Hey everybody. My food poisoning is mostly gone at this point, so I'm happy to get that behind me. This post feels strange to write, but it's an important update for you guys, too.

I've mentioned the past few months that I've been helping to take care of my elderly parent. This hasn't changed, but their condition gradually worsened, and after months of conflicting tests the doctors determined that they have cancer. This is probably the last thing I expected, and it's been a pretty sizable burden for our household both practically and mentally.

I take some solace in that their tests show the disease has not progressed significantly. They will still have to undergo major surgery and other procedures, but that fact alone makes a huge difference. Many days of the last two months were spent between appointments and hospital visits. The stress of navigating the medical system has certainly taken its own toll.

This week, they have their surgery, and I will be occupied with that on Wednesday. The doctor's don't expect the recovery to take very long, which is encouraging. I'm hopeful that once that is out of the way they will be able to enjoy more independence again as well. This has all happened so fast its been difficult to fathom, but I'm relieved the surgery will be soon.

I want to thank all of your for supporting me while I've dealt with this, and that it makes a big difference in helping keep our situation stable. Despite all this, drawing is still one of my main way to de-stress. I will have a busy week but you can still expect the art to continue since I wouldn't have it any other way. Here's the new link to the archive. I appreciate you all so much!

I'm really sorry to hear that, that's devastating. Wishing them all the best for the surgery and hope that they will be able to recover with the relatively early diagnosis. It's good if art is helping you de-stress, but I'm sure everyone would understand if you need or want to take a longer break during all this!

ah I know what that feels like taking care of someone who needs help in day to day stuff, im glad the doctors are hopeful and wish them a speedy recovery, and also make sure you take what breaks you need to de-stress even if art is helpful to you for that its important you dont feel like you HAVE to draw constantly or anything while you deal with this
