Yo! Build 12 is now available for download!
Unfortunately, last week I was in a huge rush and couldn't make a proper devlog. I usually spend much more time on posts, which left me with a feeling that I didn't "put in enough effort".
First of all, a new location was added: Caves. The game has needed caves for a long time. New resources, new creatures, new secrets. I also immediately populated the cave with new stuff. I added one creature (although it's not really a creature in the full sense used in the game), a new trader, and 3 crafting resources. This is far from the full list of planned features, but it's what I managed to implement so I wouldn't present the new location completely empty. Building and polishing it took quite a lot of time, but I'm generally satisfied with the result. At least a good foundation has been laid.
In addition, traders can now have sex too. For now only the new one, but I plan to add this to all of them. However, there's a catch: a few months ago my hard drive died, and I lost all source files and 3D models (including the first two NPCs). All that's left is Github. No .blend files. So this will probably take longer than it otherwise would have.
I also significantly reworked the game's core. Because of that, around 150 scripts and over 800 lines of code were edited, partly automatically and partly manually. This is very important, because it enabled new features that didn't exist before but should have. First, you can now return to the main menu. Second, there is now a full save/load menu with an unlimited number of slots, so you can save, load, restart, and do whatever you want without restarting the game. Going back to the main menu is also no longer necessary. These are basic features of any modern game, but as I said earlier, I made a critical architectural mistake at the beginning of development, which I've now fixed. Also, passwords are now saved, so you no longer need to enter them every time (except when a password changes).
I also promised to say a few words about the new soundtrack. We now have our first original OST. It's a night track that plays at night. My friend, an aspiring composer, helped me with it and wrote it anonymously. I'm trying to stay critical, and I'm not sure whether you'll like it. Please share your opinion, since I paid him for this track (surprisingly, music is quite expensive even when commissioned from a beginner).
That's basically it for the major changes. I can also say I fixed several long-standing issues that I've been struggling with for a long time.
I invite you to read the full changelog - that's where most of the details are.
WARNING! The settings.json file has been moved. If you got an empty broken save, the game is trying to read the settings as a save file. Just delete it, it's OK.
Main changes:
Added a new location: Cave
Added a new trader: The Twins
You can now initiate sex with traders (currently only the Twins)
Added a creature: Tentacle
Added 4 sex poses with the tentacle
Added spell books. Spells now need to be learned. Tomes can be purchased from the new trader
Added 3 new crafting resources in the cave
Added the ability to return to the main menu
Added save and load menus with an unlimited number of slots
Added the first original soundtrack
Added password saving
Added a home teleport from the cave for convenience
Added an animation for extracting sperm into a bottle
Added 1 sleeping animation
Bug fixes and minor changes:
Fully fixed an issue with broken lighting caused by large nipples shape, and overall issues with lighting and character normals
Possibly fixed item duplication through the crafting bench
Fixed an issue where the bookshelf ignored empty hotbar space
Fixed an issue where purchases ignored empty hotbar space (yes, those are two different bugs)
It turned out shape limits were not properly being removed. Fixed. Everything was manually tested for safety
Vsync is now disabled by default (it seems it caused issues on some PCs)
Fixed a rare animation desync between arms and legs
Fixed gaze positioning in some poses, which caused creepy empty eyes on characters
That's basically it for today. This time I had to do a lot of debugging, but I really enjoyed working on this build. I was very inspired. There's still so much more to do.
Let me know if you liked the new features. And if you didn't, write that too.
Thanks everyone for the support and for playing the game. I'm doing my best for you. Stay tuned for updates. <3
