Hey everybody! I hope you all had a lovely week 😌

I’ve been dealing with some art block lately, and this sketch pretty much reflects how restless I feel about my art at the moment 😅 but I thought I would share it with you guys anyway 💖

It was a pretty busy Friday for me so our weekly features will happen tomorrow for a Support Saturday! ✨ As always, if you are interested in receiving a feature of your artwork in my story, drop your username in the comments! I’ll be featuring your lovely work throughout the day tomorrow and a little on Sunday as well for latecomers! 😊

Question: What are some things you do to get over art block? I’d love to know any strategies you guys have 💖

Great job girl! Even when you have “art block” it’s beautiful. I been having blocks too :,c more of struggling with color and such lately. Ah anyways ! Love it ^^ and my insta is @hialycat 💕💖

Sarah

Love how dynamic your sketches are 😍 would love a feature of my dtiys! @xhumming

Pimdee Avihingsanon

Lovely sketch! Can't wait to see when it's done, if you will finish it. 😄 I think sketching random stuff is a good way to get out of art block. And you're doing really great! Would love a feature, btw. @little_dchan 😊😊

I love your sketching style and how it’s always so flowy, her hair especially! 😍 Insta: @reckless.colors

Love your art so much ^.^ my user is @diamaterasu on IG <3

Emma Falconer

It's a gorgeous sketch, I find I like a lot of my sketches better than the finished artwork 🤔😂 when I get art block I look for inspiration wherever I can, sometimes that's looking at my old artworks to see if there's something there that I could revisit or give new life to, I look at other artists and their various styles, looking at the old masters or looking through photos I've taken. Sometimes going through art supplies can trigger something too. I hope this is helpful 💜 Would love a feature @emma_falconer_art 💜

When I hit some art block I usually try to doodle something dumb or try to just sketch stuff really quick so I don’t focus too much on it being perfect. Sometimes I’ll try something super different then my usual work to kind of break out of what I feel stuck on. 😊 @brooke_mccullum

Aw thanks!! 💖 Sorry to hear you’ve been having art blocks too, it’s a struggle! 😪 I totally understand where you’re coming from about the color blocks, sometimes when I struggle with colors I try to make a piece based on a complimentary color scheme or use color feathering until I figure out something good 🤷🏻‍♀️ I hope you get through it soon!! You got this 💖

Thanks Sarah!! And of course OMG your DTIYS looks so graceful and dreamy 💖 Her flowy look is perfect 😍 I’ll happily feature it!

Thank you! 💖 I’m going to try and see where it goes, I’ve worked on it a little more and so far it looks like it might redeem itself! 🤓 and that’s a really great suggestion!! It’s good to remind ourselves that we can make carefree sketches without feeling pressured to make something “good” 🙈 I‘ll happily feature your work tomorrow!💖

Haha I know what you mean! I feel the same way, there’s just something really special about the raw sketch 💖 and oh my goodness thank you so much for all these amazing suggestions! I love the idea of going through art supplies, I wanna try that now 😌 I’ll feature your lovely work tomorrow! 💖

Wow I love the idea of quick sketches! I feel like that would really help because focusing on perfection is what feeds art block I think. And that’s a really cool tip too, now I wanna try drawing something different from my usual work 😄 thanks so much Brooke!! 💖

Yaine

Usually, when I'm art blocked, I do studies 😊 sometimes I also just look at some notes I have on ideas I had but never made, see if any is interesting... or go through my reference folders to see if it can help me feel inspired 🌸 anyway, good luck with that! Also, my username is @yainedraws 😊

Ana Iveet

I try and work of either some quick sketches or just draw what I see I find that not have to think about coming up with a concept or idea helps immensely. Kind gives you brain a break while drawing. @anaiveet

jonpvcs

When I have art block I draw simple boxes and cubes! Shading them laying then on top eachother and making sure the cast shadows are proper. I'd also add areas of darker tone on the forms as well. Pretty sure I got this from Ahmed aldoori. Annnnnyways my insta is @jonpvcs.draws

