I wonder if a binding vow could be made to make attacks non lethal against those he considers "innocent", would probably depend on the verbage

Unfortunately not, otherwise Gojo would have made something like that during Shibuya Incident. Binding Vows cannot allow you to do something you otherwise cant do, or do things by themselves.

Interesting. I could understand it not working for Gojo seeing as his techniques are inherently extremely destructive so maybe it could depend on what you are trying to affect. I could see why it would not allow complete non lethality along those lines seeing as that would be another technique in that case, but maybe something where if you are fighting with a sword you make a binding vow to coat your blade in a dull edge with your cursed energy but it applies to anything you attack it with and needing conditions like revealing your hand, needing a cool down to apply it, needing to strike a certain pose before every attack with it on, etc to where you are not creating a whole new technique but instead applying a debuff on yourself. Not something you would do in a regular fight due to how limiting it is but something useful for fighting those you far outstrip in power like these scenarios. If not then it is an interesting thought experiment if nothing else and why I like power systems like this and Nen where there is a lot of room to experiment depending on what you are doing

Yeah, neither brother has a kit that is very good at non-lethal AoE damage. A binding vow would only really help if you had something already suited for safe takedowns that just needed some fine-tuning. Not even Sukuna could swing that.
