Hey everyone!

I'm excited to announce a brand new plugin I've been working on: Multi-Comp - a universal compressor that brings 8 classic compression styles into one versatile plugin!

The Vision

Instead of switching between multiple compressor plugins, Multi-Comp gives you access to a range of compression characters - from vintage warmth to modern transparency - all in one place. Each mode is carefully modeled to capture the essence of the original hardware.

8 Compression Modes

Vintage Opto - Smooth, program-dependent optical compression inspired by the LA-2A.

Vintage FET - Aggressive, punchy FET compression with that classic 1176 character.

Classic VCA - Fast, precise VCA compression in the style of the 160. Excellent for transient control. Love this on snare drum.

Bus Compressor - The glue! G-Bus style compression for mix bus and drum bus duties.

Studio FET - A cleaner, more refined FET sound for when you want the speed without as much color.

Studio VCA - Modern, versatile "Red" VCA compression with transparent operation.

Digital - Pristine, transparent compression when you need precision without character.

4-Band Multiband (Work in Progress) - Full multiband compression with per-band threshold, ratio, attack, release, and makeup controls. Solo each band to dial in your sound. As you can see, the UI still needs some work.

Features Across All Modes

Auto-makeup gain for automatic loudness compensation

Mix control for parallel compression

Up to 4x internal oversampling for clean, alias-free processing

Current Status

The plugin is fully functional and passes pluginval at strictness level 10 - ensuring stability across all major Linux DAWs. I'm currently doing final testing and polishing the UI.

Hoping to release a beta version by Christmas! 🎄

Release format: VST3 and LV2 for Linux

Stay tuned for more updates as development continues. As always, thank you for your support - it makes projects like this possible!

Let me know if you'd like any other tweaks!

Thanks so much! Unfortunately,on AV linux (debian 11 kernel 5.16) vst3 is not found. LV2 is listed but error if you try to load it.

forgot to mention - testing on ardour 6.9

Ah! That changes things. It looks like the issue was libstdc++ ABI incompatibility: Our build uses GCC 11 (from Ubuntu Toolchain PPA) for C++17 support required by JUCE 8.x GCC 11 produces binaries requiring GLIBCXX_3.4.29 Debian 11 ships with GCC 10.2.1 and only has up to GLIBCXX_3.4.28 When the plugin tries to load, dlopen() fails with "GLIBCXX_3.4.29 not found" I Added -static-libstdc++ linker flags to the CMake configuration. This statically links the C++ standard library into the plugin, removing the runtime dependency on the system's libstdc++ version. The build just finished successfully on Guthub. I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but feel free to try and let me know. When I get home later, I will test in a VM as well.

hi, i did install it on my macOS, i did follow the instructions. but logic can not open it, its giving a error

Dusk Audio

This error? "Apple could not verify “Multi-Comp.component” is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy." If so, you need to go to your settings/privacy and allow it to run

This is a swiss knife of compressors! Hope you're going to fix an annoying GUI bug I've experienced under Reaper (Windows): in FET mode, when I close the plugin window and reopen it later, I always find the setting 4:1 highlighted, however I've set it. It's just a GUI related bug, not affecting the actual sound.

Dusk Audio

Thanks! Let me see if I can reproduce that on Reaper and I will add a ticket to Github. Anytime you find an issue, definitely report it on there and I try to tackle it as soon as possible. I am still working to get the "Opto" mode closer to the actual hardware. I am hoping to release an update in the next day or two. The Autogain should be improved as well.

DArt

Yeah, my bad. Looking forward to the update anyway.
