you guys spoil us and me in particular ♥️ "this episode is a prequel to riven" :^)

Crystal Quest??!! I haven't thought about that in...32 years?

Ajusco Huerta

Its feels wierd and interesting hearing how tech was like for a kid then and now. Something that felt old for me when I was in middle school was prob top of the line for the uncs

FelineJay

Perhaps a secret third episode on the *other* Myst game PYST, featuring... John Goodman?? Edit: Oh, it was mentioned here

Moss

It's so eerie listening this after the incident transpired

Mike Kangal

It's crazy that so many opportunities for puns seem to have been Myst

Erik Jensen

Same! I had competitive hi-score battles with my dad on his Mac. So many hours spent on Crystal Quest and 3 In Three.

Caffeinated Raptor

God even just listening to this episode makes me frustrated and angry. One day maybe I'll just have the guidebook next to me to get through this game. Or maybe ill just accept Im not good at these kinds of games and stop trying to play ttrpgs or video games like them. I do not *get* these games and I will throttle the next person who tells me "its just telling a story with your group!"

Red Ash VA

Get a piece of paper! Gave me PTSD for blue prince

Witting Seanchai

JJ Abrams reading the Silver Sceptre, part 2: "Whoa, you can just say the villain came back to life mysteriously? Why didn't I think of this before?"

Jenny Rice

My college boyfriend (1994) put “solved Myst” on his resume under “computer skills.” Got hired as a programmer.

Karl Childers

I'm playing Myst for the first time today and it occurs to me that this game is a prophecy about the future history of videogames. Yes there's the very direct metaphor of writing text (code) to bring worlds to life & the surprise of said worlds' unexpected emergent behavior, BUT this is also a prophecy about who would wield this craft & why -- the benevolent nerd father spawned to two sons: violence and avarice. Are those not the two main types of videogames nowadays? Games where you kill things and games where you acquire things? Myst is a game about mourning the foreknowledge that mens' lowest impulses would corrupt the magical art of making videogames.

josh, thanks for repping the experience of the real (mac) myst against brian's cruel pc hegemony

Weirder than the anime adaptation “Space Pirate Harlock” version of Das Neibelungenleid?

Zipzapzop

Depends on how you rate space surf boards and goblin powered motorcycles

We had riven the sequel to myst on PS1, but my dipshit brother and I didn't know what sequel or myst meant so we exclusively referred to it as riven the sequel to myst

LogalogJack

That’s beautiful and pure

As a sheltered Gen Z, my first point-and-click was The Room on my grandpa’s shiny new piece of technology: the iPad. I love the first two but got so lost in the third because of all the walking around lol. Maybe this is my sign to both finish The Room 3 and finally play Myst—probably help me appreciate it more, too.

Also baby AJ is a master of foreshadowing. He definitely learned what it was last week and was eager to put it in everything. Love that for him. Genuinely making me tear up, I love seeing kids’ weird passion projects. It’s also unfortunately making me want to dig up my old Star Wars fanfic out of curiosity. That’s gonna hurt

Alison Ball

Reworking my entire personality to become a Lost is Myst truther

Stephanie R

It took me entirely too long to figure out that the guys were saying cyan and not scion in this episode 😂

Simone Meltesen

Oh my god. My friend and I got so frustrated playing myst in high school, probs 1997-8 or so, that we surfed the web and found a message board with the answers/cheat codes and so technically finished the game. We did the same with Riven. Will be sharing this episode with her!

io blanchett

guys i have a request. unfortunately it is the entire resident evil franchise
