Hello everyone! Hope you've all had a great start to the year! 👽

To kick 2026 off, here’s a quick tour of the brand-new environments in 0.23, by far the biggest update yet.

New environments in this update:

🏡 Villa - realistic, luxury home with many different rooms, loft and a basement

⛪ Abandoned Church - eerie and atmospheric, perfect for spooky scenes

🎶 Night Club - neon strobes, lasers, and bass-heavy party ambience

🏝️ Island - tropical paradise with dynamic lighting and chilled beach vibes

📈 Office - large corporate space for work (and play!)

❄️ Winter Cabin - a beautiful cosy retreat surrounded by snow!

⚙️ Sandbox - large creative space for importing your own environments with day or night lighting! (not shown in the video)

🚀 Steam release is coming very soon - January 22nd, 2026.

This 0.23 update lays the foundation for the Steam launch, bringing the most complete, polished version of Captain Hardcore yet. 🛸

question, I just downloaded the game and cant seem to figure out hoe to access the additional levels. Do i have to continue playing through the game or is there something I am missing

Does anyone know how to reload the weapons in VR for Quest3? Obviously not the infinite laspistol, but the other weapons that use ammo. I'm picking up ammo but there's no reload button within the Controls section. It's just "R" for PC mode but absolutely no clue how to reload while in VR...I've tried just about every button and combination and nothing. The waves are actually pretty tough when only using laspistol lol.

Can someone please DM me? I honestly have no idea how to save my progress in this game. I’m getting tired of sitting through that 10‑minute intro every single time. I’m also not sure how to get more weapons—do I have to level up first? Do I need to beat certain enemies before the game even lets me save? I was able to create a few characters and those saved just fine, but when it comes to actual gameplay progress, I’m stuck. I don’t know what I’m missing or how to move forward. I’ll be real: that first level is no joke, and I’m feeling overwhelmed. If anyone has suggestions or tips, I’d really appreciate it.

Also had that issue as it isn't really spelled out explicitly. You have to open the menu (B button for Quest) within the game and click on the Floppy disk icon. Then Save, manually. From then on it'll load to that save when you click Start Game from the intro. As far as weapons, it's just a matter of holding A (again, I only know Quest 3 button) and choosing the other weapons. The only issue is there doesn't seem to currently be any input for VR to actually reload the weapons...if on PC you just hit "R", but you're SOL once your mag is empty in VR lol. I messaged AntiZero asking for help on this but no response yet. And yeah the waves are actually really difficult tbh, especially when only using the pistol. Definitely need the other weapons, but currently no reload option which is a teensy bit of an oversight. Really frickin' cool game, just a couple things that could be spelled out a little more explicitly in terms of directions, and obviously a few quirks to iron out like having a reload input in VR. I also had a really tough time figuring out what the hell the "galaxy map" was or where it was located, or how to operate it. Took a lot of walking around and clicking on everything to figure it out.

To save progress at the moment you need to complete the broken core, but there will be more save options in future builds. If you want to skip the story and go straight to the sandbox features, there is a screen hidden behind the "Start Game" button in the first environment. Depending on the version you are playing, enter the cheat code "69420" to unlock everything, or on other versions just click the button.

Hi, to get to the other environments you can press the tab button, then click the green load/save icon on the right, and click new to select the environment. In PCVR you can click the B button (on the quest) to bring up the in game menu, then click the green load/save icon on the left, and click New to select the environment. If you are still in the story mode and want to go straight to the sandbox and different environments, there is a screen hidden behind the "Start Game" button in the first environment. same for me. ive followed directions and i cant find an option to save nor load anywhere. the hidden pc is asking for a code

i wish i could upload pic to show but i cannot find a save or load button ANYWHERE. The only button is reset save which happens anyway every time i close the game. i even tried switching to desktop and use f1 or f2 and still nothing. What am i doing wrong?

Hi, for now, the game only saves once you pass the Broken Core stage. You can also skip the story and go straight to the sandbox mode with the cheat screen. There is a screen hidden behind the "Start Game" button in the first environment. Quest standalone version is nice as far as it goes, but you can't really get any reaction from the models. If there was an AI - or, MUCH BETTER, an API allowing people to plug in their own AI - the game would improve 1000%. Any plans for this - or for any Quest only updates? Forget the shooty shooty bits, people don't play this game for that.

The 'Abandoned Church' looks like the kit you would get from the Sears & Roebuck catalog. It would come up the river on a steam ship. Everything but the wood. All the metal, hinges, door knobs, window hardware, nails ... A friend had one on his property by the Missouri river.
