Bonus guide! I just joined, and this is the first video I watched. I selected it based on the title. The topic has been a priority for me, but I’ve not found an overview like yours anywhere. Thanks for this guide. I love the objective, brand-agnostic, art-driven approach.

Joshua Headley

Thanks for the in depth review on how you have experienced paint, and the best uses for each as you have found. It was a great guide overall.

Scott A Myers

great video, I did have one question however. In multiple parts of the video you elaborate on a given brand of paint and how it performs in basecoating, layering and glazing. When you are specifically speaking of how a brand performs as a layer technique are you referring to the way most people layer? or are you speaking of your application of glazing with a layer consistency as you've mentioned in one of your Youtube videos on glazing??? Thx in advance :)

Finally got the chance to watch this, and it's an excellent summary. Thank you once again for the detail and effort you put into your explanations on what you've found to be the strengths and weaknesses of each line

Miniature's Den

Sorry I was on vacation and just got back! I refer to it as the "general" way of layering, not my specific method :)

Roger Overstreet Jr

Thank you for this video! It cleared up a lot of questions I have about paint lines and their uses.

I have the Vallejo Game inks, is that a substitutable line for the Liquitex?

Miniature's Den

"artist" grade inks are better quality but you can surely pull stuff off with vallejo inks as well, don't feel forced to make the purchase!

Hugo St-Gelais

Now I feel like a dumbass because I purchased the whole Game Color from Vallejo.

Miniature's Den

Game color isn't bad per se, it just lacks some of the qualities other paints have making it a bit harder to work with! But with enough practice you can achieve good results with it too :)

Hugo St-Gelais

I know but you are right about the Game Color set. Some colors work great and some don't. Since I'm learning more about techniques,, your video makes me realize that I may not be able to achieve a great effect because of the paint instead of the way I am doing it.

It's one of the most helpfull video I've seen
