Simon is... Price is a very, very trusted friend. He's an incredibly important person to Simon, but at the same time, he's a *superior*. A Trusted Superior, but his Commanding Officer nonetheless. There's always gonna be that sway of chain-of-command, even if Simon would literally go to hell and back for Price. I don't think Simon has ever had a person who challenges him on such an even playing field. Granted, Johnny is his subordinate in the Chain of Command, but Johnny doesn't seem to have that fear of rank that so many others do. Just fear in general, actually- 😂 Rather than be intimidated by Ghost's rep, he seems to gleefully nose his way into his bubble- Which is incredibly different from the vast majority of strangers and co-workers. While Simon can absolutely pull rank when he needs and wants, it feels like he refrains from doing so unless absolutely necessary, which Johnny seems to fully take advantage of. 🤭 And yet, it creates such a breath of fresh air for the situation! Here's someone that's not intimidated by social standing or, well, sheer Resting Bitch Aura, and I don't think Simon has ever experienced that. He's so used to isolation - from his own issues with self worth and image, to the fact he's just one helluvan intimidating bastard - that having someone barge in without any consideration for his reputation (beside wonder, curiosity, and admiration) is incredibly novel. All that to say that I adore how much of a missing puzzle piece Johnny is to Simon. 🥺 It's like opening the window and letting in some fresh air and sunshine after doom rotting in your bed for weeks, and I love that for them~ Soap is Ghost's little shit-stirrer, for better and for worse!
