Devlog #5, Slimy edition (Patreon)

Yo! It's time to share this week's news with you.
This week I focused on two things: improving existing mechanics and creating a new mob.
Regarding mechanics, I gathered feedback and decided to refine some systems, making them feel more classic and comfy. I reworked sprinting again, added the ability to drink potions and use consumables directly from the hotbar, and made several small tweaks. I also redesigned the trader interface to make it more convenient. I spent a long time experimenting with about 4–5 different shop variations and, for now, settled on this one. Though I might revisit it again, since I personally feel like it lacks a cart. However, with this type of inventory, a cart might not be the best idea, since the inventory has a limited number of slots (unlike something like Skyrim, where the inventory is essentially unlimited and only constrained by weight, making a cart viable).
Oh, almost forgot: you can now grow wild plants. Adding a workbench finally allowed me to implement seed crafting, including seeds for wild plants.
I also considered adding a planting interface, but decided against it. While some people complain that planting seeds is inconvenient, an interface solution feels bulky and creates a sense of overload.
Now, about the mob. As many of you have already guessed, it will be a slime. I decided to start small and scale up. The Mushroom mob you already know is basically just a placeholder: I didn't put much thought into it at the time. That's why now I'm investing significantly more time and effort into making this new mob fully functional.
It's still far from finished. You could say it's currently in testing, and there's still a lot of work ahead. So far, I've implemented its navigation, model, one sex animation, and (as far as I can tell) all basic animations. I've also added a few sounds and general behavior logic, including returning to its spawn point, chasing the player, and losing interest.
Naturally, these changes will also affect the Mushroom. Right now, it's important to establish a clear overall approach to mobs so that creating new ones becomes easier in the future. As you can see, at the moment it takes a lot of time and raises many unresolved questions.
Finally, I did some small polishing work that I've been wanting to tackle for a while: items now return to the inventory when closing it, traders no longer repeat their greeting lines after loading a game, added display of dick and balls size in the stats, and improved transitions for some non-sexual animations to make them smoother - I specifically spent some time focusing on that.
There are also some other changes I'd rather not mention yet, since they're still in a very early stage and might not make it into the update, or even into the game at all.
So, let's take a look at the full list of changes:
Major changes:
Added Slime as a mob (not fully implemented yet)
Sprint now works by simply holding Shift. Walking/Jogging is toggled with Alt
New interface for traders
You can now drink potions and use cosmetic consumables from the hotbar (LMB while holding)
Password can now be entered by pressing Enter (no need to click (OK) button )
NPCs are now replace if they fall through the world (haven't seen it myself, but people reported it)
The stats screen now displays dick and balls size
Added a prototype first person camera. Playable, but may cause motion sickness
Minor changes and bug fixes:
Items from the cursor now move into the inventory instead of getting stuck in the center of the screen
Traders no longer repeat their greeting dialogue
Some non-sexual animations now have smoother transitions, making the game feel better
Input hints now hide when the inventory or other UI is open
In sex mode, you can zoom with the mouse wheel and the plus/minus buttons
During sex, the camera now automatically gets "center" position
Camera switching is now smoother
Fixed wrong potion color in the cauldron UI
That's all for today. Thanks for your support. Feel free to share any interesting ideas you have or things you'd really like to see in the game <3
