefer the higher value contrast on the face in the second one, I think bringing back the light reflecting off the black fur would help draw the eye to the face and keep a greater amount of detail centered on the focal point (unless you don't want the focal point to be the face, it just looks like it is right now because it's the most tightly rendered part of the image). I also just think that rendering high contrast black fur is one of your strong points based on the art I've seen so far, so it's good to include it!
