Abigail Thorn (The Acolyte, House of the Dragon) and the lads stand up for their beliefs and just kinda drive around New Mexico as they cover the 2014 evangelical political thriller: Persecuted. Topics include passion plays, the art of selling evangelicalism, and what it means to build your entire theological identity around whining like a smol bean.

Kill James Bond! is a comedy film review/ pop culture commentary podcast about the portrayal of masculinity in cinema. November Kelly, Abigail Thorn, and Devon have watched Bond movies, War on Terror movies, Eurospy movies, and now they take on their biggest task yet: Heist Movies. What can Heat, Oceans’ 11, and the Fast and Furious movies teach us about how masculinity was imagined by the people who created them? What does that say about Society? Free episodes are released every fortnight on all major podcast platforms and bonus episodes are released for supporters on Patreon on the interstitial weeks.

Near the end of the episode, I thought it would be funny if you all gave this a SCUM score. Imagine my delight when Abi said the words, "science based system". My morning was made!

This is the second (I think) time that kids being adopted from Korea has been mentioned and it's something I wanna look into now because it's likely my mom was one of those kids. She was born during the Korean war and is half white. We've never been able to find anything about the circumstances of her surrender to the orphanage she ended up at and I doubt we'll ever know anything about her biological mother but I'd be really interested in learning about what happened to all those kids and the history of that program.

OLO

Two acting powerhouses in this ep, Abi of Star Wars and Josh of Delgo 2

Helena McCoy

Abigail "Philosophy Tube" Thorn? Star of stage and screen and also pod cast? Damn thats crazy

Cam

John Persecuted just makes me think that a shortcoming of John Taliban by TF was that it was before the TWOAPW lads were an allied podcast

BarFly

Me watching the trailer for this movie: "Okay, James Remar, Fred Thompson, that makes sense. This one guy's just doing a Clinton impression - DEAN FUCKING STOCKWELL?"

Cam

Italian, of course, given the switch

AngryOldManYaddaYadda

Every time someone said "Dipshit Ryan", I could only hear it to the tune of "Zoot Suit Ryan" by the Cherry Poppin' Daddies, so thanks for that.

Ben

Wait, so Lusko said it took him five years to make the film, meaning he probably wrote the screenplay 2009-2010. Is Sumac supposed to be ACORN?

I Love Brian Alford's Bible Corner

As the board chair of a non-profit immigration law office that's close to going under, these megachurches are such a fucking joke. Elevation could easily single-handedly save us without even knowing they lost money but I'm out there begging instead.

Nemo

everybody persecute me, i fed up of this world

The Coffin Club

Abi was such a delight to hear on the show and she meshed wonderfully with participating with your style and discussion of the movie. What a shame she'll never come back because she learned about America (kidding).

Gorbant

That was a lovely short installment of *Josh's Tax Policy Corner (ka-chunk, DING!)*

P.A.L.

Operation Paperclip but for podcasts is just the DNC's current media plan tbh

Sword Through Your Window

the interstitial made me go listen to Illinois because it had been a while since i listened through the whole album and it really made my day. thanks lads!

Ember, of the Starship Trinary

I was listening to an episode of Kill James Bond, and then right into this cold open here, and I went from Abigail's voice with Devon and November, to Abigail's voice with you guys, and it was surreal. :-D

I love how charitable and constructive Abi is with this absolute hogwash

Karl Childers

Caroline Rose mentioned hell yes, LONER all time great album

With Georgia Tann, the entire modern adoption process was founded off of trafficking

A Shade In Shades

I think Abi would be a great lead for Persecuted 2: The Government, Health Service and Human Rights Commission Are Actively Trying to Destroy My Community Also, every time you talked about SUMAC I couldn't help but think about a shadowy cabal of religiously tolerant Middle Eastern spice enthusiasts

Rosey Armstrong

I went to many concerts at the KLYT / Calvary skatepark 😅 most memorable was Five Iron's "last" / on their farewell tour

LeechWife

I grew up in "a mildly Lutheran" home in Finland, the religious side coming from my mom as my dad is a Communist and not a member of any church, this whole Mega-Christianity in the U.S. is so interesting. I'm an Atheist myself and left church completely at the age of 18, I honestly cannot entirely crasp the complexity of religion and politics being married together. Edit: Nowadays all my family members have left church but that is only because they don't want to pay church taxes. That has actually been a kind of trend here for some time now.

Gingervald

In case Abby is wondering non-catholics are supposed to cross their arms over their chest and receive a blessing instead of communion. Like Children who haven't had first communion yet. So yes, she did indeed commit sacrilege by tasting the actual true flesh and blood of Jesus Christ. Congratulations 🎉

YOU

Really good ep.
