So....
I know...

I have been mulling over this since I created my channel....
And I have many mixed feelings about this...There is a chance I wont finish filming and editing and uploading this video I took this snap from....but...

To me, I think....eyes are the windows to the soul. That is how u make a true connection. With a lot of my roleplays I feel like, i do them a disservice by them not having eye contact...(other solution is to have them entirely audio only - which I will do!)

THAT BEING SAID

There are these things...called filters...which renders ones face, barely recognisable....so i believe i've developed a little...hack, loop hole, or what not....a "Rulebook" that i'm happy with. And I think it will be good for my channel, and, for me

1- Filter must render facial features un-recognisable or hide all but eyes
2- or cover face with IRL with a mask, and just show eyes.

(the bad thing is...these filters require my finger on the button- hello shakey cam)

NOW whether digital (way more fun) or real (It is in the mail) I will have a way to film roleplays without showing anything other than my soul...lol... :p

Granted I'm still shy about it and might just keep it to patrons only for the meanwhile and potentially forever.

I hope I don't regret it in future...but I think after all this time I am happy with that compromise.

P.S. - It's not that i feel pressure from the community- it's that i feel it is holding me back from what I want to create. And of course also holding my channel back.

Yeah no worries mate, you could wear a burqa like Pauline Hanson😂😂 Nah but if you’re worried about stalkers (especially when the channel gets bigger) you could wear contacts to change your eye colour (unless you fkn hate them like myself)

For what it's worth, I think Fast ASMR had well over 200k subscribers until she fully showed the upper half of her face. I understand what you mean about the eyes though - eye contact alone can convey all sorts of emotions better than any words can describe. If you feel like you want to tell a specific story that would benefit from using (filtered) eye contact then I can't blame you and I'll cheer you on as you make it. Whichever way you want to take your content, we'll back you. It's been fun to see your transformation from traditional ASRM audio only content, to more technical and layered audios to where we are now with some of the most detailed prop design I've seen that puts the larger channels to shame. So yeah, go with your gut and do whatever you think will make your next video better because I'm excited to see what's next!

For me, gaining more subscribers would want me to less show my face?? I know perhaps for some they don't want to reveal their Identity to not embarass themselves with a small following?? i can't fathom why else they would wait for X subscribers... For me, I am just trying to keep safe, and trying to remain anonymous tbh- i don't want ppl recognising me and revealing my personal info. That's the main reasons. So, i'd be more inclined to hide the videos if i do well (i just don't see that happening) so i feel pretty safe in that my channel will stay small, so i'm ok with it :) I really appreciate you liking my props! I literally BLEED to make them (Stabbed myself this week making a wood carving. Oops?) Thanks Leukos! Just trying to make my videos more effective! I think eye contact on rps work well. But I won't be adding it without reason! :)

I wasn't sure if I should ask following that response about wanting to remain anonymous but I just gotta know, do you have a background in set design or theater? I'm really not looking to hype you up too much but some of the stuff you've made looks incredibly well done - your eye for detail is one of your strongest suits and it is very much appreciated!

I also do not have a bg in set design or anything like that ....I have an eye for detail...when I want to. But sometimes i've very very verrrry oblivious! I'm artistic, and I dunno if that has anything to do with it? I'm a perfectionist too....perhaps that plays a part. Thank you, i appreciate you thinking so highly of my work!!! ^.^ XD

It might be worth ordering a simple Niqab: they're usually black by default but I'm sure you could buy ones in other colours and then decorate them to fit whatever theme your video will have. For example, you could have a Larundel Ranger who wears a "forresty" Niqab with leafs, plants, twigs and netting on it etc. Cut out the portion around your lips and paint them black - enabling the mic to pick up your voice. Alternatively just record the audio voice track separately and have everything but eyes covered.

Also I would advise against trusting Patrons with something you deem sensitive: there is nothing stopping a Patron recording your Patron-Only partial face reveals and then uploading it to YT or other sites - and such instances are absolutely *not* unheard of. If the camera is now going to be aimed more at your face then you need to be mindful of what potentially-identifiable things are in the background: unique paintings, wallpaper, furniture etc; anything that could make someone you know IRL stop and go: "hold on - that's X's room!" Any shots outside your house -- and on your immediate street of address -- need to essentially not be uploaded, like *ever*. Wanna film outside? Go to a park or just somewhere away from your street. Uploading any photographs? Check your camera and if needed delete as much EXIF data as possible, especially satellite co-ordinates embedded in the photo's metadata. Be smart, exercise caution and use your judgement, Aussie.

That's why the stuff i'd upload to patreon I would be ok with. I've been very observant of my bgs and which images i share! :) I think i'm being smart! And yes, i was aware of satellite co-ordinates and such so it's good to know i'm not forgetting anything! Thank you for having my safety in mind!! :) I appreciate it!! Thank youuu! ^.^
