Season 5 isn't my favorite, but it's not bad by any stride - there are some really solid plotlines and build up that I think you'll enjoy! These episodes do really hit though, and I think you'll like the next two as well!

LETS GOOO. Btw! Chrissy Costanza, the lead singer of Against The Current, was brought to Japan to voice Jiro's singing voice. I'm a huge fan of especially their new music. She did such a great job. She talked about how she sat down with the writers of the show and helped translate some of the lyrics to make more sense in English. So cool, and Eri's smile makes my tear up every single time.

Season Five of My Hero Academia is possibly one of the greatest things to grace the Earth. Some of the best moments of the show happen, and there is non stop peak. You will love it.

This arc is one of my favorites, although many people hate it, at the end of the day they are just children acting like what they are, CHILDREN, they deserve a break after so many confrontations with villains, la brava and gentle are also two very good characters, the motivations of both of them to be "villains" are not as macabre as those of the league of villains, but they continue to adhere to the reality of the show, let's not even talk about Eri's smile, and the two episodes to come??? TOTAL PERFECTION.

And if u didn't know essentially yes Eri was saved but she was only saved from danger not from her depression. Hori believes in realism with his character writing so Eri wasn't just immediately all happy and smiles after escaping from Overhaul. So here comes the performance with a very important lyric "Strength doesn't make a hero" this festival helped put a smile on Eri's face. Music can also save someone

Eri finally breaking free of overhaul and smiling and just having actual fun is the single most heartwarming thing ive ever seen in anime it brings tears to my eyes every time, its the most wholesome thing ever its too cute I love Eri and seeing her happy finally, so much payoff

One thing you missed, thats easily missable tbh, is when Gentle gave La Brava her name, he overheard her pointing out her dark rings around her eyes and being sad about them, and he used the marker pen to draw dark rings around his eyes too just to be like her so she doesnt feel as outcast, even if she saw the rings as a bad thing he was willing to be in the same position to make her feel better, thats why she cried when he turned around Genuinely such a cute wholesome moment, Gentle truly cares for her so much as a person, not just a fan.

But in the anime, the directors learned that Jiro's English Dub Voice Actress was a singer, so they brought her on to sing for the original Sub, as well as every single Dub, since no matter the country, they didn't change this song into anything different.

I'm not up to date to the manga but I do hope we get to see them again. I knew you'd come around to Gentle and La Brava. Their story is one of the highlights of this arc. The performance was a spectacle, Jirou's little arc was also very touching, and Eri finally being freed from the hold Overhaul had on her was perfection. These next 2 episodes are something special, and I know you'll absolutely love them.

Again, I know people say to watch Heroes Rising after you finish this season, but the events of the movie take place after the first arc of season 5, so watch it after epsiode 12. If we're looking to be SUPER technical, there's a point halfway through episode 13 with a conference between the teachers. After that, it cuts ahead a few weeks, and the movie takes place in that time. But nobody wants you to stop halfway through an episode just to then jump to a movie, so right after episode 12 is your best time to watch it.

I think people get it mixed up because the movie released alongside season 4, but in the timeline of events, it comes after the first arc of the next season. Plus, Bakugo and Todoroki don't have their provisional licenses yet, so they wouldn't be able to perform hero work.

Yeah, I mean at the end of the day its not really that hard to cook up a tragic backstory for characters, even if they are villains, to garner sympathy from the audience. But MHA does a good job at it that doesn't make it feel too cliche.

I'm glad to see you appreciate this arc! My favorite part of your reactions is how much you can really empathize with a character and how true you are to every changing feeling about a character from introduction to being fleshed out. Side note I'd say the reason deku said gentle was the hardest to fight was more because of his conviction that was similar to deku's own. Not because of anything else. Also huge milestone for deku to fully solo his first enemy with no outside assistance or intervention.

Some people enjoy high action animation with flashy fight scenes and some people enjoy good writing and story telling. I hiiiiiiiighly recommend you give them a listen. They also did a song for league of legends called legends never die and it gives me MHA vibes too. especially after you've seen the second mha movie!
