On this episode of Fancy Movie Time with Brian and A.J., the Fancy Lads make for the bleak moral landscape of Gallup, New Mexico as they cover Billy Wilder's 1951 western noir: Ace in the Hole. Does its incredible dialogue and engrossing atmosphere make it a Fancy Feast? Or does its relentlessly bleak tone make it a Failure to Fancy? One thing's for sure: Baja Blast is the official drink of Twin Peaks.

I've only seen it once, in London in 1999. But it remains one of the theatergoing highlights of my life.

As a southerner, I never understood the bragging about eating bacon egg and cheese on bread when biscuits exist. But I also never understood bodega pride either. Oh wow, you can get a shitty sandwich and various household items from the same place you buy your cigarettes and mountain dew code red? Let me know when you've stood in line at the lone greasy and grimey gas station in Ass Crack GA, waiting to buy lotto tickets, toilet bowl cleaner, and fried chicken gizzards. (The toilet bowl cleaner is for after the gizzards 😉)

McClintock didn't just end with Wayne publicly humiliating his wife into line by spanking her in front of the entire town. Hiis future son in law, having earned Wayne's favor, has to smack sense into his bride to be, McClintock's daughter.

If you want a western that really leaves you in a sad and depressed state, a real bleak masterpiece, I'd suggest The Great Silence

As someone who baffles his wife with his love of weird meats, I am always ecstatic when we go to New York and I can get a tongue sandwich on rye.

Was not expecting the musical theater discourse and bonus Idina Menzel!
