Dames - Sketchbook December 2024 (Patreon)
Content
I put a lot of work on my plate this month, in addition to covering more hours at the print shop. So I didn't sketch a lot, but in the hours after work when my brain couldn't possibly do any work, but I was possessed by the spirit of drawing, I sketched up these characters for a story my friend is writing. They're all still very much WIP, but in order:
Princess Annul Adeline
Princess Ayasha (full name TBD)
Dame Sabrina Laux-Antille, Panther of Lissé
I'm having a lot of fun working on this with her because everything she has told me about the universe, I've been like, "that's literally the same as The Shepherd's Sword universe"... She keeps telling me things I've never told anyone that I just keep at the back of my mind when I'm making certain decisions, right down to the achronality. To put it as simply as possible, without getting into the details, we both came to our writing like, "what if we lived in a world that was basically as mishmashed as a Renaissance Faire" lol
The only difference is TSS has fantasy elements and magic, while this other project... well, I'm not sure. Jessie hasn't mentioned magic yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wormed its way into the story lol I guess in that way, it's kind of the same universe as Heave and Thaw. I didn't include any magic elements, but I didn't not say there's magic.
All that being said, these fashion explorations are making me really stoked to introduce more detail into my character designs for TSS.
So if anyone asks, if this project and TSS take place in the same universe, the answer is no. But yes? But not at all.
Anyway, don't expect anything more concrete than character sketches from this project. I know I said that about Amira, but I mean it this time. Because I'm not writing this one and I'm beholden to the timeline of Jessie lol AND because I'm loyal to Amira and The Shepherd's Sword and whatever trad pub project is coming down the pipe for me in the future.
(PS: I'm writing this on xmas, the one day I have this week to not work or draw, and here I am, drawing and working. You have to be crazy to want to do comics. And I am. I am crazy.)