When I have art block which is usually quite often , I make sure I have a break for about an hour, read a book or have a nap or just have a cup of tea. I put my phone down and just let myself relax. Then I get back up and listen to a podcast and see if anything happens. I have had art block this week but I try not to force anything as I know I can tell it doesnt look right. If that makes sense. Also my username is @anjarichardsart ☺

Anna

I don't have artblocks, so don't know what to say really... I wish that you don't have them too! ❤️ And thanks again for the opportunity to be featured, please, pick this picture :) https://www.instagram.com/p/By0dBOVl0ov/

Adelina (yoharuart)

What does art block mean to you? That you don’t know what to draw? For me it is when I can’t draw anything that satisfies me, like all I do is crap. @yoharu.art

Dafina

I usually take some time off drawing and observe the work of artists I love to get inspired again! :) @dafinart

@abra_axas 😍💛 i love your sketch

Rose Castle

Honestly this sketch is amazing 😍 I usually stop drawing for a bit and watch movies cause somehow they always inspire me!! 🙈😂😂 @roselearnstodraw

I think it varies for me, but most of the time art block makes it hard for me to think of any creative ideas, my drawing doesn’t have a certain feeling of life to it, and it also feels like I lose the ability to draw sometimes! 🤷🏻‍♀️

lotusbubble
>>23992301

That’s so cool you keep notes of ideas! That’s a really cool strategy 😄 It helps me too when I look through reference folders, especially Pinterest ones 😊

>>23992483

I love that concept of giving your brain a break while drawing! I don’t think we realize how hard our brains actually work while we draw, drawing is kind of like problem-solving in a way 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thanks for the great suggestions!! 💖

Oh my goodness Ahmed Aldoori is definitely one of my go-to’s whenever I’m in need of inspiration! I’ve seen some of his cube drawings where they’re stacked like that, I gotta try that! Thanks so much for the inspiration 😊💖

>>23995998

Wow these are amazing strategies! 💖 Taking those quiet moments where you relax your mind like that are so important. I love it!! Thank you 😊

lotusbubble
>>23999535

I love this strategy! 😄 I do this too; it really helps to look through art books by your favorite artists as well! Just getting the visual part of your brain to loosen up a little 😊

>>24003222

Thank you so much!! ☺️ Haha I relate with you on that! Especially the movies that have a lot of emotion or visual beauty, and animations too! 💖

Mailin

art block is hard but I always go on Pinterest and just draw everything that's pleasing my eyes lol helpes sometimes hahah also I'm a little late sry but love to get featured😊❤️

Masayumei

Ahh this is such a pretty sketch. I know a lot of artists like myself feel like we have to post completed illustrations and I feel like you feel the same way and that can cause us to stress and get artblock. I know we may get exclusive sketches but if you have a sketch you don’t want to go further with you can post it on Instagram. But it is totally up to you. I knoh you spend a lot of time on your illustrations. It is worth the time because they always end up beautiful. I usually take some days off..maybe even weeks but a dtiys style sometimes help me out from art block or Pinterest is always inspiring. I would appreciate the feature @masayumei sorry for long comment xD

lotusbubble
>>24010140

Haha that’s awesome! 💖 I love the idea of just going on Pinterest and drawing like that 😌

lotusbubble
>>24015106

This is beautiful advice! 💖 I totally feel that way, like I can’t post something unless it feels really finished or complete. I think that can definitely contribute to the art block. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thank you for the helpful comment!! 💖💖

This is awesome Adelina!! I love the one about drawing the first plant you see outside, I wanna try that now 😄 Thank you so much! 💖

Honeybbun.art

So many comments for Pinterest and I totally agree 😂 Pinterest is my main inspiration! I hope you are able to get out of art block soon! sorry for seeing this late @kcsartcorner
